North Night
Interesting novel that held my attention until the end, but very mixed overall. Some parts I couldn’t put down while others were horrible and I had to skip over a few chapters. The good parts are the overall character arc, where the heroine grows as a person and becomes more of a human being than an emotionless robot. The MC’s relationship with the ML is also well developed, with a clear progression over the story. Another good thing are the intricate plots within each “chapter” of the story. They were well set up, no repetition, each dilemma was unique and I couldn’t figure out how the MC was going to resolve them and I had to keep reading as I couldn’t wait to find out. Most of these plots were resolved by logical solutions that I could understand and agree with. Now the not so good parts; some of the plots are resolved in ridiculous ways, by the author literally pulling a solution out of his/her a**. Where the MC or the enemy suddenly pulls out a new ability/spell/weapon that completely breaks the rules and was never mentioned before, just to ”resolve” that current problem. The author doesn’t spend much time fleshing out the rules of the world other than the power levels, and that’s ok, because the rules don’t matter, they’re subservient to the narrative. However for me that detracts from the story as I can’t get involved in the novel when I know the author could just upset what I think I know about the world at any moment. The worst part for me about this book though, is oddly enough, the “romance” part, given this is a romance novel. The first part of this book takes place when the MC is 12 years old. She meets the ML at this point and their “relationship” develops. Reading any part of this stage just made my skin crawl, especially when the author writes about how the (Thousand year old) ML looks seductively at the (12 year old) MC. IF The MC were my daughter, it would be shotgun time, and I don’t mean a wedding neither. There doesn’t seem to be any reason for this, as later on the story just jumps forward 5 years, so that she’s at least a decent age to carry on the relationship (even if she would still not be of legal age in some countries!). Why not start the relationship at that stage instead of at an age when most kids would just be playing with dolls? Sure, mentally the MC may be a grown woman, but that’s just a cop out. He’s still a dirty old man! 👴🏻 As I said at the beginning, interesting novel, but mixed. Good enough to read but not a keeper. In fact, I never want to read this novel ever again. I’m going to go and scrub my brain now to get that paedophilic rubbish out of my head.
This novel gave me a roller-coaster of emotions. Also, even without snu snu, you'll definitely stay for the plot. The characters are lovable and they're well-described as if you know them personally. I love power couples and depiction of love, friendship, family...that go beyond words. I just ❤️❤️❤️ this novel!
If there is anything more than 5 stars I'm willing to give this book. It's sooooooo beautifully written the plot twist is something to keep you up at night. The FL is on another level I love her so much. And the writer deserves an award. Seriously 😭 I really love this book. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I really enjoyed this story. You can clearly follow the main leads characters and see them develop and better themselves. The love story doesn't feel rushed and doesn't drift into the reality uncomfortable situations often created. Their relationship is a really strong one built on trust and respect and I love to read healthy relationships like this. The characters surrounding them are mostly strong as well. Of course everyone has their tastes so some characters and dynamics were a little annoying for me, BUT and that's a strong but, they still have their strong moments that excuse them being annoying (looking at you Qiao Chu) and even making me like them and care about them. All in all it was amazing to read. The storylines were planned out, there was by anything that appeared as filler and the story came to a very satisfying wrap at the end. And I really hope the author, translator and editor were paid enough to justify the apparently huge mass releases. The translation quality drops to truly confusing levels sometimes, but I guess that happens under mass release stress. (and it's only for maybe 5 chapters, so nothing terrible). I loved this story, thank you dearest author!
I will say, its my biggest mistake that I dropped this novel on my first scan. But im glad i picked it back up. The reason ehy i dropped it was because the guy wasnt the coldish type that im used to and i found his tendencies to be a bit playboyish (im not fond of that) but then i realized its only to her sooooo i tried it again. ONE THING IS FOR SURE THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST NOVEL I HAVE EVER READ. BUT ROMANCE WHY U SP SLPW BUT ITS WORTH IT UGH EVERY TIME HE HUGS HER UGH I JUST UGH HAHAHAH I wonder which chapter their romance actually begins tho...ill tey updating here hehe byee
