Chapter 24

Ava grabs me by the hand and literally throws me into the changing room, the clothes she picked out for me flying along. She then closes the curtain behind me. So. Now I need to change. I quickly take off my shirt. Finally I'm alone, Savannah hasn't been giving me a break since I got here. Today she decided to play nice, this girl and her mood swings. Now I can finally breathe, not that I mind the attention.

"You need help?" I hear her say. Great. She sounds really close to the piece of cloth, so I clutch my clothes to cover my body.

"Not really, thanks." I reply. I unfold my arms and bend down to get the black polo-like top. I hear the noise of metal scratching metal and Savannah's clear voice, not muffled by the curtain anymore, say "You sure? I like the view." She then steps in and closes behind her. As quick as I can, I stand up straight and cover myself.

"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?" I half scream, half whisper. Savannah's eyes go wide as she becomes pale.

"Oh, wait, sorry. I didn't mean to upset you, I should leave." Thing is, as much as she irritates me, I don't want her to go either, so when she turns, I grab her wrist and say that it's fine.

"I don't really see the point of you being in here though." I say. I think I might have as many mood swings as she does.

"I'll help you chose." She answers, with a smile.

"I think this is bad, like people could get the wrong impression." As soon as the words come out of my mouth, I get pinned against a wall, Savannah's body on mine, her lips inches away, she towers over me, just like she did in the restrooms. This time the electricity is a million times stronger, it always gets stronger every single time.

"I do bad things, and I do them very well, if you don't mind. Plus, I wouldn't mind if they got the 'wrong' idea, would spare us the effort of telling them in the future." Jesus. Jesus. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuckety fuck. What the fuck is happening? My brain goes in overload, I try to calm down but I just fucking can't. She's so close to me, she's too close to me. My breath hitches. I look into her eyes, full of fire. Then, as if nothing happened, she moves away and grabs the polo I had in my hand earlier, the sweet Savannah's back. I stay very very still, in shock. Then slowly I peel myself off the separator and get the shirt she's offering, just after mumbling a thanks. Wait. She said future. Do we have a future? What did she mean?

"You alright?" She says, innocently, as if she didn't just fucking do that.

"Huh? Oh, uhm, yeah, fine."

"Oh. My. God. How can you look cute in everything?" Ava says, while eating her strawberry ice-cream. We're seated at a booth in a '50s themed diner. I just shrug and continue sipping my chocolate milkshake.

"Hey, girls. Didn't know you'd be here." I hear a voice from behind. I freeze. Just great. I turn my head and I think I've spotted him the exact moment he spotted me because his eyes are about to pop out of their sockets.

"Oh, uhm, Rose. Nice to see you." He says.

"Wish I could say the same." I answer. He just keeps looking guilty, so I just keep on looking at the table and enjoying my drink, trying not to be disturbed by a selfish prick.

"So, Mitch, you here with the guys? Send them over, you can join us if you want. I think we're leaving to find something else to do anyways." Ava saves me. Thank God if we're leaving, any more bags and we'd have to hire a lorry driver to carry them home.

"Yeah, sure." And he calls the guys over. Great. Just great. The guys come over and there are a few familiar faces, though I don't remember where I've seen them. Probably at school.

"Oh, we got a new lady here." Says one, he has a buzz cut and large clothes. "Nice to meet you, my name's Josh." He shakes my hand. The other guys introduce themselves so I do too.

"Tyler's missing, he'll come back from the restroom soon." Josh says, with a wink. Okay? And then it hits me. He's the buzz cut skater boy from the bowling alley. I feel Savannah stiffen beside me.

"He's here too?" She asks.

"Yeah, why wouldn't he be? I know you're not great with transfer students but he's a nice guy." One of the other skater boys from the bowling alley, Mark, says. He's the tall one with the flamingo hoodie, he's got Flamingo Beanie, a.k.a. Alex, hanging on his arm.

"Nothing, he's just too nice." She says grumpily. Everyone looks confused, but they just shake it off and continue. I decide to annoy her, so I lean in and whisper "I think he's the right ammount of nice. There's never too much nice. Unless you're jealous, of course."

I sit back, flustered as fuck, though I keep a smug grin on my face.

"Shut the fuck up, red face." I know I've won, but I bug her anyway.

"Speaks her." I answer. She glares. "What? You're the one who keeps annoying me but gets mad as soon as someone asks me my number."

"I can't help it, you're fun to mess with." I deadpan and give her the finger. Soon enough, Tyler arrives.

"What have I missed?" He says, then turns his head and sees me. "Oh, hi again." He adds with a smile.

"Hi! I'm sorry for last time." I turn around to Savannah to emphasize, she goes all grumpy and looks at the table. I turn around back to Tyler and I can't decide if his expression is more the one of fear or of disappointment.

"No worries." He says.
