Combat exercise (phase three)

Alpha and the rest of the pilots returned from the citadel mess hall as they returned to formation in the docking bay. The instructor returned a few minutes after them, upon entering the docking bay he headed to the front of the pilots and gave the brief on the third phase of the combat exercise. "Ok, I along with your other instructors finally decided on your phase three, since you have proved to be comfortable controlling your various ships through defensive and offensive situations, we have decided to see how you fair against multiple enemies, in this test you will be assigned five automated shuttles each to take down, there is no time limit and you can use any method to take them down including forming an alliance. More information will be provided to you via your ship assistant. Good luck." The instructor said. With that the pilots went into their various ships as they pulled out of the docking bay into the expanse of space.

105 type D shuttles were released from the citadel into the space around it as they quickly locked onto the 21 different ships, five shuttles per ship. The pilots started opening communication channels with people they wanted to ally with which were mostly the ships with defensive capabilities contacting ships with offensive capabilities. In all everyone joined an alliance, all apart from alpha, the ten second countdown started and as it ended the shuttles began their attacks while information on the shuttles were released from the assistants to the system.

Reading the information received all pilots started to take action. The defense ships would distract the shuttles while the offense ships shot them down. The way to complete this phase is to take down five shuttles so the offense would usually let the other ships destroy some shuttles as they slowly completed the third phase of training.

Alpha took a different approach, he flew in a straight line for approximately three minutes which was equivalent to one ship mile, then turning the ship around he flew back at the five shuttles that followed him, he had 1 minute 7.5 seconds before colliding with the shuttles, he flew forward for forty-five seconds during which he had fire ten total Lazer blasts and had managed to take down two shuttles as he targeted them very well and planted five shots each, each shot consuming 1 energy point from his supply. His ship wasn't untouched as he had been flying in the same direction both away and towards the shuttles, going away from the shuttles his ship was hit a total of thirty times, then returning towards the shuttles he was a total of ten more times as he took down two shuttles so his hull capacity was not looking good.

After flying for forty-five seconds he controlled the ship to dive down and went down for five seconds. With such a small distance made from his original position he was able to quickly turn the ship and destroyed another shuttle before he started flying in a straight line, he then changed tactics a little as he started flying around the shuttles causing them to keep rotating, trying to aim at him, their movements looked similar to a wheel but Alpha's ship was slowly closing the gap between him and the last two shuttles. After some time of spinning Alpha's ship had gotten close enough to the shuttles to execute his plan, he went around them for one last round before stopping abruptly and flying his ship through a small gap between the shuttles slamming the sides of his ship into the shuttles. his plan worked as the speed and force the ship used to fly through was enough to fling both shuttles in opposite directions while stealing 60 points from the hull capacity, his ship then payed it's own price as he lost 100 hull capacity points. Alpha then quickly flew after one of the shuttles, it turns out the shuttle spinning out of control allowed it a better chance of dodging attacks, alas alpha just spammed his blaster until he managed to land two shots and destroyed the shuttle. Turning around he started flying after the second shuttle, after being flung in the direction it was flung in the shuttle had been trying to stabilize it's and at this moment it had been able to do just that, turning itself in the direction it came from it was about to fly in that direction until, boom, it exploded as Alpha used two well placed shots. "Argh, am beat, I hope there are no more challenges today." Alpha said as he started flying in the direction of the citadel as he saw that all the other ships were already done and docked. "How much time did I waste?" Alpha asked seemingly no one as he wasn't expecting an answer. "You spent approximately ten minutes seven seconds on phase three captain." Beta replied. "Thanks for being helpful." Alpha said sarcastically as he was a little annoyed. "You are welcome captain." Beta replied. "I never learn." He said before continuing to the citadel's docking bay in silence. He quickly docked his ship and went to join the formation that the pilots had been using since the beginning of their training.

"Well, it seems you all did very well today pilots, I can see most of you are tired so you can rest for today, tomorrow you all will be doing a team mission together, something happened not too far away from the citadel so you will be sent to the location with different tasks each, there are also reward crates left near the mission area by battleship Epsilon, they are filled with a combination of different types of resources that will help in the upgrade and improvement of your various ships, only those who complete their tasks can receive their rewards." The instructor said. "Excuse me, sir." One pilot lifted their hand. "You have a question, go on ask." The instructor said. "Why was battleship Epsilon in the place we would be taking our mission?" The pilot asked. That's when the instructor realized that he had accidentally told them about the battleship being deployed. "Oh, it's nothing at all, don't worry about it, if there are no further questions then you are dismissed." The instructor said as everyone left the docking bay to do various things in various parts of the citadel.
