Ch 10 : Old man Xia

In the outer part of Skyward forest, Seth was walking along with the other of the swallowtail mercenary group.

"Hey old man, what do you mean that time by getting closer to an Exceed? Wasn't Exceed an awakened with innate special ability?"

Old man Xia smirked at Seth with the 'I'm not telling you face'

"Hohohoho, it seems the young one still needs the guidance of this old master huh."

Seth's face darkened hearing his remarks, but Seth was somewhat able to adapt to the shamelessness of Old man Xia after some time.

"Oh Great Old Master, please tell and enlighten this young one with your great wisdom."

Old man Xia startled at Seth's response. It was out of his prediction that this young man would respond to his shamelessness with another shameless response.

"Zhe, stop it Kiddo. The way you said it just makes me wanna puke."

The other swallowtail member has got used to the 2 bickerings like this, so they just let them be.

"You know that Exceed is a person which gets special ability awakened from the blessing of 7 Deities right?"

Seth nodded and look seriously at Old man Xia this time.

"Actually the special ability is more than that. The special ability also grants the awakened person the right to surpass normal humans. To make it simple, it's like this. Normal Humans, no matter who they are could level up themself up to level 10. A normal human which has higher level than 0 is called awakened, they were physically better than the other normal humans. But, when they reach level 10. They reach their limits. No matter how hard they tried with the means of human, level 10 is the limit of the mortals."

"An Exceed is those who exceed the limitations of a normal human. Those who get their ability awoken, have the right to breakthrough level 10 and became an Exceed. The reason why I said you are growing closer to an Exceed, is because those normal awakeners who reach level 10, could have a chance to get the blessing of the 7 Deities."

Old man Xia take a deep sigh before continuing

"The other member of Swallowtail, they are all stuck at level 10 awakener. They are trying their best to get the blessing of the 7 Deities. Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Justice, Prudence, Temperance. To those level 10 awakener which possesses one of the 7 virtues, there is a chance that the 7 Deities will look at them and bless them as an Exceed."

Seth wanted to keep asking, but Old-man Xia kept his silence. Indicating that he doesn't want to talk about this topic anymore.

"The world I said to you before Kiddo, just treat them as sarcasm. This old man has lived long. But in his life, this old man has seen no more than 3 people that have successfully advance into an Exceed."

Old man Xia had some melancholy on his face when he told this to Seth. But before Seth could say anything, Old man Xia has gone to the very front of the group.

"Sato, let this old man surveyed the road ahead. The bone of this old man needs some works so it won't get rusty."

Seth looks at the disappearing old man with some inexplicable light. He has used the Divine eyes to check the status of Old man Xia before. He sighed and noticed that everyone must have their own story and problem.

With the strength of the Swallowtail member plus the insight of Seth, the hunt today was more bountiful than usual.

The party has hunted more than 5 mutated beasts in the range of 3 hours.

Swallowtail member itself isn't weak, they had the vanguard old man Xia to handle most of the damage and also act as a semi-tanker.

Mr. Sato worked as a sub-vanguard, which he will cover the Area which isn't covered by old man Xia.

The party also has 2 rear-guard.

The woman named Akari used a bow as a weapon and another middle-aged man who has keen perception and done his job well as a scout.

At the end of the day, the party split the reward equally. Since they have hunted 5 monsters, each member could get a monster, while Seth gets an extra part from the Big bad Mouse and the Ground Snake.

Seth was really content with today's result. The gain from today should at least be greater than his half-month salary.

In a joyful mood, Seth says goodbye to the other party members and went to the address indicated by his boss to sell the monster part.
