1 Kazuki Arata

Kaneko Isamu walked through the pouring rain, shoes filling up with the warm rainwater. Kaneko Isamu didn't live far away from the school that she attended. Just a short walk up a muddy hill.

Isamu was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't realize she had walked right past the gate to her high school.

Many other kids tried to tell Isamu that she was going the wrong way and had already missed the school but she only had one thought on her mind.

"What would life be like if a stayed a girl?"

Isamu knew that she wasn't transgender, she just didn't like her hair long, wearing girl clothes or playing with dolls.

"Ding, Dong, Ding, Dong."

The sound of the bell brought Isamu back to the present. She looked all around her self before realizing she was on the other side of the high school. She ran as if trying to outrun a pack of wolves. Or a bunch of gunmen.

Isamu saw the gate closing. She knew what she had to do. Isamu got closer to the gate. Drew in a deep breath, and launched herself high in the air.

Isamu was the best at basically everything. She had the highest scores on all of her tests but turned down the offer to become student council president. She was the fastest runner, the highest jumper, the strongest fighter, Aginami High School was one of the top schools thanks to the Isamu and her family.

Isamu's parents were rich but she never liked the thought of living in a big house and having a bunch of servants. She preferred to make her own meals for herself and her parents. Isamu also didn't want to draw attention to herself but no matter what she does, there is always attention.

Looking down from her leap, Isamu could see herself pass the gate and was now slowly falling. She let the legs crumple under her as she landed and then turns her landing into a roll. Jumping over the gate was the easy part but making to class on time wasn't.

She changed her shoes, flew up the stairs and down the hallways. Passing other students that were late and most of the teachers including her own. She kept running even though her the teachers were yelling at Isamu to stop.

Isamu was one turn away from her class when she ran head first into something. Or, someone. The person she ran into was Kazuki Arata. Kazuki Arata has been in Isamu's class since freshman year. She didn't really know him but Isamu knew he was from a wealthy family and was vice president on the student council.

"Do you need help?" Isamu rubbed her head and looked up. Kazuki was standing over her, his hand extended to help her up. Isamu took the offer and put her hand in his. Kazuki's hands were warm, like he had kept them in his pockets or in gloves.

Kazuki pulled Isamu up, surprised at how light she was.

"Ding, Dong, Ding, Dong."

The second bell had rung and Isamu and Kazuki were still standing in the hallway. Isamu looked over a Kazuki for a split second before bolting into her classroom.

Isamu starred out her classroom window. Her seat in homeroom was right by this giant window at the at the back of the class. She didn't really like homeroom and didn't really get it so, Isamu continued to look out of the window, memorized my the mountains. Even though it was raining the mountains seemed to sparkle and glisten.

Since Isamu didn't really like homeroom she let her mind wander which led her to not hearing her name being called. Someone gently tapped on her should. Isamu whipped her head around to find Kazuki pointing to the teacher.

"Kaneko Isamu?" Her teacher asked again, sounding really impatient.

Isamu slowly raised her hand while looking down at her uniform.

Her teacher seemed unimpressed. She wrote something in an open textbook on her desk, then continued down the list of names.

Once roll call was done, Isamu started flipping through her history book. She stopped on a page she had marked earlier that week. Her homework for Mr. Danichi, was to choose a creature from Greek mythology and to write a speech on it.

Isamu had chosen the centaur. A centaur was a cross between a human and a horse. The centaur had a horse body and human arms, chest, and head. They could talk normally and read like humans, but their intelligence, speed, and stamina and other things like that were boosted. A centaur could shift into a human, they just couldn't use their legs.

Isamu was almost done speech when the bell for the second period rang. Isamu gathered up her books, papers, and bag and started down the hallway. Isamu's next was history which was on the other side of the school.

Once Isamu reached her classroom she set up her books and took out the rest of the stuff she needed for class. She picked up her pencil and began writing but soon felt that something was off. Isamu looked up and around her and saw that she was the only one in the classroom.

She thought she'd take advantage of this situation. Isamu started to sing while finishing up her speech.

"I remember years ago someone told me I should take caution when it comes to love, I did" Isamu closed her eyes, she stopped. Isamu looked up at the doors.

Isamu slowly stood up, making sure she didn't make a sound. She cautiously walked towards the door. Isamu slid her hand onto the door and slid it open.

At least 10 of her classmates and maybe, even more, fell into the doorway. Isamu just starred at them, no emotion is her face what so ever. Lots of them hurried to stand up while some were taking there time and whispering things like,

"How is he so good at singing."

"He's so good at everything!"

"How did he hear us through the door?"

Isamu didn't pay attention to what they were saying and instead, went back to her seat. She picked up her pencil and went back to writing so she could finish before Mr. Daichi could enter his class.

Isamu heard the taking die down to a dull roar once more students entered. She decided to ignore all the whispering they were doing.

Isamu was almost done her speech when someone took a seat next to her. She was tempted to look at who was sitting beside her but wanted to finish what she was doing first. Isamu did her closing sentence and started walking to Mr. Daichi's desk. Isamu let her paper slide out of her hand before turning to walk away.

As she walked back she looked up to see that Kazuki had taken the seat next to her. Isamu glared at him before taking her seat once more.

History class had been quite intriguing. Isamu wanted to learn more and decided to ask Mr. Daichi about it at lunch.
