Chapter 40 - Gabriella (2)

Tonight is Mayor Henkel's victory party. The last time I went to his party last month, I was a ball of nerves. I'm used to attending social functions growing up due to my family being connected to many important people in New York, but I was familiar with the attendees there.

Here, however, Chicagoans are foreign to me. I had to learn who's who, and I still am. Whenever I feel like it, I do some light research on the families that Mariano mentioned to me. It's best to be prepared just in case. Tonight, I'll see the same people again and more. 

I'm wearing Mrs. Henkel's design again. A forest green one-shoulder silk cocktail dress, leaving my left shoulder bare while my right has a loose long sleeve. The dress wraps around my midsection and gathers on the side. It's comfortable and classy. I kept my feet light with a pair of slim gold heels that made me even taller; though Mariano is still taller than me.
