Talk with the stressed Dragon (1/2)

The massive azure dragon that had four wings, six if the tiny wings at the back are included, with its enormous size, covered a vast land as it flew towards Sal Vindagnyr.

This dragon is Dvalin. An elemental anemo dragon that is friends with the Anemo Archon.

Dvalin has an enormous build and is so far one of the largest beings in this world.

His entire body is colored in a shade of blue, with his main body being a lighter Azure blue, while his talons and horns are colored in more of a darker midnight blue.

Dvalin also emits light from different areas of his body, notably his eyes which seem to have a blue flame effect, and the scales on his wings that emit an aqua glow.

He possesses a total of six large wings on his body (three on each side) allowing him to fly. Behind those wings is his massive tail, which resembles bird-like feathering.

He possesses two horns on his head that resembles that of a goat, with a blue gradient that gradually fades to black. His front beak is incredibly sharp and possesses very sharp teeth, albeit a low amount.

All in all, he looked like a majestic and powerful being. One that is respected by humans and treated equally by the Gods.

Ever since the Anemo Archon, Barbatos, entered sleep a few hundred years ago, he had been protecting Mondstadt from external threats.

This includes but is not limited to mutated creatures that normal humans cannot handle and remnants of fallen Gods' hatreds.

And since Andrius Boreas, the Dominator of Wolves and the former God of Blizzards gave up his physical form to transfer his power to the lands of Mondstadt, thick snows now cover some parts of the region.

Dvalin occasionally sweeps them from the face of the earth with his massive wings, but pretty soon, they will just come back.

This, of course, greatly annoyed the dragon. For the Anemo Archon, this trivial task will be quite easy. But since Barbatos was currently asleep, the responsibility was passed on to him.

'Barbatos...' While flying, a low growl escaped from Dvalin's mouth. 'When will you wake up, you lazy bard...'

He was practically doing the responsibilities the Anemo Archon was supposed to do, and he's pissed about it. However, he still does it with honor.

And just as he thought that things won't get any more complicated, something happened in Sal Vindagnyr that needed him to investigate.

Upon arriving at Sal Vindagnyr, he was immediately greeted with a snow storm. Due to this, he had to fly higher to inspect the mountain closely.

When he finally arrived at the top of the mountain, he saw a floating giant pillar hovering above the mountain.

He looked at it for a moment, flying steadily mid-air as the snow swirled around his wings. 'What is that...?'

Just then, a voice was heard by the dragon.

"Umm, excuse me but... Can I help you?"

It was a clear and steady voice; there was no abnormal tone and it sounded very calm and confident. But at the same time, curiosity and carefulness were attached to it.

The dragon turned his head and looked at where the source of the voice was.

Surprisingly, the source of the voice wasn't that far from him. Standing on a platform formed with ice, a youth that had completely white hair and ice-blue crystal-like eyes wearing noble clothing from humans was looking at him with a curious and wary expression.

Dvalin blinked twice for a moment and replied to the youth. "And you are?"

The youth, clearly on guard in front of the dragon flying above him, heaved a sigh as if a load has been taken off his chest.

"I'm Isaac and I dwell in this mountain." Isaac introduced himself with the same calm expression. "I suppose we can talk more on the ground...?"

The dragon squinted its eyes as it looked at the youth named Isaac. 'Odd... This mountain has been known for freezing humans that enter it... Yet this human is completely fine...'

However, after a few moments, his eyes suddenly contracted as if he discovered something. 'No... This man is no human... He is full of pure and chaotic cryo element...'

The dragon inspected more of Isaac while still flying mid-air. 'But how is he able to stabilize all of that chaotic elemental energy? Even that wolf had to release his chaotic cryo elemental particles in the form of blizzards in the past... Hmm...'

Isaac watched as the giant dragon just fly above him without doing anything. On the surface, Isaac's expression looks unbothered, however, inside him is completely different. 'Why is he not answering... Can he not understand me? Wait no, we just conversed earlier...'

After a few moments of the two just staring at each other, the dragon once more spoke. "Very well."

After saying that, Dvalin's wings started slowing down as he slowly drifted down to the mountain summit.

His body touched the ground and the surrounding rocks trembled. Isaac also jumped down from his ice platform and went down.

Surprisingly, the peak of the mountain was able to give enough room for Dvalin to fit half of his body with the other half hanging outside.

After seeing Isaac get down, Dvalin spoke first. "Tell me, who and what are you?"

"Just as I said before, my name is Isaac. As for what I am... Err..." Isaac had trouble answering the question. What can he answer? He doesn't even know what he is too. As for being a God, he still hadn't confirmed that, after all, there may be other requirements to be called a 'God', and nobody else except Moccus and Daleth has given their opinion.

"I am... A human."

"Lies," Dvalin growled. "You best tell the truth, or I shall view you as a threat."

'I knew it won't work...' Isaac thought. Breathing a heavy breath, he sighed. "Look, even I don't know what I am. But I can rest assure you, I view myself as human and carry no malice."

Dvalin stayed silent for a moment as if he was thinking of something. As if changing the topic, he asked another question. "Then why do you choose to dwell here?"

"Because I want to. It brings me comfort staying here." Isaac lied. What was he supposed to do? Tell the giant dangerously-looking dragon one of his weaknesses?

"Then—"

Before Dvalin could ask any more questions, Isaac spoke first. "Hold on, you've been asking me questions... Isn't it normal for me to ask back?"

"..." Dvalin went silent for a few moments. Dvalin replied with a growl. "Fine... I am a believer of equal exchange, so you can ask me two questions... So ask away... Isaac."

'Yes!' Isaac slightly cheered inside. Keeping his calm composure, he asked Dvalin questions he wanted to ask. "First question, who are you?"

"I am known as the Erstwhile King of the Skies, Dvalin. I serve the Anemo Archon and am one of the guardians of Mondstadt." Dvalin gave his answer.

'Anemo Archon? He's the God of Mondstadt and one of the seven archons if I remember correctly...' Isaac thought as he grasped his chin as if thinking of something. He then looked at Dvalin. 'So this guy serves the Anemo Archon, huh...?"

The Anemo Archon naturally got Isaac interested. He is known and recognized as a true God by Celestia so Isaac wants to know more about this God.

Out of curiosity, he asked Dvalin. "Can you tell me more about the Anemo Archon?"

"Haaa..." Dvalin deeply sighed as if a pain in his neck appeared.

'...Huh?' Isaac thought with a confused expression. 'Wait, is something wrong?'

After deeply sighing, Dvalin finally answered Isaac's question. "The Anemo Archon Barbatos is one of the Seven Archons recognized by Celestia. He rose up to the Archon status after defeating and usurping the God of the Storm's power 1,100 years ago."

As Dvalin spoke, Isaac was listening to him intently. When he heard that Barbatos usurped another God's power, he immediately got interested. 'A God's power can be stolen...?!'

'It's a good thing that I didn't say that I'm a God... Who knows what this dragon might've done.' Isaac internally sighed in his mind. 'Maybe he would've killed me and usurped my power...'

Well, even if Isaac denied that he was a God, he still felt relieved that he didn't openly say he is one.

"After seeing how a lowly elemental being such as a wind spirit overthrow a powerful God, Celestia recognized Barbatos' feats and gave him the seat of the Anemo Archon." Dvalin finished speaking.

"Wow..." Isaac said with a low voice. "So, where is the Anemo Archon now?"

"Asleep." Dvalin sighed and said with an expression looking as if he was tired. "The damn bard has been sleeping somewhere for a few hundred years now."

"And I have since done his work for him."

"..." Isaac was left speechless and did not say anything. Dvalin also went silent after a deep sigh as Isaac looked at him with pity.
