46 - Betrayal

Jack put the tea cup down after he pretended to take a sip.

Angelica must have decided he wanted more because she said,

"You want more tea? of course you can!"

She then proceeded to get up, take the teapot, and poured Jack some more.

Jack started regretting his life choices.

He felt that she would be here doing this for a while, he spent even more energy as he repeated his actions of pretending to drink.

Luckily after he put the cup down for a second time she didn't pour him more and instead tended to Mr.Teddy.

The couple watched this all closely.

although one of them, namely Sarah felt Jack was my bad and wouldn't hurt her daughter, as a parent she had to worry.

David on the other hand after the doll incident felt that he definitely should keep an eye on her.

What would he do if Jack started getting too close to Angelica, they know nothing about him, if he was a good person why wasn't he in heaven, David thought.

Jack was almost relieved for a while, he felt that maybe he would be let off if Mr.Teddy took all of Angelica's attention.

unfortunately, that was only his wishful thinking because after she poured tea for Mr.Teddy Jack was next.

This time though Jack saw Angelica walk to the side and brought out some fake cakes and plates.

Jack's expression was full of resignation as he watched her set a piece of plastic cake in front of him along with some utensils before refilling his teacup.

Jack wondered why he was doing this.

'Why don't I just ignore her?' Jack thought.

However, his reasoning collapsed when he saw her smile full of happiness.

'Oh, yeah... That's why..." He thought as he focused his will on his hands and pretended to down the cup of tea quickly to not waste energy.

After that, he grabbed the fork that she had placed next to his plate and pretended to eat the cake.

Jack grimaced when he checked his status after his actions.

His energy had plummeted.

Luckily for Jack David had enough and said to Angelica,

"Sweetie how do you feel about some ice cream."

David tempted his daughter as Sarah gave him a weird look.

In the end, she didn't say anything, she silently permitted his actions.

"Really!?!" Angelica said excitedly, she had already completely forgotten what she was doing and got up to follow as David lured her to the kitchen for snacks.

'I'm free!' Jack thought in relief.

Jack almost wanted to thank David,

Jack thought about not scaring him but when Jack remembered David's reaction he couldn't help himself see it again.

Sarah glanced at the tea party that Angelica left out and debated on yelling at her to clean up after herself, but eventually decided not to and just do it herself.

Jack saw Sarah head toward him and watched as she cleaned the mess up.

He thought about possessing Mr.Teddy and helping but with how much energy he spent already playing with Angelica he decided to save it for later tonight.

....

A little bit later Sarah and Jack joined the father-and-daughter duo in the kitchen.

Sarah sat down with them but didn't indulge in the ice cream herself.

Instead, she looked at her husband and asked him,

"Did the investigators contact you yet?"

"No, it's only been a little more than a day, They said it would take at least a couple," David replied and looked confused l, wondering why she was in such a hurry for the investigators to report back.

It's not like they can just magically get rid of Jack.

"Why?" David asked her.

"I am actually a bit curious about what kinds of questions they asked Jack and if he replied," Sarah explained.

"We could maybe learn more about him and why he is here."

" I guess I'm kinda curious too." David thought about it a bit and replied.

Maybe depending on the evidence they might change their mind and forcefully get rid of him, but he doubted it, considering if it was that bad and urgent they wouldn't have been told to just get used to it.

After that small chat, they chatted a bit about normal life while David and Angelica are their ice cream.

"Don't eat too much, don't forget there is still dinner later." Sarah reprimanded them when she saw they had almost eaten a whole carton.

It was mostly David who ate all of it though.

She glared at him and he smiled sheepishly when he saw he had devoured almost the whole thing.

Angelina noticed that there was much left and also pouted and flared at her father.

Being double-teamed by the girls he frantically turned the gears in his head trying to think of an excuse.

"It's not my fault I'm stress eating!" David said righteously.

"It's Jack's fault!" He shifted the blame for his behavior.

Jack who was just wondering and chilling around leisurely looked over with a fave that read "Who? Me?" as he was blamed by David inexplicably.

'I barely did anything, it's not my fault you're scared of dolls!' Jack argued back for his innocence in his head.

Sarah rolled her eyes and snatched the ice cream from him and put it away.

"I'm going to get dinner started and you will eat it all even if you're full!" She said viciously with eyes daring him to refute her again.

David nodded his head quickly like a chicken pecking.

Seeing him being obedient she nodded and started dinner.

Unfortunately, although he saved his hide from one girl, he didn't for the other who was still pouting at him now because he made the ice cream be taken from her.

"Don't worry me and you will sneak some later." David tried to placate her.

"Mommy! Daddy said he was going to eat the ice cream again later!" Angelica wickedly threw her father under the bus for revenge.

Sarah turned to look at them and saw David had a look of remorse and betrayal on his face while Angelica looked smug.

She smirked and then ignored their spectacle.
