CODE

In an unknown location_

Thirteen years earlier_

"CODE, a system that governs everything and anything. Some multiverses call it 'The Matrix', others 'Void'. It is said that those who crack CODE break the chains of human limitation and become one with the gods. But I guess it pointless to explain all this to you of all people, isn't it Professor? I've heard that you were once at the verge of cracking CODE, or am I mistaken?"

The Professor was at the brink of death. He was strapped to a bloody chair and had blood all over his face and clothes. He even had a screwdriver stabbed into his thigh, all the way through the chair. He looked at the man standing before him.

"I've been told a lot about you, Xander. 'The man who is always staring into thin air in thoughtless fantasy.' You're wrong to say I was once at the verge of cracking CODE. I admit my methods were faulty, but still I managed to break free of CODE and the human limitations that come with it. I could see it all, past, present and future. I assure you that there will come beings who will bring an end to your reign." 

"I know. I know myself as 'The man who is always staring into thin air, putting together images of the future that are fed into his mind.'

"For your persistence, I will give you a hint."

The man bent down to hear what the Professor had to say. Immediately the Professor finished speaking, a gunshot was heard. The young man stood up and placed the gun in his pocket, then left.

The present_

Evan's tone changed to a worried one.

"As time passes by, gangs are starting to join together forming backward agencies that claim to hold the key to cracking CODE and such stuff.

"An example is the cult of Eblis. They are trying to awaken Abaddon, a being who is believed to be the first to crack CODE, believing that he will open their eyes and shed light on them.

"These organizations pose a major threat to the state and human lives. Your next mission will be a reconnaissance mission against the cult of Eblis. Observe and report back. Do not engage, are we clear?" Evan said this looking at Jason. "Why are you looking at me?" Jason tried acting victim in vain.

"I know this mission seems dangerous, especially since were dealing with the biggest rebel group in the state, but as long as you stay low, everything's gonna be alright. Besides, you'll be working with squad Beta."

"That's the same as going into a mission with a bunch of kids."

"Whether you like it or not isn't my problem Jason. You're still going to work with them. Since Alicia was top this time, she'll be the squad leader during the mission..."

"Actually sir, I was wondering if you could let it be Lucius this time."

Alicia turned and looked at Lucius, who remained silent.

"Any reasons for that Alicia?"

"No. I just think he'll do it better since it's a reconnaissance mission."

"Okay. Lucius will be the squad leader. This meeting is now over. You are dismissed."

Everyone got up and started leaving. Evan put the file away the looked at Lucius. "Lucius, can I have a word with you."

Lucius stopped and looked at Evan.

"Sure."
