We move to the small dining table by the window to the right of the kitchen. I take the banquette bench with the window to my back while Riri takes the seat across from me. But she springs back to her feet, saying she'll go get something and will be right back.
Out of habit, I check the window and see my men in their stations, guns tucked in their jeans or slung over their shoulders. It's cloudy this afternoon, the sun hiding in the sky. It's still a bit chilly outside, but at least it's not snowing. I hope spring will come faster this year.
One of my guards walks by the window, his head bent and his attention on his phone, a grin filling his face. He glances up and meets my glare which stops him in his tracks. He must be surprised to see me here because I rarely sit at this table. I don't say anything, but judging by the blood draining his face, he's about to piss his pants for having been caught dicking around his phone while on duty.
