28 Fighting the Kraken - Part 2

Raising itself out of the water, the Kraken opened its gaping maw to give a mighty roar, bombarding everyone on the deck with slime.

"Fuck that's one ugly-looking Kraken!" Arrluk exclaimed in disgust.

Screeechhhhh!

The Kraken screamed in return showing its serrated teeth underneath the opening of its mouth for everyone to see.

"And a one smelly too!" Arrluk dampened his smelling ability with magic when he almost retched after breathing in the air coming out of the Kraken mouth.

The Kraken seemed to have taken a great offence at that just after Arrluk said that, the arms of the huge creature swooped up the starboard side of the ship, clearing many men from the deck, and smashing the longboats. One such unfortunate person was Dhorbass, the man Arrluk had befriended somewhat, he was sent flying out of the ship before plunging into the sea with a splash, his fate unknown.

As the tentacles of the Kraken had snaked onboard - the beast had finally found the person that had dismembered one of its eight limbs and heavily injured another one with an arrow.

How could it not when it saw with the help of its numerous eyes atop its giant head, a glowing blade appearing in front of a human. One look at the magic blade was enough for Kraken to sense the danger. With another screech, The Kraken waved two of its tentacles towards Arrluk concentrating on forming the blade with his remaining mana.

"Shit!" Arrluk cursed when he saw that. he was thinking of sniping the Kraken while it was busy clearing the men on the deck and cutting off its head with one strike of his wind blade but the Kraken seemed to know the danger he posed, thus he was attacked immediately.

Arrluk's body kicked out to create distance. At the same time, he used both his hands to separate the big blade into shorter ones and shoot out wind blades at the Kraken's arms trying to smash him into a paste. Doing that reduced the power behind the blades, but it did its work as it cut deep into the flesh of the Tentacles causing them to shrink back in pain and coil themselves around the injured area to stop the bleeding.

"Fire!" Kojjaa shouted to the Red Archers and she herself let loose an arrow after aiming at the many eyes of the beast.

Swish!

The Kraken closed most of its eyes in time but one arrow still managed to pierce the soft membrane of its eyes causing it to squeal in pain. The Kraken seemed to have decided not the attack Arrluk again, fearing it would lose all its legs so it slowly crawled back towards the railing to get back to the safety of the sea.

Seeing it enter such a state, Arrluk kept his cool as he calmly continued to send out some wind blades that were the size of a knife, this made the Kraken shrink even more and use all of its legs to protect its head. It was such a giant creature that even if its health had dropped to low levels, he still wasn't confident in climbing on it and dealing with his sword, no one on the deck was confident even if they had a Valyrian sword.

If Arrluk were to fall into the sea, he would instantly be caught up in its turbulent waters and become fish food. Likewise, if he were to suffer a direct hit by any of those long tentacles swinging about, his life would end immediately. Therefore, it was paramount that he kept his distance from the giant beast and attack it from afar.

Quhuru seemed to know how valuable Arrluk's life was now so he brought a group of his trusted guards and climbed the stairs of the platform to defend the boy if the Kraken goes mad once again and decides to retaliate against him once again.

Using all of his focus and his remaining mana, Arrluk sent out his last Wind blade towards the Kraken before it could jump off the ship.

The green blade travelled the air with a speed similar to an arrow and separated another arm of the Kraken before heavily injuring its head with the remaining power. But even after being afflicted by all those injuries, the Kraken still managed to jump off the ship and dive into the sea causing the sea to become turbulent and making the ship sway due to the waves.

Not knowing if the Kraken would come back or not, Arrluk immediately sat on the ground to rest and restore his mana. Quhuru ordered his men and Kojja to protect Arrluk with their life and he himself went back to the deck to certain the damage to his ship and loss of manpower and find a way to get the hell out of these waters as soon as possible.

With one of its masts destroyed and the sail of another one torn apart, the ship was sitting duck in the middle of the sea. Quhuru could only ask the uninjured ones to bring the spare sail from below the deck and replace the torn one with it.

After restoring mana in his body for one more large Wind blade, Arrluk stood up to certain their situation.

Seeing the men and women clad in leather armour and weapons surrounding him with their backs to him brought a smile to his face.

Kojja who was also tasked to protect him turned around when she heard Arrluk standing on his feet.

"Arrluk! Are you alright? You look exhausted and pale." Kojja said with some concern. Arrluk's magical feat has saved the crew and the ship from the Kraken as such she was very grateful to him, almost wanting to go and reward him with a deep kiss but seeing his forehead adorned with large veins and tired-looking face, she became concerned about his health.

Surely, the magic of the calibre that Arrluk has shown comes with a heavy price.

"I'm fine. Just have a little headache from overuse of my... ah ability. I will recover after a night's rest. First, we need to get out of here. We don't know if the Kraken will come back for revenge. If it decided to punch a hole in the hull then to confront us head on then even I will not be able to save us." Arrluk said in a grave tone.
