In an effort to instill empathy in her before its too late, Gabriela has been sent to earth to live amongst humans, with her abilities sealed. Chapter Eight

It was indeed too much to ask for, he realized this as she rolled away from his knife. It landed a good distance away but still much closer to her than it was to himself. While he had confidence in his speed, he didn't really want to risk that she might get her hands on something sharp. Though she likely wouldn't enjoy the feel of a demon blade in her hand, he didn't think the weakness of that particular one would deter her enough to drop it again.

He gave a quick look left and right, checking their surroundings once more. The onlookers had moved back quite a bit, several had phones held up in their hands pointed in their direction (if he became some viral internet video he swore to God the angel would pay somehow), but what really caught his attention was the dark clothing, the heavy jostling sounds… He squinted his eyes closer as they narrowed focus on… a gun at the figure's hip.

The police were coming.

But through all of this observation he'd been just a little too distracted. He kept the angel in his sights, somehow able to dodge her attacks even with as much ferocity as she was obviously putting behind each strike, but with his mind on everything else, he somehow forgot that he was supposed to be getting her away from the knife.

But even as she broke off from him and lunged at the knife, Rennyn realized that everything was now completely okay. The police, hero of the people! He never thought he'd actually be relieved to see one, but he knew that there was likely no getting out of this for him either. No doubt the idiots around them had recorded him throwing the knife at his attacker. Even if it was in self defense, it didn't look good.

"You should — " he started to warn, because ideally they would both run away, lose each other, and Rennyn would have more time to think out a strategy, but he was interrupted before he could finish.

"Stop!" a rough male voice called out, and Rennyn immediately held up his hands and stopped moving. If the angel wanted the opportunity to kill him, she could take it. But, well, it'd probably take a lot more than a small demon blade to kill him anyways.

He grinned at her now, since his back was turned to the policeman that approached them, as if to say try it.
