Chapter 49 - Malia (2)

After brunch, the three of us cleaned up, put the dirty dishes into the dishwasher, and moved to the living room. Heather and I sit on the sofa while Gianna is near the fireplace, playing with her new Lego Pirates that Heather brought her last night when she came over and insisted we have a slumber party. God, I missed her so much, I immediately said yes.

She came as soon as she confirmed that Keith wasn't here. She thought we were living together already. He does stay over sometimes, but we agreed that until we get married, we weren't going to be living together yet. At the moment, he rents an apartment in Manhattan close to the KMH building. 

"You did a great job with her, Mal." She smiles, looking over at my daughter.

"You think so?"

"Are you doubting it? Look at her. She's beautiful, very smart for her age, independent, affectionate, bright, and friendly. I watch you two together and I get serious baby fever."
