Fatal 4-Way

The last fight of the night introduced a new "gameplay" into the colosseum. After calming down the audience the announcer of the colosseum explained the rules to the audience.

"I am honored to introduce everyone to the rules of the final fight. We will use a classic fatal 4-way match to end this legendary evening. At the end of the fight only one person will leave this arena alive. But we decided to spice things up a little. A fire will start from the walls of the arena and slowly burn towards the middle of the colosseum. The fire will be controlled by the alchemists of Lys, nobody must worry about their personal safety. The fire will take roughly 10 minutes until every place in the colosseum is covered and will be extinguished within seconds once only the last person remains. I hope every participant will remember my words. If you take too long to finish the battle a very painful death will await you, as the flames of Lys will burn extra bright."

A few seconds after the speech green flames were slowly staring to burn on all the walls of the arena. The alchemist of Lys developed a special liquid that slowly spread across the surface of sand. If they drop a special extinguisher from the side of the wall the fire will die out within seconds. The substance is quite precious and rare and can unfortunately not be used on a large scale and in wars. This is the only reason why Victor was willing to use this flame on this special occasion.

The four gladiators instantly knew the fight started when the green flame appeared. Rex immediately wielded his spear attacking the Dothraki warrior. He deemed the strong warrior his biggest enemy. Their fight heated up quick. The Braavozi youth slowly stepped forward trying to find a perfect position for a sneak attack. Meanwhile the Unsullied was completely unfaced. He simply stood in the middle of the arena. When the Dothraki warrior was pushed back the desperate spear attack he was suddenly pierced by a sword from the side. Eyes still full of shock the Dothraki turned his head seeing the Braavosi with a smirk on his face. Before he could pull back the sword his smile stopped very fast though. The Dothraki threw away his weapon and grabbed him hard. He couldn't distance himself and was getting hugged by the Dothraki with both hands while his sword was still inside the stomach of the Dothraki gladiator. Rex instantly took advantage piercing his spear straight through the back of the Dothrakis heart and trying to pierce the Braavosi swordsman as well. Before he could succeed with his double kill, he felt extreme danger in the very last second and dodged to the side while loosening his hand on the spear. The spear still hit the Braavosi but only pierced straight into the left shoulder. The strike of the Unsullied missed Rex but hit the Dothraki straight in the head, cutting across his face. The Dothraki warrior was out of the game, obviously.

The Braavosi youth managed to free himself from the spear, shedding a lot of blood and suffering immense pain in the process. He was quick minded enough to throw the spear straight back to the black gladiator Rex with his healthy arm, as he needed time to gather himself. Rex was extremely angry at the Unsullied for his sneak attack and after catching the spear went straight ahead. Roughly seven minutes were gone by now.

The Braavosi was suffering extreme pain, as pulling out the spear left a bloody hole on his shoulder. His left arm was shaking from pain, and it was extremely hard to concentrate. He knew that in his current situation he would not be an opponent of either the Unsullied or Rex. He couldn't stay away from the fight much longer though, as the fire was constantly spreading towards the center of the arena. The temperature was steadily increasing and beats of sweat were forming on his forehead.

The fight of Rex and the Unsullied was heating up and both suffered injuries from each other's spear. Their stamina was nearing his end as both already finished two battles this evening. The incoming fire increased their stress levels and panic was slowly spreading in Rex' eyes. He feared the green fire slowly spreading towards him. When the Unsullied increased his attack speed Rex stumbled. To dodge the attack, he needed to roll towards the right side, straight towards the red flame. After stabilizing his position, he was only two meters away from the fire. He could feel the burning sensation getting closer. The murderous intention reached his limit at that moment, as the fear of burning alive activated his last potential. The Unsullied was finally showing emotions of shock and worry. He underestimated his enemy.

Meanwhile the Braavosi swordsman had to move closer to their fight as the circle in the middle of the arena was getting smaller and smaller. There roughly 90 seconds left before the fire would turn them all to ashes.

Rex started his last desperate attack using all the force and skills he could bring to the table. The Unsullied was clearly getting overwhelmed as they fought their way towards the middle of the arena and within striking distance of the Braavosi youth. Compared to the Dothraki the Unsullied did not forget about the danger behind him, but his body simply couldn't keep up anymore. He was close to complete exhaustion. All three fighters reached their limits at this moment and only one final strike was left to decide the victory.

When the flames left only a small cycle with a radius of three meters for the three gladiators the Braavosi swordsman went for what might be the last attack of his life. The moment Rex went for a strike towards the Unsullied he went for a faint attack on Rex. When the black gladiator tried to dodge the deadly sword, he was pierced by a spear attack of the Unsullied. The Braavosi went behind Rex' back and threw the sword with all his strength toward the Unsullied who never expected the last attack of a swordsman to be a sword throw. Rex hit the Braavosi with his elbow right on the left shoulder surprising him. The pain overwhelmed him, and he stumbled. The flames were closing in on the three gladiators, as all three lost their footing at the same time.

The crowd was being quite for most of the fight, as the tension was incredibly high in the colosseum. Most people were exhausted by the evening and the heat of the green flame made the environment difficult. But as the fight was drawing an end the excitement overwhelmed the exhaustion and cheers were being heard across the colosseum again. Right when the fight seemed to draw his end the alchemists drew down the extinguisher and the flame died down leaving behind a mass of white gas, not harmful to humans. Nobody could see the inside of fog and it took another twenty seconds before people could see the face of the last person standing clearly.

The Braavosi swordsman struggled back up while smelling a little burnt hair. He was this close to dying in the fire. But he was lucky compared to Rex and the Unsullied. Rex didn't survive the last spear attack that pierced his lungs. His body was completely overwhelmed.

The Unsullied seemed to lack the final bit of luck as the sword throw of the Braavosi pierced him straight through the neck. A deadly blow. Nobody would believe that after suffering such an injury and being nearly out of energy a swordsman would still have such a precise throwing action. Well, sometimes a hero needs a little luck as well.

This is the story of the first Braavosi gladiator that won the title "Hero of the Arena". Quite ironic, as Braavos does not keep slaves and despises everybody that does so.

Well, this was the last time the colosseum was used for a very long future. Will focus back on developing the story forward.
