4 Breakfast

In all honesty, the concept of 'Noelle' still existing felt rather stretched and exaggerated.

It's not that 'Noelle' still remained dormant inside her. That was a fact she knew. But at the same time, it's not that 'she' was completely gone too.

Was the concept of soul actually real? Were there actually two souls inside of one body? Was her assumption correct?

Nonetheless, she couldn't completely understand it. The realm of the supernatural was beyond her understanding.

She rather felt nonchalant about the results of the Knight Examination. Yet, her heart felt otherwise. But it wasn't exactly her. Meaning, it must have come from 'her'.

The tears that flowed was the very evidence of it.

That was the proof that 'Noelle', still wasn't completely gone.

But then… Why was it that it was her who was the dominant instead of 'her'? Shouldn't it be 'her' considering that 'she' lived in a fantasy-like world?

And if we were going for the normal setting of transmigrating into another body, shouldn't it be that she would become 'her', and 'she' would become her?

A complete combination of two sets of soul and personality into a one body.

But Noelle's situation didn't feel like that. Not only she didn't feel an ounce of soul-likeness from 'her', she didn't feel any changes in her.

It felt like she just got yanked into the original Noelle's body and that was it. No special effects or anything.

And to make things worse, the memories that she received from the original body wasn't exactly complete. She didn't even know what happened to 'her' during the night before she transmigrated into 'her'.

She actually felt rather annoyed as this was the first time since a while that she couldn't completely understand something.

"Are you really fine sweety?" Lisa lowered her head, matching Noelle's height and said, "You can always talk to us."

"Yes, yes, I'm fine now," Noelle said while smiling.

After talking for a bit more, Noelle finally got the approval to take a day off—which they insisted that she should go for a week break.

But Noelle, who was trying to be 'Noelle', just refused. She believed that accepting that offer was very unlike 'her'.

"Well, have a nice break," Jean said.

Bowing her head, Noelle smiled and said, "Thanks Miss Jean."

"Take care sweety, fufu," Lisa added.

Keaya looked at Jean and shamelessly said, "Hey, Jean. I think I wanna have some break time too—"

"No," Jean flat out said.

"Ehh…"

Finally leaving the room, Noelle went outside the Knights of Favonius Headquarters and started to look for a place to eat.

Noelle still hadn't had breakfast yet as she went straight to the Grandmaster's office.

"Hmm, let's see." Noelle browsed through her memories and found a place. "Cat's Tail was it? It seems that it is a popular place to eat."

Cat's Tail Tavern.

After arriving at the place, she walked in front of the counter.

"Oh? Hello, Noelle! Good morning," the blonde-haired woman wearing a hat said, waving at Noelle.

"Good morning, Miss Margaret," Noelle replied with a smile.

A black cat appeared. "Meow~" it said.

Noelle patted the black cat and said, "Good morning to you too as well."

"What dish do you recommend for today?" Noelle asked, looking back at Margaret. "I haven't had any breakfast yet, so something heavy would be fine."

Margaret placed her both hands on her waist and said, "Alrighty, got your order. You can take a seat anywhere, your dish will be brought by Diona."

"Thanks," Noelle replied as she started looking for a seat.

Finding a seat in the corner, Noelle went and sat on the table.

After a while, a short girl with pink hair and a pair of cat ears appeared, holding a plate that had two slices of steak.

It was Diona.

"Good morning, Noelle! Here's your order," Diona said happily, placing the dish on Noelle's table.

"Good morning to you too, Diona," Noelle replied with a smile.

Diona continued to stare at Noelle's face. "Hm? Did something wrong happen?" she asked, tilting her head a bit.

Noelle blinked once. "...Why? No, I mean, is there something wrong?" she asked back while smiling, wondering what this girl was talking about.

"Hmmm… well, there was not..?" Diona said, still tilting her head.

"What..?" Noelle was now really confused, having three question marks floating above her head.

"Please forget what I said, I think I'm just mistaken."

"Mistaken about what? Now I'm curious"

"Sorry, nothing at all! Please enjoy your food!" Diona said as she dashed out.

The moment that Diona saw Noelle smiling up close, she thought that her smile was kinda stiff. Was she just seeing things? If not then wow! This was the first time she saw Noelle annoye!

For her, Noelle was a very kind and hardworking girl. Who could have managed to annoy her?

On the other hand, Noelle didn't understand what just happened. What's up with her?

After a few seconds, Noelle started eating, not minding anymore what just happened.

As she ate and ate, she realized something.

'Wow, I sure can eat a lot now,' she thought to herself, feeling that she can still eat more.

Raising her hand, she called out to Diona and happily said, "Excuse me~".

She took another order from Diona, and this time, Diona was not seeing the annoyed smile of Noelle anymore!

It took four plates for her to be completely satisfied. Although that couldn't be said the same for her wallet.

For once, she was tempted to seriously advance to knighthood. Though she might have failed just again.

Money sure was the pinnacle of power…

"Wow! Noelle! You really ate four plates of dishes!" Margaret said as her eyes widened.

It was so surprising to her. After all, even though Noelle was roaming the Mondstadt for how long she knew, they became acquainted with each other just recently.

It happened during 'Noelle's preparation of the Knight Examination to be specific.

Noelle coughed a bit and said, "As you may know, I still hadn't had breakfast yet so…"

"Haha! I guess Iearned something new every now and then," Margaret teased Noelle.

Although her eyesight, for just a second, lingered around Noelle's waist that didn't change and still maintained its slimness.

If people could hear her inner voice, they would surely hear this line:

'What an unfair world we lived in.'

A/N:

I apologize so much for not posting.

Finals are now ongoing, so I have so many things that are needed to do and finish. That still doesn't include the exams, which I still need to prepare.

Nonetheless, I would still try to keep updating this fic.

Belated merry christmas and a happy new year y'all!
