“No, thanks.”
“Suit yourself,” he shrugs. “See you later.”
“Taking the train?” Lane comes up behind me.
“Yup!”
I finish packing up and pull my denim jacket on. It’s eight-thirty, but the early-May air is still warm with the sun that had just finished setting. Lane and I head toward the train station.
“So tell me about this movie. I’m so excited for you!”
“Thank you. It’s a horror film. That’s all I’m really allowed to say at this point. But…I can let you hear the music I have so far.”
“Yes, let me hear it!”
I grab my phone out of my bag and hand my headphones to Lane, playing her the music for the opening scene.
“You rock,” she says, when the music is over.
I laugh. “Thank you!”
She hands me the headphones, our fingertips brushing.
“Seriously, you’re so talented, Morgan.”
“Seriously, you’re making me blush!” I press my hands to my warm cheeks.
“Just being honest!” She grins.
Lane’s stop is two before mine.
