1 Prologue - The Battle of Both Worlds

Thousands of years ago, a magical kingdom emerged. It sheltered countless magical and mystical creatures, such as elves, fairies, angels and demons. This kingdom had a prosperous land ready to guarantee the evolution of its people and was hidden from the world of humans, preventing them from having contact with the creatures living there. The name given to that land was Sansaar, whose literal meaning in the language of heaven was "reverse world", a place in a parallel dimension, which was in the opposite direction of the real world, belonging to humans.

Little was known about its origin. Most of the stories of its creation were inconsistent and distorted over time, so it became quite difficult to know how and why this world had been created. The most popular version, and made official in the realm, was that a Supreme God, tired of seeing magical creatures being forced to live in hiding and afraid of humans, created a reverse world, in which it was possible for all races to live together peacefully.

In order to have a balance, power was granted to the races that were opposites, symbolizing the concept of good and evil, in the world of humans. Angels and demons, for being stronger, were destined to divide their power in Sansaar and establish peace, so that all could live in dignity. Angels were the direct subordinates of heaven, and the Supreme God, guaranteeing life on earth, while demons had no leader and kept resentful, evil souls trapped in the underworld.

Initially the place had been divided in two: The south side was completely ruled by the angels, who prioritized the cultivation of the purest magic ever existing, that could only bring out the good and had as main objective, helping to protect their people. This magic, which became known as vital energy, did not possess evil characteristics in any way. Rumors said that the sorcerers who walked this path perfectly, would even achieve immortality, equating in some way to the angels.

On the northern side, the demons kept cultivating a more radical path, which made use of completely offensive tactics, and could bring irreversible damage to the enemy. Few had control over such magic, as it was very complex. Because of that, it was extremely feared to make use of immoral tactics, such as making contact with evil spirits and distorting the sanity of its practitioners, leading them to madness. Immortality was not necessary for its users, because they died little by little, due to the effects caused by their use. The exceptions to this rule were not many, since practically no sorcerer could stand the magnitude of power that demonic magic emanated. Because of its countless negative effects, the name given to this magic was resentful energy.

For a brief period everything worked out, so both races lived peacefully among themselves. Each one performed its function, and occasionally, when both were in a comfortable mood, they could even exchange polite words with each other, without any hidden hostility. Everything was at peace, and Sansaar prospered more and more each day.

But such peace wouldn't last long.

In the year of the sixtieth anniversary of the creation of this world, the first rebellion in the kingdom arosed, caused by the dissatisfaction in the lack of representation of other races in Sansaar's government. Although all races were increasingly interested in the idea of a revolution, it was the elves and vampires who acted first. The elves directly attacked the ministerial palace, causing the first official dispute among the races. The vampires were even more radical and took measures that not only intimidated their rulers, but also directly harmed the population. The massacre of the city of Von was the first criminal act caused by one race and took the lives of thousands of innocent civilians.

Therefore, it was only natural that the angels and demons would start to have severe misunderstandings, due to the divergence of ideas about the manner in which Sansaar was supposed to be ruled. While the demons wished that they should from now on take more intolerant behavior to maintain order in the kingdom, the angels believed blindly on the idea of peace and forgiveness, and wished that the demons should not take any inappropriate action, respecting the orders given by heaven. In the midst of the revolts, their behavior became more and more hostile, and the opinions of the population, which was dissatisfied with the followed disagreements and problems caused in Sansaar because of this, began to divide as well. As a consequence of such differences, together with the pressure of the people to choose a single race to rule the country, a war arose.

It was a bloody war, the battle lasted for a entire month and was followed by numerous invasions against the north and south sides. Because of their thirst for power, both sides had long ago abandoned what they believed and acted cruelly against anyone who crossed their path. The angels, who always cherished life and the good above all, suddenly were cutting heads and tearing bodies from the enemy side, without the slightest remorse. The demons, who already had a certain temperamental behavior, seemed to be even more out of control and no longer measured the suffering that they were causing to anyone.

The two races had drifted so far out of their path, that an intervention was urgently needed. Many mystical creatures walked to the battlefield with the intention of containing them, but their great strength and power made this impossible, causing more and more casualties to occur. The situation gradually worsened and the people already feared the extinction of all races. Only a miracle would be able to save them from such chaos. Then, for the first time and in a desperate act, they started praying to heaven for mercy.

At first nothing had happened, but after a few days, a giant lightning cut through the heavens and it was possible to hear a bang. For the first time in history, someone had descended from the heavens.

The tall, angelic figure called himself De'Santh, the supreme God and creator of Sansaar. To end the dispute that was wearing away his kingdom and taking more and more innocent lives, he fought against his own people, the angels, and, as punishment for deviating from the path of heaven, mercilessly annihilated them. It was the first extinct race in history.

Demons, on the other hand, as they were not a race that was in their domains and were not created by the heavens, if they constituted completely of resentful energy, it would be wrong on their part to kill them. So De'Santh banished them directly to the lowest level of the underworld, forcing them to be imprisoned there forever, under the supervision of the heavens.

That was the end of the first era of the magical world.

Due to the great losses during the war, the kingdom went through countless problems related to the way of life, which became precarious. Many had died in the dispute between angels and demons, and the population was diminishing more and more with the wave of hunger that had appeared after the end of the war. The heavens, then, feared that this might be the end of Sansaar and built a portal to the real world, with a special enchantment that allowed only humans with the ability to develop magical powers, to cross it. Their goal with this was only one: to recover the population lost during the war and to increase the vital energy of the country.

More than a hundred years passed and more and more humans occupied the magical land, forming cities and restricted groups that developed their own civilizations and forms of magic. By the time the heavens realized it, humans had already become the strongest race in Sansaar, not because of their physical strength or aptitude, but because of their prudence and ability to adapt to any kind of situation. This made them create an environment where they were increasingly influential and powerful.

When they least expected it, Sansaar had ceased to exist completely and had become Galdur, the home of elemental clans.

The concept of the two energies, which had been implanted by angels and demons, became fragmented and completely distorted. Something that before was simply classified as defensive or attacking magic separated into good and evil magic. Everyone who followed the demonic path was severely repressed and discriminated, leading to this form of energy to be developed as secretively as possible. Little by little, this magic was forgotten and the vital energy became more and more famous, turning into a reference as the highest and most appropriate pattern of magic.

The humans, then, began to take advantage of the abundant and unlimited energy of nature to become ever stronger. The elements earth, water, fire and air, became the greatest representatives of the magic, originated from vital energy and were constantly used by all sorcerers.

As if they were going back in time, the heavens saw the huge mistake they made in opening the portal. Although humans living in Galdur differed in many ways from those in the real world, greed and thirst for power was still a very present feature of their character, and the sense of power that many obtained due to their influence in the realm made disputes for greater control of territories among the clans increasingly widespread.

There have been countless battles in these five thousand years. Most of them were caused by the same reason: To dominate territories and destroy other clans, so that they would have more influence and power. Many of the battles had so many versions, that it was impossible to tell exactly what had really happened and who was to blame. Corruption came like a tidal wave; it was incapable of running away and anywhere you would find it.

This situation persisted to this day. It seemed that every day, Galdur developed more and, with it, more problems arose. In such a critical situation, the population was crying out for a new savior, as even the heavens appeared to forget those living under them, and the responsibility they had over the occupation of humans in their territories. Hopes were lost by then. Praying to the Gods appeared to be useless and resisting to the clans was no longer any use.

Until the day a strange rumor began to circulate throughout the kingdom.

Traspassers, going from one city to another, would fervently comment on a mysterious encounter with an oracle, in the eastern forest. The story told basically said that when they saw the powerful oracle carried in white and shiny clothes in an extremely weakened state, they went to his rescue and tried to take care of it. Unfortunately their state was very serious and they were already on the verge of death.

There being nothing else that could be done, the passers-by, in pity for the poor old man, decided to stay by his side until he dies so, when the time come, he wouldn't be alone. The suspicious storytellers said that on his deathbed, and already giving his last sighs, the oracle had its last sight. While still in a state of shock, the charlatans were telling about a prophecy.

The prophecy said that in two hundred years, a soul that was trapped in the underworld, holding the spirit of the dragon's heart, would be patiently waiting for his return to the material level, in order to rise again and save everyone from the chaos that was raging in Galdur.

When everyone heard these rumors, the reactions were very mixed. The clan leaders laughed out loud, as if they had told the best joke he had ever heard. Warriors and sorcerers had expressions of disbelief, as if they doubted what was being said to them. Other races, living in secret and oppressed by wars, only denied with their heads, displaying their lack of hope.

The human civilians were the most naive, and when they heard such news, jumped with joy and performed countless festive ceremonies, clandestinely, in honor of their savior. Even though it sounded like nothing, but a baseless rumor, it was enough to fill them with hope that better days would come. Even if it was necessary to wait two hundred, five hundred and even a thousand years, they would wait if it would guarantee them the long-awaited peace.

As said in the prophecy, and just like five thousand years ago, the people just sat and waited for their savior without doing anything. When the time came, everyone jumped with excitement and cried with pure emotion. Most of them thought that their savior would come from heaven, so ceremonies were prepared for the entire city to look up in the waiting of the soul of the dragon's heart, so that it would be received in the best way.

Everyone looked up to the heavens for two whole days and nothing came up.

They waited for two hundred years, but nothing happened. Their savior hadn't come to Galdur.

Until now.
