Kayleb's Pov

M. Aiden: Don't forget to evade or block Kayleb! Offense is nothing without defense, and while you have an incredible offensive style, your defensive form is subpar at best. In a real fight there are no second chances, if you're caught with your guard down, you're dead and that's it. Your assignment this weekend is to work on your defense. I better see an improvement the next time we're in this training room. Is that understood?

Kay: Yes Master Aiden. I understand.

M. Aiden: Good! We're done for the day. For what it was, you did well. Your skill with your dual swords resembles your mother's, which is impressive. Although you're not as skilled as her yet, you're still young and have lots of room for improvement. But like I said, you have to wor-

Kay: Work on my defense, I get it!...I do have a question though.

M. Aiden: What is it?

Kay: Sometime next week, can we work on vita training?

M. Aiden: Sorry Kayleb, but we're not doing vita training until I see improvements in your defense.

Kay: Aww what?! That's not fair!

M. Aiden: It's very fair...maybe this will help you understand the importance of defense. Now go ahead and enjoy the rest of your day.

Kay: Fine...I'll see you in a couple of days.

I was preparing to leave the room so I could go take a shower when I saw the sudden change in the sky through the window. It went from its normal peachy pink to a much darker gray.

Kay: Hey, Master Aiden. Is it supposed to rain today?

M. Aiden: No. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be partly cloudy. You know we don't get rain in autumn. If you want to go outside and play, just go.

Kay: That's not it, Look out the window. I don't think it's supposed to be that dark this time of morning.

M. Aiden: It's probably just an eclipse, nothing to get worked up about. Maybe instead of staring out of the window, you go take a shower and study after you're done, huh? How does that sound? Matter of fact, forget about playing outside. Anyway, in the meantime, I'll be speaking with your father after his meeting to let him know that you're improving, but not focused on what needs to be done.

As Master had finished speaking, my father rushed into the room. The expression on his face was something I've never seen before. He wasn't angry, nor was he upset, but more as if he was scared. My father told me that the number one thing was to fear no man. So seeing him so frantic really made me start to question what was happening.

M. Aiden: Good morning my lord. We had just finished training not too long ago. I-

Jon: Sorry to cut you off Aiden but this is urgent. Kayleb we need to go now!

Kay: Uhh...yea, let me go take a shower really quick. I'll come see you when I'm done.

Jon: There is no time!

My father grabbed my wrist and pulled me along with him. As we were rushing through the dark hallways, I could just barely see the maids and butlers scurrying around in panic. As we got to the other end of the hallway, I heard my two aunts Sylaria and Aruna arguing in a nearby room.

At this point all I felt was confusion. For the past four hours, things were completely calm and quiet. What happened for all of this chaos to erupt? We continued to rush through the mansion and made it to the backdoor, and from there made our way onto the courtyard. I looked up into the sky and it felt like my heart had sunk into my stomach.

A giant black spaceship was floating in the clouds above our home. The fear grew inside me when I remembered that this was the year of conquerors. I took a deep breath in an attempt to calm myself. I looked at my father and started to wonder if this would be the last time I'd see him. The last time I'd see my family, my friends, my master, the maids and butlers. I wondered if this was the end of my home. The end of Galatalia.
