13 Seeing In Green

Greetings, I'm back. Not 100% better, but at least good enough to write something of some kind of quality. Since a number of people didn't want to hear some of my problems and wanted me to update the story, I tried to write something during my recovery, but all I wrote was honestly jack sh*t.

I probably ended up rewriting this chapter around five times, all mainly because of how horrible the previous versions were. Nonetheless, I tried to make sure I uploaded this chapter two weeks at the very least from my last little notice. Sorry I couldn't get it out sooner, disappointed you all there.

Finally, it isn't exactly easy to implement the stat system from the Persona and Shin Megami into a story, especially when in tandem with other fiction universes. An example being that in Shin Megami Tensei Apocalypse, stats such as 80 to around 150 or so were what people usually had on their demons when challenging the final bosses.

Since such a number would be reached relatively quickly in stories, I'm going to alter that around a bit to say that stats far far higher would be required to take on beings like Metatron, Satan, etc. I'm talking far crazier numbers such as in the possible thousands and maybe more. When I refer to them, that's meaning the actual living versions, not the personas. The genuine articles are vastly stronger than the persona counterparts after all.

Anywya, hope you are enjoying the book, I know it's not the best compared to other writers, but I at least don't think it's bad. Though, that's just me.

『System/Persona Speech』

--------------------------------

Both Keqing and Ganyu stared into the dust cloud that formed from when the Magician slashed down at Ayato, the force behind the combined slashes having caused a relatively long line of destruction in the direction that the Magician struck.

As much as they didn't want to believe it, there was absolutely no way that he could have possibly survived such a strike. Especially in the condition that he was in, there was just no chance that he would be coming out of the attack alive.

Both the females could only watch with anger as they saw the Magician laughing like a sadistic madman, they could honestly feel its glee from where they stood. However, that glee was short-lived when they noticed the Magician become silent as its arms were shaking.

"Wh-What's happening...?" Keqing was confused when the Magician was seemingly struggling against something as its arms were shaking a bit from some kind of force. 'He can't be alive after that, can he...? It's not possible...'

"K-Keqing, the dust...!" Ganyu voiced as the purple-head turned her head towards the dust cloud beside the Magician. What they saw was some kind of faint glow coming from within the dust that was slowly but surely fading away, and as it did, they widened their eyes at what they saw.

As impossible as it should have been, they saw none other than Ayato standing tall beside the Magician. However, what was most shocking was the fact that he had managed to catch all six blades, due to them being quite thin, he had three blades gripped into each of his hands.

Just the sight was unbelievable, everything about it was. Ayato was on death's road, yet here he was standing, and even more, he had somehow CAUGHT the blades. The very same blades swung by the creature that had almost killed all three of them. If any of them tried that, they would surely have been sliced like a leaf.

The girls were stunned into silence at the sight, but soon watched in confusion as the Magician began panicking as it flailed around trying to break free from Ayato's grip. It had no choice but to let go of its swords as they didn't seem to budge from Ayato's hands.

As the Magician backed away in fear, Ayato's body slumped forwards as he dropped the blades onto the ground, his back hunched over slightly as his arms were dangling in front of him. What really stood out to them though were the strange green symbols that now covered his left arm.

It wasn't just his arm that was now green, the large wound that had been done to his neck seemed to have healed itself, but it left behind a large scar across his neck that was now glowing with a pulsing green colour.

"Ayato...?"

"...What happened to him?"

Ayato lifted his head up before his eyes snapped open, revealing a pair of piercing emerald eyes that glow ominously. A cruel smirk seemed to form on his face unconsciously as both his fists clenched tightly as he stared down the Magician, who flinched back at the stare.

Without warning, Ayato rushed towards the Magician almost like a wild beast. Once he appeared in front of the Magician, he grabbed two of the limbs before crushing them in his hands. He then rushed around to the other side before the Magician could react before kicking clean off two other of its limbs.

The Magician attempted to make a run for it as its limbs began regenerating, though it didn't get far as Ayato slid underneath it before using both of his arms to push himself against the ground with full force. The action ended up with the Magician being kicked into the air.

He then jumped up before hammer smashing both his fists downwards, resulting in the Magician being smashed down onto the ground, a large crack forming beneath it. Ayato then proceeded to land on top of it before grabbing its mask with both hands and crushing it as his smirk widened further.

As he crushed the mask, the Magician flailed around before finally stopping as Ayato had a bit of the Magician's slimy body running down his hands after having crushed the mask. Soon after, the slimy body of the Magician began to disappear as all that was left was Ayato standing on the grassy field.

He was breathing heavily, but not out of exhaustion, more like he was trying to calm himself down. After a few large breaths, he stumbled constantly as he turned to look towards the two females. He saw them staring at him in both shock and confusion, he didn't get to say anything before he felt himself collapse to the ground.

His vision stayed for a little longer to see both Keqing and Ganyu running over towards him, though black soon covered all he could see.

Ayato's eyes twitched a few times before slowly opening, he had to close them again when the rays of the sun invaded his vision. Blinking a few times, he looked to see that he was now staring up at what looked to be a ceiling made of wood.

Confused, Ayato groaned slightly as he slowly sat up from his position. Once he did, he looked around to see just where he was. From the looks of it, he was in an unfamiliar room, with him currently sitting down on the bed of said room.

"Where is this...? Wasn't I fighting the Magician?" Ayato couldn't help but mutter in confusion. All he remembered was meeting eyes with the Magician, completely hopeless as he was sure was going to be killed. Yet, here he was, sitting on the bed of a room he did not recognize.

Ayato got up from the bed and looked around in a confused manner, he walked on over towards the window and opened it. When he did, he felt a cold breeze enter as he looked outside to see that he was now looking over the streets of Liyue Harbor. Judging by the location, he was pretty sure he was in one of the other inns he had seen.

"...How'd I get here?" Ayato shook his head as he rubbed the back of his head with his right hand. 'Wait, what about the other two?!'

『Finally decided to wake up, kid?』

"W-Wha! Dagda!" Ayato was startled by the god's sudden voice. He normally wouldn't have been, but his confused state right now really wasn't doing him any good. "Dagda, what happened? What happened to the Magician? Keqing-san? Ganyu-san?"

『Calm down, kid. You've been knocked out for over three days』Dagda informed as Ayato twitched at the information. No wonder he was feeling so hungry right now...『The other two had brought you back here after the fight, the one with the cat-looking ears has been taking care of you』

"Cat ears...?" Ayato frowned in confusion before a look of understanding appeared on his face. "Oh, you mean Keqing-san... Yeah, her hair really does look like a pair of cat ears... Wait, what about the Magician then?! Did they manage to kill it?"

If that was the case, then that was really damn impressive. The Magician was no joke...

『Ha! As if those two would have managed something like that』Dagda scoffed as Ayato just became even more confused. He definitely wasn't in any condition to have beaten the Magician, so the only logical explanation was that those two did. Unless someone else arrived and did it.『It was you who kicked its ass, kid. Of course, after a little help from me』

"R-Really? Kinda hard to believe that, at least the Magician's gone... wait, what did you do exactly?" Ayato did recall that Dagda apparently had some kind of plan to defeat the Magician. That was entirely the reason why the god had told him to stay alive as long as possible.

『Take a look at your left arm, kid. You'll understand』

Ayato blinked a few times at that, though he did as told and raised his left arm to see just what Dagda meant. Ayato almost fell over in shock when he saw numerous markings littering his arm, the markings being a neon vibrant green colour.

These markings were very much familiar to him, these markings had only ever appeared on one person. These were the markings of a Godslayer, the very same thing that Nanashi had become after having been killed by Adramalech and being revived by Dagda.

There were only two Godslayers to have ever been introduced, Nanashi and Flynn. Though, unlike Nanashi, Flynn didn't seem to display any of the markings nor anything that would separate him really from other humans.

Having these markings on his arm, meant he was now a Godslayer.

"D-Dagda, did you...?"

『Nope, you aren't my Godslayer, kid. After all, it wasn't me who revived you』Dagda replied, and if Ayato could see him right now, he would see the god shaking his head while responding.『I should have guessed, but I only noticed not too long ago during the fight. I had to force that power out of you, otherwise, you would have met your end... again』

There was only one known method of someone becoming a Godslayer, that was through going through death and being revived by a deity. That was the only known method, any others are completely unknown.

『Considering how you were reborn by some entity, most likely a god, then it was natural that you'd become a Godslayer. For whatever reason though, that power was sealed away, thus I had to force my hand and break that seal. It's a miracle I could even do that in my current state』

Ayato listened to the words carefully, a frown soon appearing on his face. This brought many questions to his mind, just why were the powers sealed? Why did the Magician appear? He remembered the words from the system speaking of it being some kind of trial, so that might very well be the case.

If he was able to defeat the Magician on his own with these newfound Godslayer powers, then that at least meant he was a whole lot stronger than he was before. However, that didn't mean that other Arcana Shadows, if they do show up, would be as strong as the Magician. Most likely stronger.

Just because he had this new strength didn't mean he was going to slack, he was going to continue training as much as he could before anything like that happens again. That way he'd be as prepared as possible for another attack, the previous battle was suicide at its finest.

The training wasn't going to be easy though, not only did he need to train himself, but also his Personas. These Godslayer powers weren't exactly going to transfer over to his Personas, he needed to train them as much as possible. Just because he became much stronger after that fight, didn't mean his Personas had.

Their stats were their own, and his own personal strength that he gained by increasing his own level was his own. He just got a boost in response to how powerful the Persona he had equipped was, so he needed to train them up just as much as himself to truly become stronger.

His own system wasn't the same as Shin Megami, so he couldn't manually increase things such as Strength, Agility, and all that. He became more physically powerful at every level he gained, but he didn't know if he had a Magic stat like his Personas. If it was just like the Personas series, then he really needed to train his Personas up.

『Also, mind telling me something, kid?』

"What is it?"

『How did you manage to speak our language? I checked your memories and everything, yet nothing appeared that would prove evidence of how you would know how to speak our tongue. In fact, it should be impossible』

Ayato rose an eyebrow at this. "What are you talking about...?"

『Hmm... Don't worry about it』

"Y-You're awake!" Ayato didn't get to ask further as he turned his head after a small shout suddenly entered his ears. When he did, he saw that the source of the voice was none other than Keqing who was standing at the door to the room. The girl quickly rushed over and inspected him. "Are you okay? Nothing hurts?"

"N-No, I'm fine..." Ayato chuckled a bit as he took a step back to widen the distance between them. She had gotten uncomfortably close when she checked over him, Keqing soon noticed this though as she kept her composed look but had a blush of embarrassment on her face. "Are both you and Ganyu-san okay after the fight?"

"Yes, both of us were just tired. A small rest was more than enough for us." Keqing gave a smile as she responded to his question, Ayato nodding in relief. "Now that you're awake though, I'd like you to come with me, there's someone who'd like to meet you. Are you able to move properly?"

"Yeah, I can move fine. Who's this person?"

"Her name is Ningguang, she's the Tianquan of the Lique Qixing."

"I see, lead the way then. But, I need to take a shower first..."

--------------------------------

On the streets of Liyue Harbor, a certain familiar Archon was walking through as he watched a number of people repairing any damages that might have occurred due to the recent battle. It had been a few days now, but there was still rubble that needed to be cleared and some repairs to be done.

Zhongli, in quite some time now, had never been as confused as he had been a few days ago. During that night with the green moon, where those unidentifiable creatures began their attack on the harbor. Even in all of his thousands of years, he's never seen such things, nor that moon. He had seen a lot, that's for sure.

He had witnessed that larger creature appear initially as well, chasing after the young man that he had run into a number of days ago who had asked him for directions, and the same one that he had a small meal with at Xiangling's restaurant.

He had followed after the young man after Keqing had assisted him in luring it outside of the harbor, he would intervene if completely necessary. The creature was powerful, at least much more powerful compared to the average monster you would find around.

When he saw that Ayato was going to be struck down by the armed creature, he was going to intervene, although without being sighted. What happened next truly astounded him, it was almost like he had witnessed a transformation, although Ayato's appearance hadn't changed much.

Speaking of...

Zhongli turned his head and stopped walking when he saw the person in question walking alongside Keqing, they didn't seem to notice him as they continued walking. Zhongli narrowed his eyes a bit as he inspected the markings present on the male's exposed arm.

It was those markings that appeared on the male's body that truly astonished him when he witnessed Ayato rise from the ground before decimating that creature. Just staring at those markings caused a shiver to go down his spine, and he didn't know why.

'I can only hope you are not an enemy, Ayato...'

With that, Zhongli turned and walked away...

As Zhongli left, Ayato was oblivious to the deity's presence as he looked towards the area to which Keqing had led him to. It was a large open area that lead towards what looked to be a yellow-roofed temple of sorts, and looking around, he noticed a number of people walking around.

A few of them were also praying from what he could tell, and if he were to guess, they were probably praying to their Archon. From what he understood about the Archons, they were basically religious figures for each nation, so beings who the citizens praise and worship.

"What is this place?"

"It's the Yiyan Temple, people come here a lot to pay respects to Rex Lapis."

"I see..." Ayato muttered as he watched a few people lined up to pray together. Though, there was one thing he had noticed. 'Keqing-san called the Archon Rex Lapis, if I remember correctly, that's the commonly used name. I guess I should refer to the Geo Archon with that from now on, just in case...'

Anyway, Ayato followed Keqing up towards the temple where she then turned to walk towards the left. Ayato was a bit confused, but followed nonetheless as he had assumed they'd be entering the temple. Soon enough, he noticed that they were heading towards someone standing next to a strange-looking platform hovering beside him.

"Excuse me, do you sell the moon here?"

'...What?'

"Yes. How many would yo- Oh, Lady Keqing! I assume you want to ascend to the Jade Chamber, please go ahead and use the platform." The man quickly realized the person who spoke and gave a bow while saying this. The man then looked at Ayato. "You must be Ayato, correct?"

"Yes, I am. You know who I am?"

"Of course! Everyone has heard the news of your hand in saving Liyue Harbor from the recent attack, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"This here is Bu'yun, he's the one Ningguan has made responsible for keeping a check on who accesses the Jade Chamber." Keqing stepped in to explain as Ayato just nodded his head, a bit overwhelmed by the man's words. "The news about you defeating that creature had spread quite quickly. It didn't take long for you to become the main topic people have been speaking about, just be glad they don't know what you look like."

"Right..." Ayato smiled nervously as he heard this. He didn't know exactly how such news spread, but he was glad that no one knew what he looked like. If what Keqing said was true, he might have been swarmed by a number of people by now, or maybe he'd just have people staring at him. Both aren't really pleasant. "So, about this Jade Chamber..."

"It's a place owned by Ningguan, we of the Qixing monitor all the happenings in Liyue from it." Keqing explained. She then turned towards Bu'yun and nodded, the man nodding back as he stepped aside to let them step onto the platform. Ayato made sure to give a thankful nod as well. "This platform will take us to the Jade Chamber."

Ayato stepped onto the platform with Keqing as said platform soon began to release a faint glow, and soon enough, the platform began to ascend towards the sky. He looked in the direction of where they were going, and he saw what looked to be a floating building high in the sky above the ground.

"I've been meaning to ask..." Ayato was snapped out of his viewings as he looked down at Keqing when she had suddenly spoke. Keqing then looked towards Ayato's arms, then to his eyes. "...What are those markings exactly? I've seen anything like them before..."

"Well... I don't really know." Ayato shrugged as he held up his arm to his eyes. "I don't really remember too much on what transpired during the fight. I noticed these markings when I woke up today, but I don't really know where it is these markings even came from."

"I see..." Ayato noticed the slightly suspicious look Keqing sent him, but ultimately feigned ignorance towards the glance as he turned his attention back up towards the location. "We should be arriving at the Jade Chamber soon enough."

True to those words, the platform that they were standing on ascended quite quickly as the building in the sky got bigger and bigger every passing second. It didn't take long at all before the platform perched itself onto the side of the floating structure. Once it stopped moving completely, both Keqing and Ayato stepped off and onto the Jade Chamber's grounds.

Looking around, Ayato marvelled at the beautiful architecture. It wasn't too different to the other buildings on the ground, but it was still quite a wonderful sight. The place was pretty big as well, it must have taken quite a lot of work to build a place like this, especially one that floats in the damn sky.

"It's a pleasure to formally meet you, Ayato Kuragasaki."

Ayato looked towards the voice that spoke, and when he did, he saw a woman a number of years older than him walking out from within the building. She was quite the beauty, having long snow-white hair along with wearing quite the fancy attire. Behind her were two females, probably attendants or something.

"I'm glad to see that you have awoken, and without any potential remaining injuries I hope. Thank you for bringing him here, Keqing." The woman nodded towards Keqing, who nodded back as well. The woman then looked at Ayato before bowing her head slightly. "My name is Ningguan, the Tianquan of the Qixing."

"A pleasure to meet you. While you already know, my name is Kuragasaki Ayato." Ayato made sure to introduce himself anyways, it was the polite thing to do. He wasn't surprised that Ningguan knew his name, Keqing had probably already informed her of who he was prior to him waking up.

"Please follow me, we shall speak inside." Ningguan motioned for them to follow as her two secretarys bowed to them as both Ayato and Keqing followed after Ningguan as they entered into the main building. "Make yourself at home, I have invited you as an distinguished guest and also friend."

"I see, thank you."

The place that Ningguan lead them to was a large room that looked to be an office, with a large wooden desk and chair present at the centre of it. Ayato took notice of the many scrolls piled on the desk, along with numerous books as well. In fact, there were even more placed all around the place.

"Keqing-san mentioned that you wanted to speak to me about something, Ningguan-san. Is there something you need my help with?"

"Not quite, I personally wanted to present my thanks to you directly. For that, I had to wait for you to awaken. After all, it was thanks to you that Liyue Harbor hadn't suffered more due to the recent attack by those unknown creatures. Keqing told me about your involvement in the harbor's defense."

'Though, it's kind of my fault to begin with...'

"For that, I'd like to give you my sincerest gratitude." Ningguan smiled and once again gave him a bow, Keqing doing the same as well. Ayato just smiled nervously at the action. It was kind of his fault to begin with as the reason they're here was because of him, though it wasn't like he attracted them on purpose... "Though, that's not all I want to thank you for."

"Eh?"

"We here at the Liyue Qixing have many eyes and ears around Liyue, and we are quite informed about the happenings." Ningguan explained as her mouth then curled up into a larger smile. "I have heard of your assistance in helping the Conquerer of Demons in his battles, lessening his burden."

'Conquerer of Demons... She must be talking about Xiao-kun.' Ayato thought to himself. It was the only thing that made sense after all, Xiao was a person who went around purging stuff like that. "It wasn't much, I was just lending him a hand as any good friend would."

"That in itself is admirable, along with your humbleness to it all." Nangguan shook her head amused at Ayato's words. "There are very few that have spoken with the Conquerer of Demons, let alone become so close. The fact that you have accomplished that shows how much he has come to trust you."

"How... do you know this?" Ayato couldn't help but blink. He knew she said that she had eyes and ears all over Liyue, but what exactly were those eyes and ea- wait... 'Don't tell me...'

"The Wangshu Inn is merely a front, it is disguised over being a simple inn to house travelers and merchants alike that are on the road." Keqing was the one that answered with one with a small giggle. "It's true purpose is to provide assistance for the Conquerer of Demons and his duties, which you have also ended up doing."

"Indeed. All of the people working there are one of ours."

Ayato blinked at this as he gave a small sigh, he had a feeling they were referring to the people working at the inn. He had noticed a few times that the people there were keeping an eye on him, almost as if they were observing him. He didn't think much of it, but he hadn't expected something like this.

However, Ayato had noticed a certain tone in Keqing's voice when she spoke about Xiao. It didn't sound at all like she had a dislike towards him, it was more like she was upset about... his duties? Or maybe it's more like she's upset about Xiao having to perform his duties. Ayato wasn't entirely sure... He might ask her about it later.

"Of course, I do at least want to compensate and reward you for your help in all of it. I don't believe a simple thanks is enough." Ningguan spoke once more as Ayato blinked in confusion. "From the looks of it, the recent battle has reduced your clothing to quite a horrible state."

Ayato looked down at his clothes and gave a small laugh, while his pants were just fine, his shirt was ripped in a number of locations, and his shoes were also a bit worn out as well. It was honestly a miracle that any of it was in tact, especially after that fight. Especially his pants, how in the world are they still in good condition?

"Keqing, could you show him the outfit we had prepared for him? I have a few things I need to finalise, it shouldn't take long."

"Of course, just follow me."

Ayato nodded before following after Keqing, Ningguan walking over towards her desk and picking up a few of the scrolls and book. After Keqing led him to a place he could get changed, and also where the outfit they had apparently prepared for him was.

Keqing quickly left the room, most likely heading back to the office area. She left Ayato to finish changing, and he had to say that the clothes were quite... interesting. They were certainly fancy and not his usual style, if anything, he felt as if he was putting on a form of cosplay. You'd definitely get weird looks if you wore such clothing in public back in his old world.

Anyway, the clothing was a fancy chinese hanfu, one that looked pretty damn expensive looking. He wouldn't be surprised if it indeed was expensive. The outfit didn't come with any leggings though, which wasn't really a problem for him as his own pants more than suited it enough, so he just kept those on, only getting rid of his shirt and his old running shoes.

Though, there was one question in his mind...

How the hell did they know his size?

The clothes literally fit him perfectly...

Best not to think about it.

Anyway, after getting fully changed, Ayato looked at himself in the mirror with an uncertain look on his face. He wouldn't say he looked bad in it, he actually looked pretty damn decent. He just wasn't used to wearing anything as extravagant as this. After looking for a bit, he made his way out and back to the office.

"I must say, it fits you quite perfectly." Ningguan spoke as she saw Ayato walking back towards where they were. Keqing also looked pretty surprised at him, the clothing did suit him alot better than they initially thought. "Is it comfortable and to your liking?"

"It's certainly... different from what I'm used to. But, it is quite comfortable."

[Ayato's New Clothing]

"I'm glad, we can't have Liyue's new Jiù Shì Zhǔ wearing worn out clothing."

"Wait, what...?"

"It's the title people have started to spread around, and I must say that it is quite fitting." Keqing responded as Ayato tilted his head at the comment. "After all, if it weren't for you, the harbor might not have made it through the night. Rumors have even begun to spread that you might be an unknown adeptus."

'How the hell...?' Ayato couldn't help but be dumbfounded by the information as he felt a massive sweatdrop form on the back of his head. He soon deadpanned though. "They don't even know what I look like yet they make such assumptions?"

"The mortal mind is an interesting thing." Ningguan gave an amused laugh as Ayato just deepened his deadpan at the words. "Nonetheless, you more than earned that title. Don't be concerned, they don't know your name nor what you look like. You should be fine."

'Should be... emphasis on the 'should' there.' Ayato sighed as he shook his head. "I feel like my life just became even more complicated than it already is..."
