1 Chapter 1

It's been fifteen years since my reincarnation into this world. I couldn't believe it at first, yet the reality of it was all around me. Not only that, I am in the world of Game Of Thrones, in the year 285 AC. A show that I used to watch that left many in utter disappointment.

I didn't really care one way or the other. I barely even remember the plot or any of the characters. All I want is to live a good life, without a care in the world. Maybe even travel a bit, who knows.

Unfortunately I had the misfortune to be born as a small folk. Basically a commoner, on the bright side I wasn't born a slave or even a bastard. Though one could be forgiven for assuming the latter with the way I'm treated in my own home.

"Colton! Stop slacking and get yer arse over here!"

Sigh, looks like I've been away too long and father has noticed my absence. With a sigh, I rose from the tree I was sitting against. Wiping the dirt from my pants I made my way back home.

As I walked I could see my father in the distance not too far from the little home we live in. A simple thing, enough space for a small family. We were farmers, at least that's the only thing I could come up with. It's not like we ever offer up our produce to any lord as payment.

As I neared the home father looked at me with anger clear across his face. He is a heavy set man with pale skin and dark hair and even darker eyes. Living in the North will give you that completion. It's cold as all hell here. He was average looking and stood at six feet two inches tall. At fifteen, I was the mirror image of my father, two inches shorter and much slimmer.

"How many times do I have to tell you boy! When I tell you to do something you get it done!" He barked in my face.

"Whatever do you mean, father?" I asked neutrally. I loathed referring to this man as father, but what choice do I have? He provides food and shelter, and I'm not exactly capable of surviving on my own in a medieval world.

"The chickens, they weren't put back in the coop. Now they're running all around! If even one of them goes missing, we'll have words!" He yelled, I honestly didn't know why he continued to do so, I was right in front of him after all.

"I did put them away." I replied calmly though inside I was seething at the injustice of it all.

"Well, clearly you didn't! Otherwise they would be in their coop! You're going to find every last one of them, and don't come back until you do!"

Without saying another word he turned and stomped off back into the house. I watched him leave with a clenched fist and cursed him the whole time.

"What the hell is his problem? Fucker always has some issue with me."

I knew what his problem was, though it made no sense to me. My birth wasn't easy, in fact my mother died in the process. And the fucker has always blamed me for it. I mean, he has reminded me of that fact many times already.

Shaking my head to calm down I make my way over to the coop. Once there I see that the latch is undone and the door ajar. I know I closed the latch properly, how the hell could this have happened?

"Looks like the idiot forgot to lock the coop. Now father is all upset, can't you do anything right?"

"What do you expect, it's Colton we're talking about. He always fucks up."

Turning around, I spotted two boys leaning against a tree some paces away. They were about thirteen years old and are twins. They are also my half brothers. Yeah, father remarried after mom died and his new bitch spawned these two idiots. Aldo and Arnol, they are both gingers with green eyes, taking after their mother.

"What the hell do you two want? Can't you see I'm busy?" I replied before turning back to the coop.

"Maybe if you paid more attention, this would have never happened. Speaking of, how did you manage to leave the latch undone?" Arnol said, attempting to provoke me.

"Yeah, I wonder how that could have happened?" Aldo added with mock curiosity.

So it was them, god I can't stand these two imbeciles. Why am I not surprised it was them. The idiots took after their mother in making my life hell. They've been trying to drive me out the moment they were able. And the fact that father treats me like crap emboldened them, especially that bitch mother of theirs.

"Fuck off." I said, not in the mood to come up with anything witty. Wasn't really my forte anyway.

They snickered as they walked off, not before wishing me happy hunting. With a sigh I spent the next two hours hunting down the chickens. Unfortunately one of them was dead, judging by the fact that all I could find of it was blood and a couple feathers.

It must have been snagged by a larger bird or something. Point is, father isn't going to be happy, but I'm tired so I don't really care. Making my way back to the house I entered to find everyone eating at the table.

Father, idiot one and two, and my stepmother. She had the same ginger hair and green eyes as her sons. She is also curvy and well endowed. Both upstairs and downstairs, sadly her personality is shit.

No one paid me any mind and I scanned the table for my bowl. Not finding one I looked around and found one set aside, away from the family. Shaking my head I walked over and inspected it. The bowl was half filled with broth and a few vegetables floating around. I noticed that there was no meat either, damn cunt gave me nothing.

Picking up the bowl I was surprised by how cold it was. Upon further inspection I noticed a bug in the bowl. With a frown I picked the bug out and dug in. Beggars can't be choosers, and I learned my lesson long ago not to complain about serving size.

As I ate I could hear loud slurping coming from the main table and as I looked over I saw how they all ate and laughed. They spoke about their day, the weather, and the crops. Typical family stuff, except I wasn't a part of any of it.

After finishing my bowl, I made my way to the pot to grab a second serving. Sadly the pot was empty and I could hear the snickering of my half brothers from the table. I just wanted to walk over there and slap the shit out of all of them. But I knew better, I weighed about one hundred and thirty pounds. Yeah that would not end well, especially since I don't know how to fight.

"Boy, you found all the chickens?" Father asked from the table, finally taking notice of my presence.

"I found all but one, it's most likely dead." I answered.

Before I knew what happened, a bowl sailed through the air and connected with my head. I fell to the floor and grit my teeth.

"What do you mean one is dead!? Dammit boy, do you think those chickens were cheap!? If you weren't in such a hurry to slack off this wouldn't have happened!" He bellowed.

As he spoke he made his way towards me and loomed over me. All I could do was curl up and shield my important parts. This wouldn't be the first time he's lost his shit and taken it out on me.

"I didn't do anything wrong, I locked the coop when I was done." I answered.

"So who did it, the chickens!?" He yelled, not willing to let it go.

"I don't know, ask Aldo and Arnol. They seemed to know what happened." I replied, and without missing a beat, the bitch began screeching.

"How dare you try to blame my precious boys for your mistake! Not only have you cost us a chicken, but now you try to lie on your own blood! Baby, I told you we should have sent him to the war. He's old enough now to take care of himself. He can't do anything right and he's lazy. We can't afford to take care of someone not willing to work." When she spoke to me she was yelling like some banshee. Yet when she spoke to father, she was all meek and docile, taking the air of a concerned and supportive wife.

That dumb bitch, I do most of the work around here. While her chubby kids do fuck all but eat. But as always, father would rather listen to the cunt in all things.

"That's right father, we didn't do nothing!" Aldo screeched, sounding much like his cunt of a mother.

"Damn you boy! I tried my best with you, I feed you and give you shelter! And you still want to slack off! When I was your age I was being scouted for the nights watch! I tried to work with you in the name of your dead mother, the one you killed! No more! Pack your things and get out, I don't want to see you around here again!"

His words rained down on me like thunder and my blood boiled with rage. But I held it in, it was so tempting to lash out, to call him an asshole for blaming me for something out of my control. But I said nothing, I just slowly stood and headed for the door without saying a word.

The cold air lashed my body with it's uncaring winds. I wrapped my cloak around me and ran into the night. I didn't look back, all I wanted was to get away. I ran as fast as I could and next thing I knew I tripped and rolled before coming to a stop.

Laying on my back, I just stared at the stars in the sky. I shed a tear as I thought about this shitty life of mine. I didn't give two fucks about that man and his wife and shity kids. I was just pissed at how I had to suffer so much in this new life.

"What the fuck did I do to deserve this? Sure I was a nobody working at a dead end job, but this is just bullshit. I can't survive out here on my own. I'm from the city, and that bastard never taught me shit about wilderness survival."

Cursing my luck, I only just now noticed the corpse lying next to me. Sitting up I realized it was the chicken I never found. It looked Terrible, it definitely suffered before it died.

"At least you don't have to suffer anymore."

I reached over to further inspect the carcass, hoping to find some edible bits. Yet as my hand made contact with it, an image of the chicken appeared in my minds eye. I pulled back my hand in shock and the image faded.

"What the hell was that?"

I tentatively reached out and touched the corpse again. Like before, the image of the chicken appeared in my mind's eye again. The chicken looked as it did when it was alive. Under the image was a collection of folders. General health, nervous system, circulatory system, digestive system, and all the others were layers of information, superimposed under its image in my minds eye.

I could dive deeper into each one with a thought. I could interpret its DNA, from its appearance, to the smallest detail of the workings of its body, I could also see how degraded its system was, from its optimal health according to its genetics.

It was a mind boggling amount of information, that not only included the body, but brain chemistry, personality, biorhythms, and other disciplines that weren't exact sciences even in my old world. It was also very well organized.

I clicked on general health and a list of information appeared before me. At the top however was the words, current status: dead. Well I already knew that, thinking of its heart, an image of the heart came into view. It was missing pieces of it. Without even realizing what I was doing, I felt a force from within me leaving and transferring towards the chicken's body.

I could see as the heart began repairing, until it was whole again. Now before me was the image of a whole heart. I was fascinated by what I had just done. I went back to the general health, but the status didn't change. It was still dead.

"Well that makes sense, all I did was repair the heart." Removing my hand I was back in the real world and to my surprise, the carcass looked even worse.

"What the hell, I could have sworn it had more meat on it's bones. Could it be that to repair the heart, material from the rest of the body was used in the process? Yeah, that makes sense, I mean, where else would the extra flesh come from? I sure as hell don't have any on me. And I didn't feel anything leaving my body except for that unfamiliar force."

Shaking my head, I tried focusing on myself. After a few minutes, nothing happened. Odd, why can't I view my own body?

"Maybe it only works on corpses? I'll hav"

A scream tore through the air and brought me back to my surroundings. I looked around trying to figure out where the scream came from. I heard it again and realized it came from back where I came from.

Standing to my feet I shambled back the way I came. In the distance I could hear the clashing of metal and the screams from earlier.

"Its coming from home. Bandits maybe? Oh well, not my business anymore. Wait, maybe I could use this to test this mysterious power."

A smile came to my face as I carefully made my way back home.
