Chapter 4: Cooking

(Alexander POV)

The local branch of the guild in this village is quite small. From the exterior, it looks like a modest hut and upon entering, you would find yourself facing Katheryne, who stands behind the counter. Behind her, there is only a single back room. On the left side of the room, there is a board with quests that adventurers can choose to embark on.

Upon entering, I made eye contact with a beautiful bionic puppet from Snezhnaya who greeted me.

"Ad astra abyssosque! Welcome to the Adventurers' Guild. What could I do for you?"

With a smile, I responded, "Hello Miss Receptionist, I'm here to apply as an Adventurer."

The woman with a smile on her face handed me a form requesting my name, age, gender, and area of expertise. When I inquired about the "area of expertise" section, she kindly explained.

"The 'area of expertise' section is used by the guild when they need to summon people with specific skills. For instance, if the guild needs assistance with high-priority missions such as scouting for a monster group that could potentially invade a town, or if someone requests help from skilled trackers to locate a person, then the guild will refer to the 'area of expertise' section to find the right people for the job. What you input in this section depends on your individual strengths. Some members may be skilled trackers, some are talented hunters, and others may specialize in combat."

"I see, makes sense."

I realized that everything made sense when I thought about it. In the game, the Traveler just goes to the guild to do daily commissions, but in the real world, being an Adventurer is a legitimate job that people depend on for their livelihood, and not just a place to go to earn 60 primogems.

After filling up the form I returned it to Katheryn she then started explaining the ins and outs of the guild.

"There are six guild ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Gemstone."

"The quests you can undertake depend on your rank. However, in small branches like this one, we only offer Bronze to Gold quests. The high-level quests are usually available at the adventurer guild in the capital of every nation. But even if the small branches don't have high-level quests, if the receptionist from those branches notices a high-ranked adventurer, they will inform them if there is a high-priority quest available at the capital branches. Keep this in mind."

"There is a system called daily commission quests in the guild. Each day, the guild would assign four random quests to every adventurer. These quests mostly come from requests made by the villagers in the area. Although it is not mandatory to complete the daily commissions every day, the rewards for completing them are quite substantial, which is particularly beneficial for new adventurers. So I do recommend you check in on the guild daily if you have time."

As I heard that I nodded my head. It seems the daily commission is still a thing in this world. The grind never stops I guess.

"Without further ado, please allow me to officially welcome you, our new avid adventurer, into the Guild!"

"Here take this. This is your Guild Card, aside from using this to take quests, you can also use that as a valid identification when you enter the capital cities. If you ever lose your card, you can simply report it to the nearest adventurer's guild and it could be replaced but you need to pay a fee."

I took the green colored card that screams Mondstadt. I silently scrutinized every part of the card and nodded my head.

Name: Alexander

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Area of Expertise: Cooking

Rank: Bronze

I then asked about the card design. Which the smiling lady answered.

"The adventurer card will be based on the nation you joined. However, you don't need to worry because even if you travel to another country, the card will still work. It's basically an advertisement that signifies you as a proud Mondstadt adventurer."

I nodded my head in agreement. Even though it may sound strange, it doesn't bother me at all, and I actually like this design. The front of the card is a green card with my details written on it, while the back of the card has the same design as the name card you would receive upon reaching level 7 of Mondstadt's reputation.

I smiled at Katheryne and then said "Well I should take my leave, pretty lady. Thank you for your time."

While it might sound weird I'm hitting at something practically an android, well, design-wise I liked her design. Second, this is not canon yet when I got transmigrated but people theorize that Katheryn is made by the Harbinger Sandrone which is also my type, and because she made them she might have access to them or even control them I feel I need to impress her up a bit. Meh, who am I kidding I just like the pretty android lady.

Katheryne then replied, "Ad Astra Abyssosque, Adventurer! With effort, you shall reach the stars and conquer the abyss!"

I left the guild to look for an inn to stay the night (people might wonder where my money came from but it came from Hilicurls. I don't know why but when you kill Hilicurls just like in the game when they turn to ash they will drop some mora, a mask, or some random stuff they carry). As I walked around looking my mind went up to the Area of Expertise that I placed.

Cooking

I chose Cooking as my specialty because it was my hobby before I arrived here. Though I am not a master chef, I would rate myself 8 out of 10 in cooking. I also remembered the Gourmet Supremos and other cooking adventurers in Teyvat, so I thought it would be a good fit. While I am not familiar with Teyvat's ingredients and seasonings, I believe in my adaptive talent.

I will continue to adapt to whatever this world throws at me.
