1 Chapter 1

- I sit behind bars in a damp dungeon. A young eagle, nurtured in captivity..." I whispered lines of a poem from the past world, sitting on the couch in the cramped cell for an hour.

- You're so screwed up, kid," said the guard with a chuckle.

- Tell me about it.

- An hour ago, an alleyway in the town of Xyrus.

In an alleyway in the hovering city, a boy rose slowly, groaning. His hair had turned gray because of the dirt, and his body was thin.

"What a headache..."

I looked around and noticed that I was in a rather unpresentable alley. I began to ponder my location with bewilderment.

"Did I drink too much last night and find myself in this typical drunken situation?"

But the thought occurred to me that I don't drink at all, and this situation certainly couldn't have happened to me.

- So what is it? - I expressed my thoughts aloud, immediately covering my mouth with my hand in surprise. - Why do I sound like a child?

I began to feel my body more and more in a panic, because the body also did not belong to me. After thinking feverishly, only one thing came to mind:

"Did I reincarnate like those characters in the anime!? Even so, where did I end up!"

Slowly standing up, I walked out of the alley, finding myself in the marketplace. As I looked around, I noticed that it didn't look like a normal market at all.

There were people walking around with cold weapons, and it didn't bother the people around them in any way. Even the shops were strange... The first thing that occurred to me was that I was in the Middle Ages.

"...Shit-shit, what medieval times... Wait a minute, though..." - With my eyes wide open, I watched the scene as a man tried to steal some kind of booze in a test tube. But that wasn't the most surprising thing.

The vendor, noticing the theft, quickly jumped up from his seat and raised his wand and sent a fireball at the hapless thief.

My expression became even more puzzled when he saw it. I fell to my knees, struggling to contain my hysteria over the absurdity of what was happening.

"What am I going to do... I'm going to die at the first poke..."

But suddenly the expression on my face slowly became normal, even enthusiastic. All because of the voice in my head, which was my salvation.

[The System welcomes you. Would you like to make a contract?]

"The system... the real system..."

Of course I've heard of such a mystical thing as "The System." An ability that is guaranteed to make its user strong, if not the strongest in the world.

My joy was boundless; I was jumping and laughing with euphoria. And because of the overflowing emotions I even kissed some girl, after which I lost consciousness.

Waking up I rubbed the aching back of my head, looking around the damp and poorly lit room where I was.

- The bars? Was I in prison?

I quickly rose to my feet, fell back down, and then carefully stood up, approaching the bars. When I looked through it, I saw a man in uniform and with a gun.

- Excuse me, where am I? - I asked embarrassedly, in response I heard laughter.

- Did I say something funny...?

- ..Ha ha, sorry boy, it's just that your situation is so extraordinary that I couldn't help myself," he sighed briefly to calm down, and continued. - You're in the dungeon now, but don't worry, you'll probably be able to get out soon.

I sighed with relief. But there was one question that bothered me:

- What was I in jail for?

- Oh, that's the reason I'm laughing," he said, restraining himself from another fit of laughter. - You kissed the princess herself!

My eyes widened in shock, while the guard began to laugh harder than ever.

- And you say that I will be released! I shall be executed for sure! - I cried excitedly, rushing back and forth between the cells.

- Don't worry, Queen Priscilla is a kind enough woman. So I think she'll just be amused by the situation. Just be patient for a while.

I sat up abruptly on the couch, taking a deep breath.

"Amused means... I hope I get out of here. Kissing the princess herself, how could that even happen!"

Unhappy over my failure, I remembered about the system and my gaze locked onto the envelope icon at the top.

"Hmm... what is this... a letter? I thought it said you just had to give a mental command to open it."

Suddenly a blue dialog box appeared in front of me.

[The system welcomes you!]

There was no pain during the whole process, just some unusual feeling. My eyes burned with curiosity, so it didn't take long before I said "Status.

A translucent blue window appeared in front of me, with many symbols.
