2 True Beginnings

Both Amber and Zion were silent as they stared down towards the makeshift target that Zion had created in his workshop, Amber then slowly raised up none other than the Pyrus Compound Bow that Zion had literally completed not even five hours ago.

Even if this bow wasn't something that completely satisfied Zion's requirements, he was more than willing to sell it to others, this was a shop he was running here after all. On top of that, considering how backward this world was, even a bow like this was many times better than most.

"Here we go..."

Amber took a small breath before narrowing her eyes. It wasn't that she was unconfident in her archery skills, quite the opposite in fact. It was just that this wasn't her normal bow, so she was unsure. This bow functioned differently from a normal one, it had a handle you pull instead of the actual string.

Even so, Amber had to admit, pulling back the handle on the bow felt pretty damn comfortable and smooth. It helped also that the arrow Zion provided for her could be safely and firmly secured into the bow, in a sense, she felt completely secure holding the bow.

After a few quick seconds...

"Fire!"

As soon as Amber released the handle on the bow, the arrow was fired at an incredible speed as it didn't even take a single second before the metal arrow was now embedded deep into the rather thick metal sheet that was the target.

"Woah, that was way faster than how my arrows normally go! But, they're arrows made of metal, right? So, how..." Amber widened her eyes as she noticed the speed at which the arrow flew. It was easily more than three times faster than her usual arrows. "Is it... because of this bow?"

"Here, try channeling Pyro into the bow this time." Zion's voice caught her attention as she turned to see him handing her another metal arrow. He had a simple smile on his face as he said this. "You said you have a pyro Vision, right? You'll be in for a surprise."

Ever since Zion came here to this world, he had made sure to familiarise himself with a few of the basic common sense pieces of information here. One of them was the knowledge of Visions, they were essentially blessings from the gods that granted their owners the ability to manipulate the elements.

At first, he was pretty interested in them, but he kind of lost interest when he started working on his inventions here in the workshop.

"Put pyro into it...?" Amber tilted her head as she accepted the arrow. Although confused, Amber quickly loaded the arrow into the bow before aiming at the target once again. "Focus... alright, here we go!"

Zion narrowed his eyes as he saw the Vision on Amber's waist pouch begin to glow, this was soon followed by the LED lights on the bow as they too began to glow in a deep fiery red colour. Soon enough, they both watched as flames began to circulate violently from the tip of the arrow.

"E-Eh...?!" Amber flinched back but quickly recomposed herself. It was obvious that she wasn't expecting such a big reaction before the arrow was even fired. Focusing once more, she aimed towards the target with a bit of sweat running down her face. "And... fire!"

As soon as the arrow was released, it shot forwards pretty much the same as the other time, but there was one clear difference this time around. The tip of the arrow constantly released a wave of fire, resulting in a trail of twisting pyro strands as it flew across the air.

The biggest thing was when the arrow struck the target, instead of just sticking into the metal and burning it, it struck the target before a small explosion of flames erupted as soon as it hit. While the explosion wasn't strong enough to destroy the target, the obvious scorching it had on the surface was evident in its power.

"..."

Amber could only stare at the target in silence before looking down at the bow in her hand, she honestly couldn't believe what she saw. She never once recalled her shots ever doing something like that, and she had a feeling it was all due to this bow.

With an unsure and amazed look, she looked towards Zion, who was only staring at her with an amused and satisfied look. Seeing her look, Zion seemed to understand just what she wanted as he began to speak.

"Surprised, huh? This is one of the charms of this bow." Zion chuckled as he began to explain. "One of its features is that when Pyro is infused into the bow and fired, it amplifies the effect of the Pyro energy by 50%."

Hearing this, Amber could only stare at him blankly before her expression immediately changed into one of shock. She had never in her life heard of any kind of bow that was capable of something like that, the only things remotely similar were the weapons told in legends.

To put them simply, the weapons she was talking about were those said to only be a myth, whether or not they existed presently or some time in the past was up for debate. According to most people, the only people who could possibly know of their whereabouts were the Archons.

"Although it's nothing too great, it's still a pretty good effect."

"...Nothing too great?" Amber felt her eyebrow twitching constantly as she heard these nonchalant words coming out of Zion's mouth. She honestly wondered if there was something wrong with his head, did he know just what he was saying? "The effect is insane! Do you realize just how many people would kill for this?!"

Hearing this, Zion merely shrugged.

He was being completely honest in his words, he knew he could eventually do much more than what this bow could do. He was only limited by the resources he currently had on hand, as well as the lack of some knowledge when it came to certain topics.

"Wait... you said one of its charms." Amber seemed to realize before looking at Zion with widened eyes as she then asked with a look of both curiousnesses as well as restrained excitement. "What else can this bow do?"

"Glad you picked up on that." Zion chuckled. "The Pyrus Compound Bow, the name of that weapon, has three main features added to it. You already know of the Pyro amplifier, the second one is that it can be changed into a more compact form, the bow is pretty big after all."

Under the guidance of Zion, Amber clicked on the button on the bow. She then watched in amazement as the machinery inside the bow did its work and quickly folded the bow at multiple sections before it became small enough that she could honestly hang it on her waist if she wanted to.

"Th-This is incredible...!" Amber could very much say that she had never seen this before! Even in the legends regarding those mythical weapons, not once had she heard of anything like this! "What's the last thing? You said three, right?!"

Seeing her look of excitement, Zion merely chuckled.

"As for the last thing..."

"..."

"..."

"This is awesome!"

At the present time, the only thing that the people of Mondstadt could hear at this moment was Amber's screams. Even when compared to the banging sounds they've been hearing lately, the volume couldn't be compared to Amber's present shouts.

The citizens who managed to find Amber could only watch in confusion as she looked to be swinging from building to building while constantly firing out what looked to be some kind of wire that would either pull her towards the building it attached to or she would use it to swing after firing it.

Ever since Amber was told about the grappling function of the bow, Amber did not hesitate for a second to buy the bow from Zion. She honestly found it hard to believe that such a miraculous bow could be sold for only 530,000 Mora!

She was honestly prepared to severely cripple her wallet if it meant getting this bow, its effects, and overall quality was just way too good to pass up. Amber had initially guessed the bow to cost at the absolute very least 5,000,000 Mora or so.

For a weapon that could easily contend with those from the legends, a little bit over five-hundred thousand Mora was a complete steal!

"Hm?" At this time, a certain blue-haired knight could be seen casually patrolling around the city. This was none other than Kaeya, the Knights of Favonius's local Calvary Captain. "Is that Amber? Just what in the world is she doing?"

Kaeya couldn't help but look up with an interested look on his face as he saw Amber zooming from building to building, he had also taken note of the strange bow that Amber had in her hands. It was obvious that the wire he saw was being fired from that weapon.

"I certainly don't recall Amber ever having a bow like that..." Kaeya muttered as he then watched as Amber used the momentum from the grappling hook to launch herself upwards before she activated her wind glider. "That looks fun!"

Kaeya had to admit, he wanted to give it a try himself.

Amber obviously looked like she was having fun.

"I guess I'll have to ask her later."
