Result In Death

"What's wrong?" Ivy was curious, but she could see the urgency on Alex's face.

"Is there any way to the roof." Alex knew there was no way he could get past a hoard of at least a hundred hungry zombies. If they could get on the roof, then they can jump to the neighboring building.

"Yes, I'll lead you there." Ivy pulled Alex's shirt as she walked towards the stairs to the roof. It was the same stairway going to the second floor from the first.

BANG!! The entire front door collapsed under the weight of multiple zombies bombarding it. As Alex peered down between the edge of the stairs, he could see tens of zombies scampering up the stairs with bloodlust in their eyes.

"The door's locked!" Ivy didn't know what to do.

"I'll have to ram through." But Alex knew he couldn't ram through with his current strength. 'Apply all potential points to strength'

[Potential Points Used

STRENGTH: 5 -> 7]

Alex could distinctly feel his muscles tense up as it expanded rapidly to his increased strength. He felt like he could lift a bicycle with only one hand. With his newfound power, Alex bashed into the door with all his might, creating a large dent.

All the zombies on the second floor heard the noise and rushed towards them. Alex could hear their roars get louder as they neared.

After another smash, the steel door broke off the hinges, falling flat on the roof. "RUN! JUMP TO THE OTHER BUILDING!" Alex yelled at Ivy to go. Time was ticking, and the zombies weren't willing to wait.

When Alex approached the edge, he saw Ivy standing blank-faced. She looked at Alex with a worried look. "I can't jump that far." While the building next to them was only slightly shorter, the gap between was at least two adults long.

Alex tried to think of a way to get her across, but the zombies were already at the roof, only a few seconds away. Alex didn't want to see Ivy losing her head to savages.

"Sorry." Alex lifted her with his strength at 7 and threw her to the other side. She landed on her legs, unharmed except for a bit of wobbling in her legs.

"ALEX!" Ivy didn't want to lose the only person who cared about her. If Alex died, she would be alone again.

Alex couldn't jump the gap without momentum, so he turned around to face the beasts. Lucky for him, only one zombie was far ahead of the others. This meant that as long as Alex can run past it, he could turn around with enough built up speed and jump the chasm.

He turned around, swallowed his shit, and charged the zombie. As the zombie reached face to face with Alex, he ducked under its arms, and using the zombie's body, he swiveled past the zombie to make a break for it.

Even before he gained 2 strength, he could jump the distance, so with more power in his leg muscles, Alex can jump even farther, but he miscalculated something. When Alex almost touched the finish line, he felt a zombie's arm grab onto his leg, causing him to land with his bottom half dangling off the building.

Since the zombie was holding onto both his legs, Alex didn't have enough force to kick it off. Ivy saved the day. With a random brick that she found on the ground, she clucked it at the zombie's face, stunning it just long enough for it to lose its grip, falling to its death head first.

He pulled himself up with the help of Ivy. As he laid down against the stone roof, he was still breathing heavily without stop. Ivy sat down next to him, offering him a snack from her backpack.

Alex finally reached safety, breathing a sigh of relief, he watched the zombies continue to jump, only to fall to their death or completely break their limbs. After the first group of zombies died, the second group survived with only injuries by falling on other zombies.

Alex was thrilled to find out that this counted as killing the zombies since he barely did anything, but he's the reason why they're dying, so why would he complain.

After his close encounter with the zombie, Alex realized that he needed to become even stronger if he wanted to protect himself and Ivy. 'Apply all Potential Points to Strength'

Alex felt a shiver down his back when he remembered watching videos of bodybuilders' muscles bursting from not having a strong enough body to contain them.

"Alex I feel weird. My muscles feel like they're moving on their own." Sitting next to him, Ivy asked with distress visible on her face.

"Give me your hand, let me check." Alex held onto her hand and pretended to check it. 'Inspect'

'Her Strength and Level increased?' Alex speculated that Ivy was able to level up when she killed zombies just like him except that she's not able to choose which stat to increase unlike him.

"You became stronger because you killed a zombie." Alex patted her head, reassuring her. As he admired her struggle against his hand, Alex realized that he was no longer alone.

Even though they were out of the zombies' range, Alex searched the roof for any possible dangers. He found a lock and key on the other side of the roof door which he used to lock up the only passageway for zombies from the outside.

After such an eventful day, Ivy fell asleep in his arms. He gently laid her head-first on her backpack. Alex felt like he had been playing for over 10 hours, and needed sleep. Even though he would leave Ivy's side, he promised he would return to protect her.

'I want to log out.' Alex didn't know what to do, so he just thought in his head. Alex knew that a game company would go under fire if the player were unable to log-out, so he thought he would be able to log-out relatively easily.
