Chapter 2 - Legends

Opening my eyes slowly, I could see, although a little blurred because of the previous light, the face of a man looking at me, with a warm smile that transmitted to me a feeling of peace and tranquility.

The man was about 5' 5" tall, head with a very short hair, almost shaved, had a protruding nose and a mustache underneath, wore round glasses, and as clothing wore a dothi(Dhote is a type of clothing worn by various men in India).

"Are you God?" I asked the man with a bit of astonishment.

"I am only a human" replied the man.

"If you are not God, tell me, Who are you?", and what does this meaning of Elysian Fields mean?" I asked the man, with mild curiosity.

"Call me Gandhi, and the Elysian Fields are equivalent to the Christian Paradise, depending on your religion, however, here it is reserved for a few specific humans." Answered the Man, with his smile still remaining on his face.

"Gandhi?", but hadn't you died?" I asked the Man.

"And you died too boy" Gandhi replied showing some amusement on his face.

"True, if I am here then I am part of this specific group of humans, and what makes us different from the others?" I asked.

"Come, let me introduce you to the place while I explain it to you," Gandhi said, as he walked.

Following him, I started to notice my surroundings, the place I was was similar to Stonehenge, looking around it was one of the most beautiful landscapes I ever had the opportunity to look at, the grass extending to the mountains around, the place had enough trees extending as far as my vision could reach, some of them had the appearance and color different from each other, some green, others pink and even blue, a few miles to the right you can see some houses, on the left side a long river with crystal clear water extends.

"Here where we are is what we call the Cradle, it's where we all appear after we die," said Gandhi.

"And are there many people here sir?" I asked.

"Not many, I believe less than 200 people are here." Answered Gandhi with his smile still lingering on his face.

"Could you tell me the names of some of them, just to see if my deduction is correct." I asked Gandhi.

"Of course, I'll name the people I'm taking you to, Jesus, Buddha, Mandela.

"It seems that my deduction is correct, in Mythology the Elysian Fields is a place that only the souls of heroes, saints, priests, poets and gods enter. And since I am here, and I am no poet, saint, priest, let alone a god, I am left with only the hero, but do the things I have done really give me the right to be here?" I muttered as I thought.

"Boy, my turn to ask a question." Gandhi spoke.

"Sure, be my guest," I replied.

"Tell me, what did you do to be able to get in here?" asked Gandhi.

"I believe it's because of the Healing I created, and a Machine" I replied

"Oh, and what cure and machine did you create?" replied Gandhi, who I could see for the first time a trace of curiosity in his voice.

"I have developed a cure for Cancer, and a machine capable of converting the carbon dioxide in the air into Oxygen.

I noticed that the moment I said I developed the cure for cancer, Gandhi stopped his steps and stared at me with an amazed face.

"What is it sir?" I asked him curiously.

"Child, if you are in doubt about being here, who has created a cure for one of humanity's greatest evils, what's left for us?" spoke Gandhi.
