Mariano didn't explore my lady bits under the table like I thought he would—though I wonder if he would have had Mr. Henkel not call his attention and talked about a project he was looking forward to starting as soon as he was inaugurated as Chicago's newest Mayor. But Mariano didn't remove his hand from my thigh, which kept me warm the rest of the night.

"That was such an excellent dinner. I've been wanting Karl to bring me here, but this man is always busy since the campaign. Honestly, I don't think he would've eaten dinner with me tonight if it wasn't for you two," says Meredith as we head out the door.

Her husband shakes his head. "Mer, don't start now."

"What? I'm just saying." She shrugs and then turns to me. "Gabriella, dear, are you free Saturday? The girls and I are going wine tasting at the newly opened wine and cheese shop near Andersonville. You should join us."
