5 Chapter 5: Goals

(Alexander POV)

Shortly after leaving the guild, I was able to find a pub to eat and stay in a room to spend the night. While I spend the first day of my new life in this familiar yet unfamiliar world. I thought about some gossip that came from drunkards while I was eating earlier.

It turned out that Grandmaster Varka was preparing for an expedition that he would lead in about half a year's worth of time.

That means as long as I am not mistaking the timeline the Traveler should arrive at Mondstadt in about a year from now. If my memory serves me right. I may have been playing Genshin Impact for about three years, but it is primarily to collect the female characters or should I call them Waifus. Although I enjoyed the game's plot and music, I was not hardcore enough of a fan to delve into the game's lore or read everything it had to offer. So me getting stuff wrong might happen.

As I continued my inner monologue question popped into my mind.

What is my goal?

What do I want to achieve?

What do I do now?

When I was back on Earth I wanted to get Isekaid in Genshin and now that I am here what do I do now?

I stood up and took the cheap wooden chair next to the table in my room. I placed it near the open windows for a better view. My room was situated on the second floor of the pub, so I had a great elevated view. While I gazed at the streets filled with drunk men who came out of the pub, confusion and doubt continued to linger in my mind.

I then muttered "What now?" as I gazed up at the beautiful moonlight.

After a few minutes of looking at the moon in the dark sky, I attempted to search for answers to the questions that were racing through my mind.

'What is my goal? Currently, it's to get stronger. From what I have seen in the game, this world might not be that dangerous. However, I cannot afford to be weak. I don't know what the end of the game holds, and things might turn south really quickly. Therefore, I need to have at least enough strength to survive.' I answered in my mind as I reaffirmed my resolve that I would follow from now.

'What do I want to achieve? I'm not quite sure what I want to achieve. All I know is that right now, I want to explore the world and savor the food and scenery in every corner of Teyvat. Being a hero does not interest me, as the Traveler can take on that role. As for being a villain, I'll leave that to the Fatui. I simply aspire to be a free adventurer, able to come and go as I please.'

What do I do now?

Now this question is the hardest of them all. Currently, I am aware that the plot will begin in a year. Should I intervene and resolve Mondstadt's plot before the Traveler arrives, or should I allow it to unfold naturally and only offer assistance when needed?

No wait. In the first place, why should I even help? The Traveler should be able to fix things up and do I even need to stay on Mondstadt?

Should I head for another nation? Should I go find my Waifus? No, I need to get stronger first.

I need to get stronger. What is on Mondstadt that can help me grow stronger?

After a couple of minutes of contemplating, I found two answers.

The Anemo element and Dvalin.

Dvalin the Dragon of Mondstadt.

Most of the stories I know rank Dragons quite highly. If so, Dragon Materials would be sought after. I do not need to kill the dragon but I could at least gather enough scales that might be useful in crafting gear and his blood. I would not go wrong in collecting dragon blood.

After thinking about a lot of things I decided to go to travel towards Liyue as I strive to get stronger. Then before the plot starts I would return to Mondstadt. Depending on my growth I would either finish the plot before the Traveler appears and harvest a lot of scales and blood by beating up Dvalin or if I deem my strength insufficient I'll just join the team that would take him on like on the game.

After finding answers to my doubts about my new life, I felt a sense of liberation as if my shackles had been broken. To put it simply, it felt like breaking out of a dark room and seeing the sunlight for the first time.

(Third Person POV)

In a room on the second floor of a bustling pub, a young man could be seen clenching his fist as his eyes shone bright as he looked up at the moon.

As time goes by as he continues to answer his doubts a gentle gust of wind surrounds him while unaware of the phenomenon.

Little by little the gentle gust grew stronger but still gentle enough to not make a mess of the room.

After answering the last of his doubt the gentle wind compressed in front of him startling the young man.

The gentle wind compressed into a greenish-blue crystal with the symbol of Anemo encased into a bronze circle with 3 pairs of wing-like motifs below and a pointy tail.

The young man was taken aback, clearly not expecting things to develop in this manner. However, he let out a handsome smile as he grabbed his newly created vision.

He got up from the chair and moved to his bed while taking out an Anemoculus from his inventory. He then opened his mouth and bit into the sphere made of pure Anemo energy.

Shortly after consuming it, he passed out. As he lost consciousness, a wooden ship's steering wheel appeared in front of him, slowly turning around little by little.
