Hello, everyone. Today's Harry Potter chapter is relatively short. I just noticed that roughly half of it actually belongs to the previous chapter. Usually, I catch these issues during proofreading, or my proofreaders bring them to my attention. However, sometimes they slip through, especially when I re-edit them later on. Lastly, when I upload them to Patreon, Patrons notify me, but even when they don't, I only realize it on the release date. At this point, I cannot fix it by adding more words from the following chapter, as that would require editing 25 chapters on Patreon. Instead, I will be posting an extra chapter for Harry Potter today, and I'd like them to be read together. I will also release an additional chapter for this novel. The next day, Horyu entered the academy with a composed demeanor, his mind sharp and ready for the written test. He took his seat next to Hinata, noticing the fatigue etched under her eyes. It was clear she had been up late studying.
"You look exhausted, Hinata," Horyu commented, his voice laced with a hint of concern.
Hinata managed a tired smile. "I couldn't sleep much. Kept going over everything we've learned."
Horyu nodded, understanding her anxiety. "You'll do fine. Just stay focused and answer as best you can."
As they chatted, Iruka entered the classroom, his arms laden with stacks of test papers. The chatter in the room died down, replaced by a tense silence. Horyu watched as Iruka distributed the papers, his expression betraying nothing of his internal readiness.
Iruka placed a test paper on Horyu's desk, his eyes briefly meeting the young Uchiha's. "Good luck," he said before moving on.
Horyu glanced at the first question, his mind processing the information swiftly:
'Explain the theory behind chakra control and its importance in Jutsu execution.'
A smirk played at the corner of Horyu's lips. 'Child's play,' he thought. His fingers flew across the paper, outlining the intricate details of chakra control, its impact on Jutsu efficiency, and the nuances that often went unnoticed by the average shinobi.
The next question asked for the strategic applications of the Replacement Jutsu in battle scenarios. Horyu's response was thorough, drawing from both his knowledge of the Naruto world and his personal insights.
As he progressed through the test, Horyu's confidence grew. The questions ranged from practical combat scenarios to complex theoretical discussions on Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. Each answer was precise, reflecting his deep understanding and unique perspective.
Halfway through the test, Horyu glanced at Hinata. She was biting her lip, her brows furrowed in concentration. "Don't overthink it, Hinata," he whispered, offering a supportive nod.
Hinata looked up, meeting his gaze. She nodded, a faint smile forming as she turned her attention back to her test.
The final question on the test asked for an analysis of the Will of Fire, its significance in Konoha's history, and its relevance in the current ninja world.
He knew this was important. The "Will of Fire" concept was not just a philosophical cornerstone of Konoha; it was a tool of manipulation and loyalty. His answer needed to be nuanced, showcasing his loyalty to the Uchiha, the village, and his friends. Setting his pen down, Horyu leaned back, collecting his thoughts.
Hinata glanced at him, noticing his pause. "Is everything okay, Horyu?"
Horyu nodded, his mind already weaving the words. "Just considering my answer to this last question. It's more about politics than it is about ninja skills."
She watched him curiously. "How so?"
He picked up his pen again, starting to write as he spoke. "The 'Will of Fire' speaks to a sense of unity and perseverance inherent to Konoha. It's about putting the village and its people above oneself. But it's also been used to justify decisions that may not always be in everyone's best interest."
Hinata listened intently, her pen paused over her own paper.
"In my view," Horyu continued, his words flowing onto the page, "the 'Will of Fire' is a double-edged sword. It's a noble concept, fostering a sense of belonging and sacrifice. But it can also be a tool for those in power to maintain control, by binding the loyalty of its shinobi to the village's ideology."
He paused, glancing at Hinata, who was nodding slowly. "So, while I believe in the 'Will of Fire' as a guiding principle, I also believe in questioning and understanding the motives behind those who wield it. Loyalty should be to the ideals of justice and protection, not blind allegiance to those in power."
Hinata blinked, a new understanding dawning in her eyes. "That's a deep perspective, Horyu."
He gave a small, wry smile. "Don't write that down, Hinata. Write something they want to read."
He too needed to write something Shisui would like to read. Lest he starts to suspect Horyu.
Horyu pondered over his response, considering the political nuances and the delicate balance he needed to maintain in his answer. "The Will of Fire," he began writing, "is more than just a concept; it's the heartbeat of Konoha. It's a symbol of unity and strength that binds us, regardless of clan or status."
He paused, choosing his words carefully. "This unifying spirit champions the collective over the individual, ensuring that the welfare of Konoha and its people remains our foremost priority."
Hinata, still focused on her own test, couldn't help but take a look at Horyu's answer. "That sounds very loyal to Konoha," she whispered.
Horyu glanced at her and nodded slightly. "But it's not without its complexities," he added quietly before continuing his writing.
"However, this collective spirit should not eclipse the unique strengths and contributions of individual clans, especially those as integral as the Uchiha. The Uchiha's dedication and sacrifices have been pivotal in shaping Konoha's legacy. Their unique abilities and unwavering loyalty are cornerstones of our village's strength."
Hinata nodded in understanding, her eyes reflecting her admiration for Horyu's diplomatic skills.
Horyu's pen continued to move across the paper. "In essence, the Will of Fire encapsulates the duality of serving the greater good while honoring and leveraging the unique talents of all shinobi. It's about finding a balance between unity and diversity, collective welfare and individual strengths."
Initially, Horyu didn't want to confuse Hinata with his complex perspective on the 'Will of Fire', but he recognized her intelligence and keen understanding. Hinata, despite her shyness, was far from naïve. She was the heiress of the noble Hyuga clan, talented and smart. Horyu considered these traits carefully, knowing they could be crucial for his World Quest depending on his choice.
As they finished their tests and walked out of the classroom, Horyu contemplated his options. He had yet to decide whether to side with Shisui for Uchiha Supremacy, Naruto for World Peace, Madara for World Domination, or to carve his own path. Each choice carried its own weight and consequences. And in the scenario where he chose to forge his own way, he would need allies like Hinata.
That begged the question, if Horyu entertained such ideals, why then was he so heavy-handed with Choji, Shikamaru, and Kiba, heirs of their respective clans? Or why did he consistently ignore Ino, the heiress of the Yamanaka clan? The answer was simple for Horyu: he hated hypocrisy. He had no intention of acting out of character to ingratiate himself with others, regardless of their status or lineage.
Walking back to his house after the exam, Horyu mulled over these thoughts. "It's not about liking or disliking them," he mused in his mind. "It's about not playing a part in a farce. Allies should be earned through respect, not flattery or sycophancy."
Once home, Horyu's focus shifted to the practical exam looming on the horizon. He knew he had to make the most of the remaining time. "Tomorrow, everything unfolds," he said to himself, stepping into his training area. "I need to be at my best."
Under the moonlit sky, Horyu began his rigorous training regimen. He would practice all three together Clone Jutsu, forming two shadow clones to practice simultaneously. Each clone worked on a different jutsu - one on the Clone Jutsu, another on the Substitution Jutsu, while he focused on Transformation Jutsu.
Under the cool evening sky, Horyu's training ground was alive with motion and chakra. He stood at the center, his focus unwavering as his shadow clones flanked him, each diligently practicing their assigned jutsu.
"Keep the formation tight," Horyu instructed one clone, perfecting the Clone Jutsu. The clone nodded, mirroring his movements with precision.
Turning to the other clone, he observed its execution of the Substitution Jutsu. "Faster," he urged. "The key is reaction time." The clone responded, vanishing and reappearing with a swiftness that satisfied Horyu.
For himself, he focused on the Transformation Jutsu. He transformed into various figures from the academy, each transformation more detailed than the last. "Not quite there yet," he muttered, pushing himself to capture even the most minute details.
As the night progressed, Horyu's concentration never wavered. He transitioned seamlessly between guiding his clones and refining his own techniques. His determination was palpable, a testament to his drive and ambition.
The hours ticked by, marked by the gradual shift of the moon across the sky. Horyu's clones dissipated, transferring their experience back to him. He felt a rush of knowledge and fatigue, but his resolve remained unshaken.
"Good progress," he said, allowing himself a brief moment of satisfaction. He checked the System Interface, noting the updates.
