Summoned

There were claps and cheers around us, the surrounding tables apparently having noticed. I should have been worried but at the moment the only thing that mattered was the woman in front of me.

I gave her a kiss before dropping a few hundred on the table and taking her hand. We practically ran out of the restaurant and to the valet station where I picked up my car.

Only we didn't even make that far, we ended up pulling over at a secluded parking garage and having sex in the car. I guess proper proposals made both of us horny. 

The drive back to the hotel was filled with loving glances and soft caresses on my end. Lena could immediately tell that something had happened when we got back to the room and took Selene out of the way to talk. The twins were peacefully sleeping on the bed.

I watched the two for a bit before pulling open my system and looking at the quest I had finally completed after getting it shortly after I had met my now fiancé.

The reward was completely useless since I was already in a relationship with her. I didn't remember there being a bonus reward but I wasn't going to start complaining now.

Especially not when my history with perk rewards has been extremely fortuitous. I didn't check the perk reward yet because something else caught my attention.

A new notification popped up in the HUD and I clicked on it to expand the message. Unsurprisingly it was a quest, what was mildly concerning was the lack of information given to me by the description.

Selene and Lena came back to the room just as I finished reading. They gave me a look that screamed 'you're up to something aren't you?'. 

"A quest just popped up." I said simply. 

"Are you going to take it?" Selene asked. 

"I didn't get an option to deny it, I assume that it's some sort of forced quest." 

"Where is it?" 

"Don't know, another realm apparently. Someone used my name to summon me." 

"True name?" 

"Unlikely, but the lack of information the quest gives me is interesting. Makes me want to go check just for the hell of it."

"Alright… but don't take too lo-" 

"You two are coming with me."

"What? But what about the girls?" Selene asked.

"We cannot leave your daughters alone." Lena added. 

"We aren't," I summoned Alruna who appeared before bowing. "Alruna here is going to watch over them while we deal with whatever this is." 

"I will protect them with my life My Lord." Alruna acknowledged. 

Selene sighed, "I guess we have been itching for an adventure." 

"I too am curious as to who would summon you." 

I nodded at both of them before turning to Alruna who took a position by the sleeping twins. Alruna smirked before giving me an affirmative gesture. 

"Do not worry, no harm shall befall your children." 

With that Selene and Lena grabbed onto my shoulders as I closed my eyes. Focusing on the tendril of power that was reaching out to me I grabbed hold and followed it through the void.

When I opened my eyes I found myself standing in the middle of an empty street in front of a house. The sky above was a swirling cloud of darkness. Selene and Lena looked around immediately alert. 

"I can smell blood in the air." Lena whispered. 

I frowned, I could smell it too. The air was heavy with an oppressive force that felt evil. A woman screamed in the distance drawing all of our attention.

What looked like portable generators were scattered around the street and various yards. I spotted what looked like a lamp post that had a meat hook hanging off of it. Strange spider-like limbs surrounded the base of the post.

I could hear a faint heartbeat several houses down the road. I turned to both Selene and Lena before speaking. 

"I'll go check the houses, you two go see what that screaming was about. If you run into anyone hostile… kill it. Selene, as you should have noticed by now, your new ring grants you some pretty broken powers. Use that to obliterate any enemies you can't seem to kill the normal way." 

The two women nodded and shared a smile. Selene drew her pistols while Lena unsheathed her sword. They disappeared in a burst of vampire speed towards the direction of the scream.

Meanwhile I swapped out my clothing for something more durable. Dark Sister around my hip, and P226 and Sand Viper holstered at my sides. I made my way over to the house.

I could hear the heartbeat in and flashed inside in a burst of light. There was another generator in the living room of the house along with several red storage lockers. The frantically beating heart was in one of the lockers. 

'Strange… they're hiding from something.'
