I pace outside my bedroom, feeling anxious by the second, my right hand flicking my lighter open and close while I hold a handgun loosely with my left. The doctor had gone inside to check on Riri not too long before I arrived.

Enzo and Jax lean against the wall, waiting quietly, their expression dark. Celia stands near the door, wringing her hands in worry.

I and Jax were in a meeting at Steel Construction when I received a phone call from Enzo who was driving back home. His voice was distraught as he told me what happened to Riri. I felt my blood draining before it boiled and I was ready to blow up. I dismissed the meeting and we went straight home, speeding through the traffic.
