28 Consequences

The same day as the shooting incident.

Orion approached Wesley with a sense of urgency that was uncharacteristic of his usually composed demeanor.

[Orion] "Sir, we have a problem," escaped his lips, signaling the gravity of the situation that had unfolded.

Wesley, picking up on the serious tone, turned to face Orion, his curiosity piqued yet laced with a hint of apprehension.

"What's wrong?" Wesley inquired, bracing himself for the news that was about to be delivered. Orion's voice carried a mix of anxiety and fear, emotions that were rarely associated with the AI's communications.

[Orion] "In my oversight of the situation with Sophia gaining control of her family position... Aurora Alastair and Madam Alastair, ordered a hit on your sister, thinking you were the biggest threat with Sophia's alliance. Because of this, your sister was shot and is currently in the hospital," Orion revealed, the weight of each word heavy with implication and a subtle self-reproach for not foreseeing Aurora and Madam Alastair's drastic measures.

"WHAT! FUCK!" Wesley's reaction was visceral, a potent cocktail of worry, anger, and guilt surging through him. The thought of his sister, caught in the crossfire of a vendetta that was never hers to bear, ignited a fierce protectiveness within him. "IS MY SISTER OKAY?!" he demanded, his voice a tempest of concern and fury.

[Orion] "She is currently alive and stable; however, she is in a coma, and the doctors are uncertain when she will awaken," Orion delivered the news with a clinical precision that did little to mask the seriousness of Rylee's condition.

"DAMMIT. What about my parents?! Are they safe? Were they attacked?" Wesley's worry extended beyond his sister, encompassing the safety of his entire family, the cornerstone of his world.

[Orion] "No sir, they are safe and currently with Rylee at the hospital," Orion assured, providing a sliver of relief amidst the turmoil.

A momentary sigh escaped Wesley, a brief respite in the storm of his emotions. "Whew, that is a relief," he acknowledged, the knowledge that his parents were unharmed bringing a modicum of comfort.

Yet, the relief was short-lived, overshadowed by the resolve that took hold. "Orion, we need to bring Rylee here. With the Healing Tanks on the island, we might be able to aid her recovery and perhaps awaken her from the coma. It's also time we offer genetic enhancements to the family, fortifying our defenses against any future threats. I refuse to let such an incident recur," Wesley declared, his tone resolute, tinged with a grim determination. His hands clenched tightly, a physical manifestation of his inner turmoil and the unwavering resolve to protect his loved ones.

[Orion] "Yes, sir. I will inform your parents immediately and coordinate with the hospital staff to facilitate your sister's transfer from the hospital to the island," Orion responded, springing into action, ready to execute Wesley's directives and contribute to the safety and recovery of his sister.

In that moment, Wesley stood at a crossroads, faced with the daunting task of navigating the consequences of his actions and the actions of those around him. The path ahead was fraught with challenges, but with resolve as his compass, he was prepared to confront whatever lay ahead, for the sake of his family's safety and well-being.

Immediately thinking of what to do next, Wesley picked up his phone. As Wesley's fingers raced across his phone to dial Sophia, his mind was a whirlwind of rage and determination. The moment she picked up, her voice brimming with excitement and gratitude, Wesley's anger only intensified.

"Hello, Wesley I got good news. I am now the head of the family. Thank you!" Sophia's words were filled with a triumphant joy that quickly soured in Wesley's ears.

"I know. However, because of the incident, your fucking sister and step-mother tried to kill my sister, and she is currently in a coma. I am merely stating what is now about to occur," Wesley's voice was ice-cold, his words sharp and imbued with a depth of anger that made Sophia's heart skip a beat.

"THEY WHAT?!" The shock in Sophia's voice was palpable, her previous elation evaporating as the gravity of Wesley's words sunk in. The thought that her own flesh and blood could stoop to such malevolence was unthinkable.

"Now that you are the head, I want you to destroy both your step-mother and sister economically, and then and only then, will I kill them. While I have nothing against you, Sophia, and your overall family, I will stop at nothing to tear down those who have threatened my family. I will provide you with an advanced AI who will help you. His name is Kubera. He will be a great assistance. Do not disappoint," Wesley's ultimatum was clear, his voice a blend of fury and control, a chilling promise of retribution.

Sophia was silent for a moment, processing the enormity of the situation. "I understand. I will take care of my part. That I can promise," she responded, her voice tinged with a mix of sadness and resolve. The realization that her family, once a symbol of unity and strength, had descended into chaos and betrayal weighed heavily on her heart.

Without wasting a moment, Sophia summoned her assistant, her mind set on fulfilling her part of the bargain. With Kubera's assistance, the days that followed were a maelstrom of economic warfare. Sophia, guided by the AI's unparalleled strategic prowess, systematically dismantled her step-mother and sister's financial foundations. Investments that once seemed unshakeable crumbled under their orchestrated attacks, bleeding value with every passing day.

As the week progressed, the results were undeniable. Sophia's sister and step-mother watched helplessly as their economic power was eroded, leaving them teetering on the brink of financial ruin. Their once formidable assets were reduced to mere shadows, leaving them with nothing but their physical possessions and a growing sense of desperation.

The swift and merciless execution of Sophia's strategy was a testament to her newfound authority and Wesley's unyielding determination to protect his family. In the shadow of their collective resolve, the traitors within Sophia's family found themselves isolated and powerless, their treachery repaid in kind. For Wesley, the satisfaction of seeing justice served was only tempered by the knowledge that the battle was far from over. His sister's condition remained a constant reminder of the stakes, fueling his resolve to see this vendetta through to its bitter end.

During the week of Madam Alastair and Aurora's economic descent, Rylee arrived at the Island and was promptly moved to the medical room, which has had a tremendous transformation from the original. The original room had a medical bed, some IV equipment and various monitors. However, now the room was extremely pristine and clean, in the back of the room in the middle, was a 10 ft tall tank, filled with a light blue glowing liquid, with various pipes connecting to the bottom of the tank. Around the room were various monitors and displays, showing data on energy levels, the liquid and the patient inside. Once Rylee was in the tank, her body floated in the tank, slowly healing her body. Once her body is fully healed they will begin the genetic improvements that would strengthen her overall body.

[Orion] "Sir based on the data we are receiving from the pod she should awake from her coma in the next week, then afterwards, we can start the genetic improvements. We can also go ahead and begin you and your parents' genetic improvements as well." Orion said in a calm demeanor as he was focused on the data before him, wanting to be as best of service to Wesley as possible.

"Okay good, go ahead and keep me updated on Rylee's condition. I am going to talk to my parents about the future and how all of this occurred. They have been wanting answers and I need to discuss with them everything." Wesley said with a sense of relief regarding Rylee, however letting out a sigh in realization of the overall stress and overwhelming emotional rollercoaster he has been on recently. 'I was naive….' Wesley thought of the actions committed by Aurora and her mother. 'No matter who or when, these types of situations will arise, alongside the fact that more chaos will ensue soon. I need to steady myself for the rough waters ahead."

Wesley slapped his face lightly, setting in the commitment to be a rock through the chaotic times that were about to occur from both his actions and others as well.
