46 THE SEA BE OURS

The Shivering Sea, Westeros, Third Moon of 279 AC

The Winds of the Shivering sea were as dangerous as its waters, cold and unforgiving, at least to those not ready to face it. The Skagossi fleet and Manderly fleet held hegemony of these waters.

Unlike what many would think, the Manderly fleet, instead of losing gold due to the Skagossi fleet's sudden appearance and success, ended up getting more gold than before; but unlike The Skagossi fleet that made gold by trading, protecting, and delivering their goods, the Manderly fleet made money by offering protection to Skagos( and other Northern territories) southern trade partners, which were numerous and also by charging a small tax on any ship that wanted to up the White Knife river, something suggested by Lord Dovahkiin himself. This made House Manderly richer and happier, which in turn made The North United as the two greatest naval powers of the north did compete or went against each other.

As The OldGods' Revenge cut through the freezing waters of the Shivering Sea, Ragnar and Dacey enjoyed the trip by simply staying on the ship's deck overlooking the sea. Ragnar and Dacey's clothes had heating enchantments which made enjoying staying outside extremely more accessible.

" Will we stop at Gulltown, Rag? I've heard that Gulltown is the biggest settlement in the Vale and its only city." Dacey said as she looked at the waters dancing below the ship; she wore a dark grey winter dress made of wool with white furs on the end of sleeves and neck; she looked as regal as any winter queen; her raven hair was braided and had some winter roses as decoration.

"Nay, I don't think Lord Arryn would appreciate getting a surprise visit from us, specifically with the Revenge docking on their ports, but I could send him a raven, informing our plan to stop by In Gulltown," Ragnar replied as he hugged his wife from behind. Ragnar wore a black gambeson with red sewing on the edges, a dark red cloak with furs on the shoulders, and his dark brown hair was held on a single long braid with the sides of his head shaved.

"Hum, that would be a good idea; they say the vale has the best kind of pumpkin in the Seven Kingdoms…." Dacey answered as she melted on her husband's hug; even since she had gotten pregnant, she and her husband's relationship had significantly changed, from just desire to love and affection.

"Hey, fucker, if you let this rope fall a second time and we lose time having to pull it down again, I will throw you at sea with my Morningstar up your arse," Dacey shouted at one of the sailors who was tying up a rope connected to one of the sails, Dacey never left her husband arms. Still, the sailor got the message good enough.

"What?" Dacey said as she looked up behind and saw Ragnar with a raised eyebrow and a smirk " I've got an image to uphold; I can't let them think I lost my touch due to our child," she completed. Ragnar just chuckled and kissed her forehead

" I know, I know, my fierce she-bear," Ragnar said humorously; Dacey smiled but said nothing. They stood like that for a few hours, talking about nothing and everything, talking about their plans. In the sky above, The Ice Dragon, which Dacey named Snowstorm, was flying calmly; Snowstorm couldn't perch at the ship, for it was bigger than the Revenge. So when it wanted to rest, it would simply fly to the closest mountain to sleep and catch up later.

Dacey liked to fly regularly, but due to her pregnancy, she could only fly with Ragnar, not that she minded; she knew her limits.

It was almost night when Dacey decided to retire to her cabin, with Ragnar deciding to stay to watch the sailors working; he was sitting on a chair near the entrance to the Lord's cabin; it was at that moment that the watchman saw ten sister-man ships closing in; he sounded the bell and waited.

" Ah, finally… these fucking sister-man!! One day I will snap and drown those islands on the sea. Fucking pirates!" Ragnar murmured as he watched the sailors enter combat positions. Dacey, who had just retired to her cabin, came back to Ragnar's side to see what he would do.

" What should we do, Rag? There are 10 of them." Dacey said, not really apprehensive but not totally unconcerned.

" We will sit and watch… you have no idea of how much this ship outclasses any other vessels in existence. They have no chance with 10, 30, 40, even 60… they will be massacred," Ragnar said calmly as he pulled Dacey to his lap.

" Just sit and watch… you will have an idea of what I'm talking about," Ragnar completed.

So sit and watch they did; it was just like Ragnar bad predicted; no enemy vessel stood a chance; they were wiped out in a rain of explosive fireballs.

"Now, I understand what you meant, my love. They didn't even have a chance." Dacey said she, like Ragnar, held no love for pirates, and any way to kill them was welcome.

" Aye," Ragnar said as he let Dacey out of his lap and stood up; he walked to the balcony usually used by the Captain to oversee the sailors and said

" Men… I have only one thing to say" the until now noisy deck went quiet like the wind; they all looked at Ragnar and waited, " THE SEAS BE OURS!!" Ragnar's voice thundered, his Thu'um leaking as his pride grew; all felt his voice in the ship; the winds were restless, and so was the sea.

"AYE" They shouted in response, and Ragnar smiled.

" Let's go rest, my love. Kingslanding is five days away."

The trip continued, but no one forgot about the sweet victory they had against the sister-man.

Five Days later

The Red Keep was in a festive mood ever since Lord Dovahkiin sent a raven, informing His Grace that he would answer the summons. The King, usually snappy and angry, was extremely excited. Many thought it was because the King would meet the man who saved his life again, but a select few knew that it was because Ragnar Dovahkiin had somehow tamed a Dragon, not the fire-breathing ones but a Dragon nonetheless, one that could breathe a blizzard powerful enough to destroy a castle. Something that made some Lords nervous and others skeptic, mostly skeptic. Many people were thanking the gods for Ragnar Dovahkiin's visit as a happy king meant no unfair executions.

The City was packed with nobles; many people wanted something from the Lord of Skagos, be it gold, trade agreements, ships, glass, etc. There were so many nobles that Tywin Lannister gave the idea to host a tourney only for entertainment and as a welcome to the savior of the King, something the King and his court found appealing.

In the Small Council chamber, Lord Velaryon was giving a somewhat troublesome report, troublesome for the enemies of The North, that is.

" Your Grace, a giant warship with the Banners of House Dovahkiin docked on DragonStone a few hours ago. It was bigger than a Whaler-Ship, all black in color, with three masts and strange holes on the sides. Three other regular warships accompanied the enormous Vessel." Lord Velaryon said

" Why is a giant ship something you would report? After the common size of a warship, the bigger the ship, the easier it is to sink it." Lord Staunton said

" Well, the thing is, this ship is faster than a regular warship, and those holes are a weapon of sorts, probably a catapult or a strange scorpion," Lord Velaryon answered.

The King, who was silent, chose to remain so, which gave Varys an opening.

" My little birds didn't know about said ship until it docked in DragonStone; they were able to figure out that the Skagossi considered the Vessel the greatest in existence, although none said why apparently they had an encounter with ten sister-man pirates and wiped all of them out, living no survivors… and the giant ship was the only one that engaged in combat. A little… curious thing about the Vessel is its name… The OldGods' Revenge." Varys said calmly. " My little birds also got something else from Lord Dovahkiin's entourage. He is bringing his Dragon; I've got reports about a white dragon flying over some mountains in the Vale. Following Lord Dovahkiin's fleet's pace." Varys completed

"That… so it's true.. this can't be… we must do something," Maester Pycelle said; his whole demeanor seemed wrong

" We are doing something, Grandmaester; we have had this discussion before; we have summoned Lord Dovahkiin here to solve this… issue. Even if he isn't a sorcerer, and can't hatch a Valyrian Dragon, it doesn't matter because his wife is pregnant. We will bring the dragons back to House Targaryen the same way we brought Dorne into the fold…." Rhaegar said, his face had a small smile.

" Through marriage? Again, your grace, I must advise against doing such a thing. Even if rich or powerful, House Dovahkiin is too young." Said Pycelle, after he recomposed himself

" Rhaegar is right," The King said, " Even if Lord Dovahkiin is not a sorcerer, he still has a Dragon and one as intelligent as a Valyrian Dragon, capable of understanding commands… such as attach this castle, follow me… hatch some eggs…." The King completed.

" Your Grace… isn't it dangerous giving this man more power than he already has? He already has a city and a large fleet… We also don't know if his Dragon is capable of laying eggs; it could be a male… taking under consideration that an Ice Dragon has never been tamed or even seen before, one could assume that once this Dragon dies, there will be no other" Tywin said, his face as blank as the halls of Castemere

" Well, we could ask… and without the dragon House Dovahkiin is good enough to get a royal marriage… they are a house capable of forging Valyrian Steel…." Rhaegar said calmly, and the King nodded.

" Rhaegar… it's time. I will announce your marriage for the next moon; it's enough time for all lords invited to arrive." The King said; his voice was calm, but his eyes were like those of a madman

" As you wish, father," Rhaegar said, neither happy nor sad.

" Anything else?" The King asked

" Yes, your grace. An Iron Bank representative was in Winterfell recently; he and Lord Stark had a meeting on Lord Stark solar; my little birds failed to report the contents of said meeting; the only thing of note was that the Iron Bank representative and Lord Stark seemed… satisfied with whatever it was." Varys said

Pycelle seemed to have an idea as his face brightened

" Yes, they must be plotting against the Iron Throne! Your Grace should call the banners on House Stark and The North… Your grace should kill the false Dragon and use his ship against his people," Pycelle said, and at that moment, everyone realized something was very wrong with Pycelle; he seemed shocked, as if something had gone wrong; it was like he wasn't thinking straight

But before the King could say anything, Rhaegar said

" That's ridiculous… it's a known fact that once a Northerner, especially a Stark, gives you an oath, the oath will be honored. The North has never rebelled against the Iron Throne; every time we call the banners they come, their taxes are always the first to be paid. Attacking Lord Dovahkiin will make us lose The North, and nothing short of a Dragon will be able to make The North knee again. If you attack The North, we will have a second Argos Sevenstar." Rhaegar said, praying to the gods that his father would listen to him

" I agree…" The King said, and Pycelle smiled," With Rhaegar," The King completed, making an ample smile grace Rhaegar's face " The Stark are loyal, my father said as much… my enemies aren't in The North" The King said, Pycelle seemed to want to contest that but chose to remain silent, as Rhaegar gave him a look that promised pain.

" Anything else?" Tywin said cooly

" Aye… the Lords of the reach are concerned about…" Lord Chelsted began

(12 Hours later)

The OldGod's Revenge docked In Kingslanding at night after The Captain asked permission to dock and paid a considerable amount to stay for an undetermined amount of time. Ragnar and Dacey chose to remain on the ship for the night. There were few people on the Red Keep, and the King was probably sleeping, so there was no reason to leave the ship.
