Heroic nature.

The day had certainly took a weird set of turns for Steven. First there was an introduction of some kind of power. Second he had an unconventional discussion with a dead person. Now he's walking across town, with said dead person, to locate his coaches house.

This definitely felt like some kind of fever dream. Something he'd only picture whilst suffering with chicken pox. Though he was rash free. Oddly enough he seemed clearer than he had been in a while. He was extremely energized.

The streets bustled with life. The roads were lined with cars and cyclists. Shops had patrons enter and leave. The typical rhythm of a small city.

Steven and Bri walked through the crowds of people in silence. Well, Steven was silent. Bri would come and go admiring the changes.

"Whoa that building is huge! OMG that dog is so cute! What kind of breed is that! Do these bud stops have touch screens!"

Those were only a few examples of the things Steven heard along their walk. It was like Amy when she was 4. He just tuned it out as they walked.

"Man I'm thirsty. Im gonna grab a soda real quick."

"Okay," Bri yells from an indistinct location. Steven then turned into the first convenience store he saw.

It was the typical corner store. A few people fiddling amounts themselves, grabbing various goods. The clerk was friendly and watched her patrons grab their various needs. Steven gave a quick smile back before heading to the back.

With Steven being at the back, he was oblivious to what started to happen up front. A fiery young lad stormed through the door. His hair was cut in to a soft Mohawk, crimson red was his choice of color. His eyes matched his hair. He laughed as he approached the counter.

"Hey there sweet thang. Wanna go get freaky in the back?"

The clerk tilted her head and held an awkward smile. "Uh sorry, that's not something that I can do."

The eccentric man sighed and tilted his head down. "Could've figured as much. Time for plan B!" His palm ignited in a mythical flame. A blue hue filled the room. "What wouldn't you expect red? Nah I'm too hot for that baby! Now give me that money sweet thing or imma set this place a blaze." He licks his lips with is long slimy tongue. "I'm Itchin' for some fuel."

"Hey, hey, hey, Steven!"

Steven was pulled out of his thoughts, by a whispering Bri. "What?"

"Somethings happening, we should sneak out."

"Sneak out? What's happening?"

"Uhhhh it's not worth to see let's just get out of here. There's an exit right there." She points to a door in the corner.

A loud scream pulled Steven's head towards the front. "Shit." Steven ignoring Bri's began to quietly move towards the front.

"What is that money really worth your life?"

"Yes! This is my business. My life!" You won't take that away from me!" The woman was now emitting a green aura. Her veins popped out as she took a primal stance. Her red hair had broken out of its pony tail, and floated freely around herself.

She charged forward sending air out. Bags of candies and chips flew around littering the floor. Every swing of her open hands generated a strong gust of wind. Every palm was dodged by the fiery man.

He laughed maniacally. "You can blow away my flames but they'll come back stronger! To bad for you love, I don't need flames to get what I need." Slipping something out of his pocket he dashed forward. He slammed into her stomach.

Her green aura flickered as she held her stomach. Blood began to pool over her hand and down her leg.

Steven, leaning around a shelf, felt a fire build up inside him. He pictured his mom in that same place. That woman could have a family. That or she could be someone's daughter.

Steven's body lit up in a white sticky aura. His hair frilled out and floated around him. Rage consumed his body and he charged.

Bri watched as a golden trail of footprints launched towards the flaming man. All Steven could see was the target. Steven dashed towards his target, readying his fist.

The impact was calm. The air sat still around everyone as they stared at colliding forces. Everyone was taken back as an eruption of energy filled the once calm air. Upon the shockwave, the man launched back and landed on his ass.

He stood up and patted dust off of his jacket. "Okay kiddo you diggen your grave here." A ring of fire erupted from the floor around him. Placing his palm over his eye, he burst into mania.

Without missing a beat, he launched a counter attack. The tile cracked under his feet as he explained towards Steven. His flaming fist colliding with Steven's forearm.

Steven found himself falling as his feet were swept from under him. A fist plummeted towards his face. Wincing in pain, he rolled to the side dodging the attack.

Steven's rage was quelled yet. He flung himself to his feet. He quickly found himself trading blow for blow with his adversary.

Steven's skin was cracking and melting in spots. Though he couldn't feel anything. Anything but the rage that was overcoming him. Bri could only watch from the sidelines.

"What do I do? He's just getting more and more hurt." She winced as blood erupted from a punch hitting Steven's face. "His injuries will be too much!"

"Aha! You're scrappy kid! But it's time to end this." A ball of fire began to form over the man's head. Growing in size over a few seconds. The heat was unbearable for all the spectators as the sheltered behind the racks.

The ball launched towards Steven as he struggled to catch his breath. The air was thin due to all the flames. Even one's rage can't overturn a lack of oxygen.

The ball collided with Steven's ghastly aura briefing before reaching his flesh. The hair began to crumble and ultimately burn away. His skin followed suit. Finally Steven's adrenaline faded and a scream was expelled.

Bri watched in horror as the ball slowly faded upon touching Steven's skin. His arm went limp as his muscle fibers were exposed to the air. Bri felt something in her chest. A thud, shortly followed by another one. "What is this feeling," she gasped out.

A cool tingling feeling wrapped around his shoulder. The feeling fell down to his right arm. The one that was ravished by flames. A soothing breeze enveloped the wound. Slowly the flesh began to grow back.

After a few seconds his arm was brand new. With his pain subsided he noticed and overwhelming strength enveloped him. This time it wasn't rage. His head was clear. He looked down to his hand. "What is this. I have so much energy."

The fire guy wasn't gonna let him just stand there. He quickly flung flames at Steven. Each fireball eroded before hitting their mark. "What the hell is this!" Another huge ball of fire was being formed above the man's head. "I'll just have to erase you this time!"

In a quick zoom, Steven was in front of the psycho man.

"What!"

"Imma put you down."

Steven pulled back a fist and plummeted it into the chest of the fire user. An explosion broke out from the point of impact. The man expelled blood before launching through the brick exterior wall.

All the flames quickly subsided. Bri looks at Steven as he focused on the whole on the wall. Though she couldn't look long. An eruption of pain pulled her away. Her right arm was throbbing. Wait, she was feeling. Something she hadn't since she awoke at Steven's place. She looked down at her arm. Her physical arm. The skin was missing and now her muscles were exposed. Bri gasped.

A hand landed on her shoulder. A weak raspy voice spoke. "Hey, you two should go. You know what they do to vigilantes here."

Bri looked up to the clerk. Blood was dripping out of her mouth, but she had a smile on her face. "Uh okay!" Bri rushed to grab Steven's hand and dragged him outside.
