9 Chapter 9 - The Whirlpool

Kyle landed inside the cave and was stupefied, even though it seemed pitch black from outside, inside was just as bright as during the day. The crystals were emitting a special kind of glow, purple in colour. It was just like the fluorescent lamps from his life on earth.

Even though it was beautiful, Kyle had no time to enjoy the scenery and changed his position into the horse stance* with the wolf fang dagger in his hand, while also adjusting his breathing as to concentrate on this fight fully. He knew that it would be an event that either kills him or soars him to the next level in the food chain.

The whirlpool as if it knew of what is about to happen was exerting its energy pull more and more as not to miss any new energy that was about to come in.

Then, the roar of some beast echoed in the earns of Kyle, and the first wolf passed into the light of the crystals in the cave.

Just before the wolf could rush at him, suddenly Kyle saw a string right in front of his eyes, it was white with dazzling light. He didn't know what it did, but he slightly pulled at it. As it got pulled, it broke into bits of purple light, and something extraordinary happened.

Everything slowed down. It seemed that the time itself also slowed down, even the whirlpools pull power energy slowed down.

Kyle has wasted some of this precious opportunity while understanding what exactly was going on. However, now, clenching his dagger even stronger he rushed to kill anything in his sight while this time distortion still lasted.

He first rushed to the wolf that was mid-leap with its mouth wide open. This wolf as a closest one got sliced belly as well as a stab into the head. This would guarantee that it would die. The energy from the wolf started flowing into the bottomless pit of the whirlpool. Once Kyle rushed out of the cave, he couldn't believe what he saw, there were thousands of animals all around the cave rushing in. The furthest away was the Lion that blocked Kyles path to the cave.

Kyle, without further thoughts anymore rushed in and started killing any closest beast. With every kill, the whirlpool was rotation faster and faster even during the time distortion. When Kyle killed a 1/10 of all of the animals, the whirlpool was rotating already at the speed that it was before the distortion. 1/4 of beasts dead, and it expanded and instead of grey and red energy, it now had white and orange energy. At 1/2 of the animals, it became snow-white and crimson.

Kyle's eyes were crimson with blood as well, there was no blood gushing out of the animals as the time dilation didn't allow for it just yet, but the extreme killing spree caused him to nearly go mad and bathe in the murderous aura that he was building up. Kyle has lost a sense of himself. 'While I can, I need to KILL! KILL! KILL!'

If anyone would have seen this scene, they would be petrified and would probably be traumatised for their entire life.

As soon as Kyle killed half of the animals, the time started very slowly to speed up. Now sometimes an angry claw would be thrown at him that he had to dodge, this of course slowed down the killing process.

Something very strange happened when he killed the 3/4 of the animals the whirlpool started shaking, and now it started to decrease in size becoming denser. Everything now was close to being normal, but Kyle, with the absorption of power, has gotten a lot stronger and faster, so it was much easier to continue with the slaughter. The problem was the Lion. There was no way even after such a huge power-up that Kyle would be to face it head-on.

Even though to describe all of it was long, in reality, not even 5 minutes have passed. Kyle has gone out of the cave, massacred nearly a thousand beasts and went back inside in less than 5 minutes. This was an earthshaking event in the forest that would forever change the ecosystem.

When at least a 9/10 of the beasts were killed, Kyle started retreating back into his cave. This whole process has benefited him greatly, and he could feel that just a little bit more of power would cause the whirlpool to stop the destructive process to his body. He frantically killed his way back to the cave as to face the Lion in a more closed area. 'I am much smaller than the Lion, so I will have an advantage when he can't just pounce right at me.'

Finally, the Lion with a huge roar and rushed inside. This caused his massive body to destroy crystals at the entrance. He stopped and looked at Kyle. Kyle was ready and standing in the horse stance. He roared and passed back and forth as if contemplating what way would it eat this Human.

Without a doubt, all of the animals dropping to their death after the time dilation stopped, surprised Lion. But he was the king of all animals. He wouldn't bother with some insignificant other beasts. He also understood that this human is not to be taken lightly and so it had to approach this fight smartly.

'Tsk, I hoped that it would just rush me and I would be able to slice its belly with a slide. I guess it is the king of the animals. I should give it more credit. It is much more intelligent than others.' Kyle had just to sit there and wait. Going for a frontal attack would be akin to suicide.

The claws of the Lion were reflecting the purple light and were sparkling as if sharp sword pieces were placed instead of the claws. The fangs that the Lion showed were also resembling a tough piece of steel. Even a single claw was the size of Kyle's head. This beast was the final boss that Kyle had to face to grow and become the hunter instead of the prey.

The Lion has finally made his move, and it pounced from one wall to another, from one side of the cave to another nearly 10 times before finally making a huge rush for Kyle.

It was fast. While the Lion was pouncing from side to side, Kyle was still. He was ready to counter-attack or to dodge. When he saw the Lion rushing at him and wanting to attack with the claws, he knew that he had to dodge and then counter-attack or he would lose this fight.

Kyle waited until the last possible moment and dodged the huge claw to the side. The claw just barely managed to clip his left arm and make a huge scar that stated to gaze with blood. At this point, as Kyle dodged to the side, he understood 'This is my opening!'

The Lions side was fully exposed, and it would at least slow the beast down if it were wounded. As Kyle, with the heroic cry stabbed at the side, he suddenly felt like he was flying.

Kyle didn't expect this, but Lion used its head to launch a bash at him as soon as the claws managed to scratch him. It saw the or rather. It gave an opening to Kyle. Endless fight of this Lion must have taught him ways to protect himself. ' What a canny and smart beast.' Kyle couldn't believe it.

Kyle, still in midair could understand that he has lost his chance, and this was most likely the end of him.

'I have gone through so much just to die under some stupid beast? I was so close to finally managing this whirlpool! Why did such a strong beast have to show up!' Kyle granted his teeth ready to hit the wall with his back.

The horse stance* - (sometimes called horse riding stance) is a common posture in Asian martial arts and takes its name from the position assumed when riding a horse. It is called in Chinese, kiba-dachi in Japanese, and juchum seogi or annun seogi (lit. sitting stance) in Korean. This stance can not only be integrated into fighting but also during exercises and forms. It is most commonly used for practicing punches or to strengthen the legs and back.
