16 Chapter-14 White Harbor (Part 3)

"I finally don't need to sleep on grass or in a hard cave..." Feeling the bed soft and warm, Jaehaerys narrowed his eyes comfortably.

"Lazy." Lying beside him, Malenia didn't hesitate to criticize him. Which is normal between the two of them.

But a rare thing happened, Jaehaerys didn't refute her as he always does and nodded, gladly accepting her words.

This made Malenia show a lost expression, she was ready to start another round of teasing, but her plan hadn't even started and it came to a premature end, leaving her quite displeased.

Suddenly, she saw the smile full of pride on his lips, while the beautiful and mysterious lilac eyes stared at her with a provocative look. At this moment, she knew he was teasing her.

A flame of anger flared in her vengeful heart, without hesitation she pivoted and climbed onto Jaehaerys's hips, her face looming dangerously close to his. Their noses crossed and affectionately rubbed against each other, while her red eyes stared into his deep lilac eyes. Each could feel each other's hot breath, heart pounding, and the ambiguous feeling of the two.

Unconsciously, their lips were getting closer and closer, Malenia looked at him with her big eyes and slowly closed her eyes.

*Tock tock!

Suddenly, a knock on the door, made the action of the two freezes in the air, quickly, Malenia opened her eyes and got off Jaehaerys, showing an indifferent look, as if what happened before didn't matter.

The two donned their black robes again and pulled their hoods over their faces. Jaehaerys looked at her and she looked at him silently, trying to see if there was any flaw in each other's clothes. After seeing that there were no flaws in their clothes, Malenia went to open the door.

Opening the door, there was an unknown man, with curly black hair and tanned skin, a mature and handsome face. He held two thick wooden trays, with two plates and cutlery, on the plates, there was a steaming fish soup, which exuded a tempting aroma.

Seeing the two figures in black robes, Joseph's heart began to beat faster. He knew it was a bold thing to do that, the two people in front of him could kill him in a second, maybe he wouldn't even react and he would be dead.

"Please come in, you seem to want to speak with us." Seeing the man's appearance and the strong feeling he exuded, Jaehaerys elegantly gestured for him to enter the room.

Placing the thick wooden trays on the bedroom table, Joseph looked curiously at the winged helm not far from him. He had never seen such a different helm before in Westeros. Maybe it's from Essos?

With those thoughts in mind, he turned and bowed like a Westeros nobleman and introduced himself with great skill: "My name is Joseph Celtigar, my lord."

"Celtigar? House Celtigar is of Valerian descent, but I see no trace of it in you, Lord Joseph." Hearing the surname Celtigar, Jaehaerys became more interested in the man in front of him. For as one of the three Houses with Old Valyrian blood in Westeros, they have been allied with the Targaryens for over two centuries, the other two houses being Targaryen and Velaryon.

"I am but a bastard of Lucerys Celtigar, my lord, I am the son of a peasant girl in White Harbor." Joseph spoke with a calm; he didn't feel inferior for being a bastard.

"Oh, I know your father, a nasty man who, for his own benefit, slandered Rhaegar Targaryen, making the father-son relationship even more chaotic. His father played an important role in the war thirteen years ago, Son of the Sea." Jaehaerys looked at Joseph with a bit of killing intent, no one would want his father to be so slandered, but that killing intent came on fast and disappeared even faster, he didn't like killing people so wantonly. Though he was curious why a bastard used the name of House Celtigar.

Malenia looked at all this with a cold gaze and did not interfere at all, her hand was holding her curved golden sword, like a sword, she will draw her sword when ordered or when Jaehaerys is in danger.

After hearing Jaehaerys' words, Joseph's mind is chaotic and full of thoughts. Did my dad do this? had he been involved in the Usurper's war for thirteen years? countless questions popped into the mind of the bastard from House Celtigar.

The cold, indifferent voice rang in his ears, waking him from his complicated thoughts.

"So what brings a son of a traitorous man into my chambers?"

A trace of fear appeared in Joseph's heart, even though he had experienced many battles and killed countless pirates, he felt an overwhelming pressure descending on him, making it difficult for him to even speak.

Taking a deep breath and trying to calm the fear, he knew this was a chance for him to live. He looked at what was Jaehaerys's face hidden by the hood and spoke seriously.

"My purposes were to hire the Phantoms of the North to protect my sailboat, White Star, to King's Landing." He was straight to the point and didn't lie at all as he knew he would die if he said too much or said something wrong.

Northern Ghosts?

Blinking a few times in confusion, Jaehaerys couldn't think of anything that would tie him to that nickname.

Seeing the mysterious man in silence, Joseph's heart beat faster, sweat trickled down his forehead, he felt that he would die at any moment, if he knew that his House was apparently the enemy of the man in front of him, he would never dare to come near these executioners!

"Tell me more about the Ghosts of the North." The black robed man's voice full of interest let Joseph's tense heart relax a little.

Joseph answered without any hesitation and spoke everything he knew, even including the name of the leader of the marauders, Victor Wilhem.

Jaehaerys after knowing all the information was speechless, hiding in horse shit was certainly a smart idea, especially for him who has a very strong sense of smell.

I cannot underestimate people's will to live!

Deciding in the future that he would be more thorough if he were on a similar occasion, Jaehaerys looked at Joseph a little more kindly.

"I'm going to King's Landing, since you want to hire me, that's a hundred golden dragons a day." He said in an unquestioning voice, the bastard in front of him had no right to refuse.

"It is an honor that my ship has such distinguished guests." Even though he was bleeding inside, Joseph showed him a grateful look and as if he had run away, he walked out of the room without looking back.

"Fate is really unexpected, finding the bastard son of one of my father's enemies in such a faraway place is really unusual." Jaehaerys said letting out a heavy sigh. Malenia approached and stood beside him, as if she were saying that he had someone on his side.

"Let's eat, I'm starving!" Realizing this, Jaehaerys flashed a warm smile to her partner and friend.

In White Harbor, at the Tavern of the Golden Boar, a silent but hearty dinner was taking place in one of the bedrooms.

[Merry Christmas!!! I wish you all a nice dinner with the family tonight.]
