1 Clan Crimson

The Clan crimson was one of the most prestigious and well known clans of the old Valyria. They were Dragon Lords with command over a hundred dragons. Every other clan respected the power and honour of clan crimson. That is until one lord of clan crimson fell in love with the sister wife of the lord of clan Targeryan.

Lord crimson overcome with the beauty and lust for Lady Targeryan broke the honour of his clan and kidnapped her.

The Targeryans although were not as strong as the crimsons but were respected for their knowledge. It was their knowledge that helped the other clans take command over the magical beasts that were the dragons. So the other clans joined clan Targeryan and stood against the clan crimson.

The crimsons were proud people they did not relent and faced the alliance head on with the might of their dragons. After five years of war in which more than 100 dragons and thousands of people were slain or killed a truce was called. The clan crimson did not give up the new Lady of their clan no matter whether she was a crimson or not and so were banished from Valyria alongside their slaves and dragons. Clan crimson relented because there was no point in continuing the war when they already had protected their pride despite losing men and 2/3 of their dragons.

After being banished from Old Valyria, clan crimson found their new home in the basilisk isles which is a large island chain off the northern coast of the continent of Sothoryos, namely the isle of tears, ax isle and isle of toads. The archipelago is located directly south from Slaver's Bay in Essos. They were infamous as the worst pirate dens in the known world, even worse than the Stepstones between Westeros and the Free Cities. These isles were infested by pirates who looted anything and everything worth looting. But with the might of their dragons destroying the ships and taking over the isles was child's play for the now banished crimson clan.

After overtaking and finding a new home in the basilisk isles the clan did not wipe out the pirates completely but kept them as their guards and navy that would be loyal to them and be the first step in making a new home for the clan. Like so the isles developed from the notorious pirates bay to a flourishing trade hub that would provide the clan with coin, news and and resources all the way from dead north of westeros to the unruly Vaes Dothrak of the Dothraki.

After half century of the banishing of the Crimson clan the Targeryans under the leadership of their Lord Aenar Targeryan alongside their dragons and slaves left Valyria and settled on the island named Dragonstone in the narrow sea. Aenar reasoned that his daughter had a dream in which she saw fire raining on valyria but rumors spread that he had a falling out with the other Dragonlords of Valyria.

A little more than a decade later Doom struck Valyria. On the night of the Doom, it is said that every one of the Fourteen Fires erupted in rapid sequence. Hundreds of smaller peaks, mountains and hills also erupted, along with channels of lava bursting through the ground. Earthquakes of staggering power shook the entire peninsula. The land itself cracked and started dropping into the sea. Even those cities spared immediate destruction - such as Valyria itself - were consumed by ash and soot lifted into the air by winds (hence the common description of the Doom "descending" on Valyria itself).

The mainland cities of Valyria, Tyria and Oros were destroyed in the Doom, along with hundreds of smaller settlements. The Doom triggered immense tsunamis which swept across the Gulf of Grief, Slaver's Bay and the Summer Sea. The Isle of Cedars was inundated, with the cities of Ghozai and Velos destroyed in the tidal waves. The devastation even reached to far Sothoryos, flooding the north coast of that continent. Fortuitously, the weather and the pattern of destruction meant that Volantis to the north-west was spared similar destruction.

The dragons of Valyria laired on the slopes of the Fourteen Fires. When the Doom took place, they were almost all killed. The only survivors were Balerion, Vhagar and Meraxes, the dragons belonging to House Targaryen, living in self-imposed exile on the island of Dragonstone far to the west and the 15 or 20 remaininig dragons of House Crimson, rulers of Sothoryos. The floods caused by the doom reminded the crimsons that they had now lost their home and that they were lucky to be the one of the only two surviving clans of Old valyria alongside their old enemies the Targeryans.

A century later Aegon Targeryan started his conquest of westeros and united the six kingdoms with the help of his and his sisters dragons(Dorne was later included by a political marriage) and named himself king of the seven kingdoms alongside his sister wives Rhaenys and Visenya. Within the Starry Sept, the High Septon declared Aegon to be King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm.

With the destruction of the Storm King, Argilac the Arrogant, and the death of the last King of the Reach, control of the castle of Storm's End passed to Aegon's bastard half-brother Orys Baratheon, and of Highgarden to Harlen Tyrell. Edmyn Tully of Riverrun was named Lord Paramount of the Trident. The day of Aegon's coronation by the High Septon in Oldtown became the first day of Aegon's reign, beginning 1 AC.

Meanwhile the crimsons remained silent amassing their wealth and power in peace and developing the basilisk isles as the main trading point for ships going from westeros to essos and vice versa. The basilisk isles had become the main trading market for the world where people could find anything they wanted from all around the world.
