"I don't know how you guys work for him, he scares the shit out of me."

The statement catches my attention and I glance over my shoulder to see a teenager, wearing a sweatshirt, jeans, and a bonnet, talking to Carmelo and Raul. They chuckle at his comment and slap his back.

"You'll get used to it, kid," says Raul, "You'll be thankful you're working for him and not the old man in the shitter. Boss is a little intense when he's working—"

"A little intense? He's bat-shit crazy! He didn't even question the guy, he barely spoke three words and just shot him point blank between the eyes!"

I'm pretty sure they're talking about Mariano. There's only one boss in this household. Was that where he was last night when he left? He was out shooting people? That doesn't surprise me, really. After all, I grew up in the same environment. But we don't talk about it, so I didn't know where he was.
