"Have you considered... divorcing him? Instead of only separating?"

"...what?"

Lucas' questions were met with a stunned gaze from Linda. Her eyelashes fluttered as tremors spread from her lips to her entire face.

The mother and son were caught in a momentary silence before Lucas quickly took his words back. He gently patted the back of Linda's right hand.

"Sorry, I shouldn't ask that," Lucas smiled apologetically, "Don't think about it, Mother. You're still sick. We can talk again later."

Lucas was ashamed thinking that he was trying to impose his ideas on Linda. His mother was still recuperating. He should have brought up this matter when she had gotten healthier, both physically and mentally.
