6 First Commission

After checking in, the receptionist gave Lumine a gold card. "Here's your key, Miss. I will call someone to escort the two of you to your room."

"Thank you," Lumine nodded as she take the card.

We were guided to a room soon after. As we entered, it was very spacious, with an aesthetic yet grand Victorian luxurious hotel ambiance. There were two fluffy, soft-looking beds on the side, a large window by the balcony, desks for workstations, a sofa, and a fireplace. There were also cabinets for luggage. On the left side, a door led to the bathroom and toilet.

"Wow!" I exclaimed.

"Right?" Lumine nodded in agreement.

"I'll go take a bath first," Lumine said as she walked to the bathroom. She stopped halfway and looked at me seriously. "Don't peek."

"Don't worry, Lumine, I will stand guard," Paimon assured.

Shaking my head, I placed the newly bought Old Merc's pal to the side. This guy is very big, weighing at least 25 kilograms.

"Paimon, can you teach me some characters first?" I asked the little floating mascot who was standing at the door.

"Oh, of course!" She flew towards me.

While waiting for Lumine, I studied Teyvat Language with Paimon. Time passed by, taking half an hour. Lumine took a long time in the bath; is this how girls take a bath? I shrugged.

During that half an hour, the Inn staff delivered the food. I must say it smelled intoxicating, with several portions. Paimon had ordered them; she is a gluttonous hamster.

The bathroom door opened, and Lumine, in pajamas, walked out with a towel on her head, looking refreshed.

"The food is here, Lumine. Let's eat first," I said.

Lumine glanced at the food on the table and nodded.

"Mmm~ Delicious!" Paimon danced happily.

The food was very tasty. After eating heartily, I took a bath. When I was done, I asked Paimon and Lumine to help me with my studies. I asked Lumine to help me with the basics, and I wanted to learn Storage skills too.

Then we slept after that.

...

Morning came, and for a moment, my mind dozed off while recalling what had happened yesterday. It was unbelievable, but thankfully, I adapted quickly. I never had a longing for Earth in the first place.

Lumine and Paimon were sleeping soundly on the other bed. I checked my wristwatch; it's a resilient watch, waterproof, shockproof, and made of titanium. Besides the watch, I had my smartphone, which I had built. As a hacker, my phone wasn't branded, as those can be easily tracked. Every piece of this phone was top-notch. But, it would be useless here. The phone case was specifically built to be a solar panel to charge it, so battery life wasn't a concern. It would serve as a good memento at the very least.

Anyway, since Lumine and Paimon were still sleeping, I decided to stay in shape. I warmed up and got out of the room with my Claymore.

Downstairs...

"Hi, do you have a courtyard here? I want to practice with my sword," I asked the receptionist.

"Yes, it's in the back. I'll call someone to guide you," she smiled.

I was guided to the back of the building, where there was a large courtyard. People were engaged in various activities, such as reading books, exercising, and practicing. I picked a spot to swing my Claymore, even though I didn't know any fighting style yet, so I could only practice swinging.

I lost track of time, and when I looked at my watch, it was already past 8. I went to the lobby to have some breakfast and then returned to my room to review my studies. Lumine and Paimon were still sleeping soundly.

Maybe they were too exhausted from their journey, so I decided not to wake them up. Oh, right, there were daily commissions to complete. I took out the card, then paused. Stupid, I couldn't read it yet. Anyway, I needed to study first.

Not long after, Paimon and Lumine woke up.

"Haaa~ that was a great nap," Paimon stretched her limbs, and Lumine did the same. They noticed me studying and jolted awake.

"Ronan, you're already awake?" Paimon asked.

"Oh, you two woke up. Your breakfast is here," I pointed to the table.

"How long have you been awake?" Lumine inquired.

"Not long. Seeing the two of you sound asleep, I went to the courtyard at the back of the inn to practice swinging with my new friend. Then I ate breakfast first and came back to continue my studies," I replied.

"What! Did you wake up early? Why didn't you wake us up? Did you see me sleeping? Was I funny when sleeping?" Paimon panicked.

"Don't worry, I didn't see anything, apart from your drool," I teased.

"Ronan, you meany! Waaaa, I can't marry anymore!" Paimon twirled midair and then fell to the ground comically.

I caught a glimpse of Lumine's red ear; she was facing her back to me, but she forgot to hide her ear.

"Lumine, can you tell me what our commission is today?"

"... We are still low-level adventurers, so the commission we have today is just errands. First, we need to help someone find their missing cat, the second is to search for Calla Lily, the third is to deliver some supplies to the nearest outpost, and the last one is to defeat 10 slimes," she said.

"Lumine, let's complete our commission first before going to Monstadt," I suggested.

"That will do," Lumine agreed. Paimon and Lumine ate their breakfast, with Paimon enjoying her food.

It was already 10 in the morning when they finished eating, so we left the Inn to find the missing cat. After an hour of searching, we found the cat. Lumine's magical sense easily led us to it.

This magical sense wasn't related to Elemental Sight; I thought she might be able to learn this skill after getting closer to the Archon statues.

Then we ventured out of the city near the lake to search for Calla Lilies. They were abundant here, and we followed the rule of leaving some behind for the environment.

This was an easy commission. I can't wait to get strong.
