Chapter 2 A Mysterious woman.

Chapter 2 A Mysterious woman.

As Kaile left the kitchen, he headed up the stairs, the stairs are old and wooden, every time Kaile takes a step the stairs creak, sounding like a wooden plank that's about to be broken in half due to the stress of weight.

Reaching the top of the stairs, Kaile can feel the soft dark grey carpet smuggling peacefully in between his naked toes. In front of him is his mothers room the brown wooden door is closed, hanging from a string that's nailed into the centre of the door is an arrow sign pointing upwards, hinting at a hidden ambition the owner of the room might hold, the hallway extends outwards towards the left of the wooden stairs, paintings cover the caramel white walls of the hallway, in one of the paintings is a young boy no older than 8 years old, the boy is wearing a red t-shirt with a small almost unnoticeable hole at the bottom, he is wearing black shorts that fail to reach his knees, as most of the time in the place on the human continent where Kaile lives it's always hot, a perfect place for the rich and powerful to live.

Next to him is another small girl with long red hair that cascades down her back like a waterfall, the shine from her hair looks blinding as the rays of the sun shine down on it, her golden eyes are filled with incomparable amounts of joy and happiness as she hugs the other small young boy next to her with a bright smile on her face, her cheek is pressed up against the boys as he is showing a reluctant expression, hidden in his dark brown eyes the sign of hope for a better future, a future where he can fill in the void of sadness that permeates his heart. The girl is wearing a pure white t-shirt that exposes her small dainty pure delicate arms, the girl is also wearing small pink shorts that fail to reach her knees.

Standing behind the two children is a beautiful mature looking woman, the woman is a perfect replica of the small girl hugging the boy like her life depends on it, the only difference being that you can see small amounts of passage of time on her face, and the maturity in her eyes cannot be hidden, a small but happy smile is drawn on her face as she looks into the camera. She is wearing a black business suit suitable for a teacher. Her red hair is tied up in a bun at the top of her head with two loose stands framing her face and resting on her shoulders. She looks truly impeccable, her beauty cannot be hidden by the passage of time, making men want to approach her to ask for a date. The mature look in her eyes makes men with lesser wills intimidated, forcing them to abandon this idea entirely.

Behind the trio is a building entrance. This building's entrance is good looking, the dark grey stones that line the entrance to the building that has 4 floors in total look brand new, but any discerning eye can tell that this is just a recent renovation, a renovation that looks to make the building look good rather than improve the structure. It's clear that whoever orchestrated the renovation had different plans in mind other than actually improving the quality of living environment the building can hold. The windows, much like the grey stones are brand new however, the frame holding the windows in place are still old, the only difference being that they now have a new white coat of paint to cover up the decay of the aged wood, giving them a sparkle as the rays of the sunlight hit them, temporarily covering up the faults.

Written on the brand new light brown wooden board hanging from the over arch porch of the entrance is, Bright moon orphanage.

Looking at the picture Kaile couldn't help but lower his head, a small happy smile plastered on his face but, the complex emotion cannot be hidden from his eyes especially if Emma or Sophia would be able to look at them right now, to the outside world these emotion may be hidden, but from his closes ones that know him better than he knows himself, his eyes reveal the true complex emotions that he tries his best to hide.

Walking past the painting three light brown wooden doors can be seen, the bathroom is on the left side of the hallway closest to the stairs, giving quick access to it from every room upstairs, the wooden door furthest to from Emma's room but still on the same wall is Sophia's, you can tell it's Sophia's room because the picture of a black bat can be seen, this bat if seen by anyone would instantly remind you of the famous blood sucking monsters that hide in the dark.

You might be thinking. 'I thought Sophia would have a pink bear as a symbol on her door.'

Considering her favourite animal is a polar bear, and her favourite pajamas is a bear one piece as well as her favourite colour being pink, and not the typical dark colours that are associated with vampires. Everyone at school that knows of this information about her favourite animal and colour automatically thinks this way too, but. Just like them you would also be wrong. It isn't like Sophia hides the part of herself that enjoys vampire related material, or the fact that she wanted to actually become one at some point in her life growing up. It's just that she, as well as the rest of her family, only indulge in vampire related things at home.

What are the vampire related things?

Well, once a week at the end of the weekdays, the family get together to show each other the novels they have been reading or the new tv shows out.

This was a family tradition passed down on Emma's late husband's part of the family. For the first 6 years of Sophia's life, Emma and Sophia had never done this together as it would always remind Emma of the tragic death of her husband, however when Kaile joined the family, Emma noticed the hidden sadness in his eyes, although the sadness had greatly diminished throughout the three years Salia visited him in the orphanage. To Emma that has a keen eye at being able to see through other peoples false hoodies, she naturally could see clearly that Kaile although it was greatly reduced, it was still a large amount of sadness that seeped out from his eyes from her observations, the normal person like the caretakes of the orphanage for example, wouldn't be able to see this due to the depths it was now hidden and reduced thanks to Salia.

In order to bridge the gap and build a close relationship, Emma makes a heavy but easy choice to bring back the family tradition her husband introduced her to. Although at the start for the first couple of weeks it was hard, Emma often cried later at night after the children were put to sleep, but as time passed the pain began to dissipate, and the relationship between Kaile and them became a lot closer to one another.

Maybe in order to coupe with the scar on Emma's heart, or maybe so Kaile could have a way to escape reality and claim a glimmer of the blood ties seen between vampires, Kaile and Emma began to watch and read more and more stuff related to vampires, constantly sharing it with one another in the group on weekends.

As time passed, Sophia was indoctrinated into this group as well, at first she would show videos of polar bears, and other winter related stuff but, being young and impressionable, not to mention she didn't want to be left out by her brother and mother, she also began to slowly enjoy vampire stuff too.

So as time passed everyone became obsessed with this kind of genre, it was only Kaile that managed to break out from this curse, or more accurately he was never cursed to begin with, as he was always just looking for, although it was subconscious for family bonds.

This led him to other books that hold ancient creatures with rare bloodlines, that rely heavily on family in order to survive, creatures like dragons, or even humans with unique qualifications that bring them together as a race.

Upon entering his room that's on the far left side of the hallway, directly opposite to Sophia's room.

Kaile opened the same door as others, the room was dark so he couldn't see much at all, but he could feel the same soft carpet in between his toes, Kaile quickly made his way to his bed and put on a pair of socks to cover himself, upon finishing, Kaile grabbed a book of his night table place next to his bed.

Kaile left the room and looked up once he reached the middle of the hallway, there was a black polyester strap dangling down from a square white wooden hatch, upon pulling this strap a light brown wooden staircase unfolded in front of him, after the bottom of the stairs hit the carpeted floor, he without a second of hesitation headed up stairs.

Upon heading up stairs kaile could see a window straight in front of him, the attic was completely black, making it impossible for Kaile to see what was around, the only reason why he knew where to go was because of the repeated repetition of the same action ever since he found this place 12 years ago.

Ever since that night, Kaile has headed up the stairs and into the attic before going to sleep.

The double glazed safety window with a light brown wooden frame was rectangular in shape, the rectangle was vertical giving easy access to the rooftop upon opening outwards towards the roof in front.

Upon twisting the key at the bottom of the window that's used to lock the window, Kaile pushed forwards on the glass leaving fingerprints on the clear glass that was recently cleaned by Emma.

In the reflection of the window, a young man that just turned 20 could be seen. His short stylish black hair looked neat and tidy as today he just came home from school, his dark brown eyes with that hint of fading sadness could be seen reflected on the young man's face, just like Sophia, Kaile was also wearing a one piece pajama that has the style of bears, the only difference is the colour which is purple.

Upon stepping outside the window and onto the rooftop, a soft breeze blew past Kaile's cheeks making him sigh in relief and comfort. In the dark sky the multi coloured stars were out and the clouds were hidden, moonlight shone down from the whole moon that was positioned in the right side of the sky visible from the square enclosed shape of the rooftop. It truly gave off a fantastical feel, making one feel more connected with the stars and the moon when lying down on the rooftop.

Looking down from the picturesque like view of the night sky, right in front of Kaile was a foldable wooden beach bench with light red and white striped soft pillows for decoration, the beach bench looked like it was taken right out from a beach painting but, with the contrast with the night clear sky, and the silvery moonlight lighting up the sky with the multicoloured stars hanging from above, it strangely fit in place, making Kaile feel at ease every time he saw it, due to the size of the human continent, pollution from the cars made little effect at hiding the moon and the stars on a night, even though Kaile lives in a huge populated city

With a book in hand that's title says, Origin human essence. Kaile lay down and began to read.

The book was about a race of regular humans that lived exactly like modern day earth humans, much similar to how his race of humans live on this blue planet. However, something happened on the planet called Anjita in the book. Humans suddenly unlooked origin essence that was sealed away deep within their genes.

This origin essence allowed them to unlock various abilities overtime, with the first one unlocking at the age of 10, in total there were 8 different abilities that could be awakened using origin essence in the first stage, the first stage was called Origin understanding.

The first ability that could be unlocked was between three different origins, one origin was within the genes, if you awaken this origin it allows you to unlock invulnerability.

Invulnerability. The ability to live forever. The power of Invulnerability makes the human at the early stage of understanding of Invulnerability, able to withstand various forms or strengths, or physical damage and injury though usually there are still limits.

One of the other origin abilities are located in the muscles, while the last one of the three is located in the brain.

Awakening the origin essence within the muscles gives the 10 year old human superhumans strength.

Superhuman strength is exactly what it sounds like, at the early stage of understand it gives the once who has it the ability to punch a hole straight through a normal human that doesn't, and at the peak stage of understanding, you could crush a small adult palm sized rock into powder by just clenching your hand into a fist, just like foamed bath soap in your hand there will be no resistance.

Finally the third one that's located in the brain that can be awakened is called Psychometry.

Psychometry is the ability to obtain information about a person or an object by touch, and also giving the person not only eidetic memory but a 100x permanent boost in comprehension. At the early stage of Psychometry, the information you can attain is related to only a few hours of whatever interacted with that object or person. At the peak stage of understanding a person can glean information about a person or object dating back many years into the past, information like how many steps the person has taken in recent years, or how many times the person has entered a specific shop.

''That's an interesting book you're reading there! Do you mind if I take a quick look?''

Startled, Kaile dropped the book. The book created a clanging sound of wood hitting stone, as the book was quite thick, containing the whole story which Kaile had read many times. Kaile head swivelled to the right as his arms quickly shot his whole body up from the chair, upon seeing the figure Kaile's eyes dilated in pure shock and terror, the arms he used to fling himself up from the chair felt numb, and his legs began to shake as Kaile took several steps back, forgetting the fact that the roof has no safety rail, and he was getting awfully closer and closer to the edge, with every step back, Kaile felt his heart pounding in his chest, making him feel like he just ran a 26.2 mile marathon.

Clearly in front of Kaile is a woman, this woman is dressed in ancient cultivator type robes you would always read about in novels, the colour was pure white, the sleeves where long and baggy, easily able to fit a small box in their if you wanted to, the robes length went down only to just above her pristine unblemished light caramel thighs, her feet were free and without anything covering them, as she stood in the void just above the ground as if to say the ground is not worthy of her slender feet. Her black hair was straight without a single strand of hair falling out of place. It shone as the silvery moonlight fell down on it, her hair fell down her back to the bottom of her plumb bum like a wave covering her whole back. Her eyes were black in colour, seemingly ordinary, but if one tried to look into those eyes, they would feel like an ancient being as deep as the abyss itself was staring back at them. This is primarily what caused Kaile to stumble back as much as he did.
