Generic Naruto Fanfic No. 5

A short story is what I like. If I were to give it a title it would be a journey towards immortality but a more accurate title would be a worm wriggling

BORING

The only classes I found interesting were hand to hand combat practice, shuriken jutsu class and Shinobi tactics.

But they were wrought with their own problems.

On the other hand, it was nice to see I wasn't the only talentless sow, most of the kids who were children of civilian parents found themselves paling in comparison to those from shinobi clans.

It was refreshing to see a kid like Naruto wasn't as common as I thought but at the same time, it wasn't rare to see amazing talents.

Sasuke Uchiha, coming from a strong family line with a peerless kekkai genkai comparable to the Hyuga clan, he has amazing talents across the board from advanced knowledge to skills in taijutsu to proficiency in ninjutsu.

The Uchiha Kid's talent was blooming, faster than any of his peers, at a rate that will soon surpass those older than himself.

His chakra was strong almost as much as the teachers, at such a young age too. At the age where chakra begins to grow his starting point is already leaps ahead of mine.

I couldn't help but feel a little bitter.

"Hebi you're up," our sensei told me

I walk over to a line on the ground, grabbing the kunai in my hand, I throw it towards the log target.

Most of the kunai hit the outer ring of the target, Only a few missing hitting the log at its base.

I sigh at my snail pace progress

Most kids pick up Shuriken jutsu in the academy so we all have around the same starting line but still, why am I so far behind.

"Sasuke, your turn"

A child with black hair but a strong presence walks up to the throwing line, with a calm look on his face. Five kunai launch out from his hands all at once flying from different angles but converging at a single point.

Bullseye

All his Kunai knives hit a bullseye

We all picked up the technique a few months back when we entered the academy and had our first class.

But why is the skill gap so large.

Never mind that, in order to get ahead of the immense amounts of geniuses, one has to focus on their efforts on mastering a small set of powerful skills. Copying those more talented and trying to be skilled in all departments will only leave me in the dust.

My only solace is that heavens blessed child, I mean naruto, seems to be having a worse time than me. Hitting the target by luck a few times but most of them lodging themselves in the ground, a random tree and some of them near missing our sensei.

Messing around and being a clown seems to be his primary objective, which the sensei catches on quickly obtaining his ire.

Children who weren't from a clan were more varied in skill, with some just barely hitting the log, to getting consistent hits on the target, not as noticeable as Sasuke's flashy display but respectable results for their efforts.

However in hand to hand combat practice, I had a better time

Although most clan kids had better combat techniques, I could contend well with my observation skills and reaction speed. And with a well-formed physique combating those who experienced systemised learning within their clans was not a big problem.

"Naruto Uzumaki" The sensei calls to the ring

"You better believe it" Naruto answers cheerfully

"Is he the one?"

"My parents told me not to talk to him" the kids gossip shamelessly

"And Sasuke Uchiha, step forward you two," says the sensei in a respectable tone

The cheers for Sasuke rise he walks up, washing away the negative publicity from Naruto's outburst

Staring silently at each other, Naruto yells

"Let's go, I'm gonna win this for sure"

"Alright, it's Naruto Uzumaki versus Sasuke-" our teacher tries to say before he's cut off

"Come on, let just do this idiot" Naruto voices out

Anxiously trying to prove himself in front of his peers, Naruto's outburst becomes more and more frequent.

After a few more of his outbursts and our sensei bringing things back on track while still lecturing about respecting traditions. Both Naruto and Sasuke raise a hand to perform the spar hand sign.

"Begin"

In a blink of an eye, Sasuke's fist is inches away from naruto's face while he is mounted on top of him, while Naruto shocked at how fast he lost couldn't even begin to form words.

Silence

Sasuke slowly got off of Naruto who was still lost in thought before the verdict was announced. But we already know the results

"Sasuke wins" the teacher announced

"Now make the unison sign so we can move on" he continued

When you finish sparring extending two fingers and locking them with your opponent shows the unison sign symbolising acceptance as comrades in arms, a tradition in the leaf village that comes with every practice bout to represent solidarity. Or at least that's what the sensei said

"now perform the unison sign," the sensei says

As the two children draw close to perform the unison sign, the two grab at each others shirt and stare aggressively at each other.

"You wanna go another round loser?" Sasuke says demeaningly

Breaking the two up, the sensei trys to lecture them but naruto was already running away hopping over the fence of the schoolyard we were practising in.

Where was I?

I already won my spar against my opponent earlier and we left on good terms. So I found myself idling around watching the other fights while thinking up different methods to fight.
