CHAPTER FIVE: MATILDA AND MR. DEVIL

"Why should it be him? Why? So, this is the reason my father, mother, and Melina died? So, it was all the doings of Alena, Fred, and Steven? What did my family do to warrant this?" While she asked those questions, tears streamed down her eyes.

"Did you now see what your trust does to you, and your parents?" Derrick asked with a smirk on the corner of his lips.

She raised her head slowly to grace the view of Derrick smiling. His smile made her hate him more, how can he smile at a time like this? "Mr Devil. You are the one who possessed him! Mr. Steven will never harm a fly!"

She did not know the reason, she still finds it hard to believe Steven was the one behind the death of her parents, sister, and also wanted her dead.

"Young lady, cut me some respect! I'm a thousand years older than you!" He began. "He wasn't possessed by the devil! He was possessed by the love of money! He betrayed you all because he chose money instead of you, and your naive parents." Derrick uttered those words without feeling bad, neither was he sad for what happened to them.

"Mr Devil! Just go! Take your life!" She didn't understand why she badly wanted to live when there wasn't any reason for her to live.

It is obvious, she can never win against Alena.

"What about Melissa? Did you think If I take back this life, everything won't be as it was? Do you think you are the only person who will die? Oh, I think you would let your parents watch you allow those people to get away with their evil deeds, right?" His questions made her feel pathetic as she kept spacing her room, her hand roughing her long hair.

She hated herself for not curing it when she discovered she was diagnosed with Meningitis.

"Don't think about yourself because you no longer matter! You are just a container, who wants to get her revenge!" His voice echoed loudly.

"Mr. Devil, I don't care about how much I hate you, please help me to make them pay". She went on her knees with her hand on his black pair of suit trousers.

"Let's save your sister first, then we will know what follows". Immediately she heard those words, she stood up, and began to arrange her clothes.

Derrick burst into loud laughter as he watched her arrange her dress into a small nylon bag. "You might get caught, and end up losing my life! You know what that means, right?"

"What should I do? Aren't you the one who said my sister needs me? Did you want me to allow Alena plans to work in her favor?" She asked softly, her reddened eyes piercing into his.

"Let tele—"

"Telephone? Call through telephone for airplane? Or should I go get the telephone in Steven's office for you?" She asked hastily.

"It looks like your brain is totally messed up!" He yelled at her before he forcefully took her hand into his.

"What are you doing? Trying to seduce me? Did you—" Derrick did not wait for her to complete her words before he closed his eyes.

Some minutes later, Derrick opened his eyes before he turned his gaze to Matilda, who was amused.

Matilda kept staring at the place with her eyes widened as she was amused about how they came here.

"Why am I here? Do you abduct me by using my sister as bait? Why are we here? How, and when, did I get here?" She asked loudly as she continued to stare at the wide place.

"Alena was prepared. Your sister is at the river edge here. She got abducted by those men before we—'' Matilda did not wait for him to complete his words before she held his shit firmly.

"So you lied to me? So you deceived me! What is the essence of your f*cking life! Why did I need it if not for Melissa's sake!" She yelled continuously as more tears streamed down from her eyes.

She did not expect the man standing in front of her not to be any different from those liars, betrayals, and backstabbers.

Even though she hated him, she tried to make herself believe he was telling the truth. After knowing all she is passing through, how dare he mess with her?

"Matilda! Matilda!" The loud call of her name made her turn her gaze.

She froze as she watched her sister rush up to her with a black nylon on her hands, her face brightened by a smile, Melissa rushed up to her.

"Sister, why didn't you wait for me in the hospital? Why are you here?" Melissa asked Matilda as her hand trail to her body to check whether Matilda was ignored.

"Matilda, why are you here? Why aren't you at home or in the hospital? Why are you here!" Tears ran down her cheeks as she asked her sister several questions.

"What did you mean? Why are you scaring me? Uh? Is something wrong?" Melissa blinked her eyes as she stared at her sister, who was beginning to act weird.

Matilda, she knows, will only tell, scold, and mock her. She never cared to listen to other people's problems, nor did she want to know what anyone was going through.

"Melissa, if I ask you a question, what I want is an answer and not a question!" She yelled as more tears streamed down from her reddened eyes.

Melissa stared at Matilda for a while before she noticed her sister's eyes were reddened, dry tears line on her face, and her cheek were red.

After observing Matilda, tears made their way to her cheeks. She pitied her sister for going through all that, and yet came to search for her.

She hates herself for making her sister worried about her, and coming over here for her sake.

"Melissa, why are you crying?"

"How won't I cry? Matilda, you are going through a lot, yet I shouldn't cry? Did you know the mess we are in? That b*st*Rd ran away with your money! He breaks your heart…" As she muttered those words, she heard someone from behind, scoffing slowly.

"Young man, who are you?" Melissa took her hand from her sister before she took a step closer to the man, who just scoffed.
