Celebrating National Depression

What better way to raise awareness about an issue than to mock it? Throughout history, people have used humor and sarcasm to get others to see the plight and injustice in their situation. From Johnathan Swift's 𝘈 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘢𝘭 to Thomas Nast's political cartoons of Boss Tweed and the Tammany Hall to US magazine, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘖𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘯, and The Daily Show, satire has been used to bring awareness to issues that most people would ignore otherwise.

Satire is extremely powerful, influential enough to overthrow people in power. Otpor, a Serbian civic protest group, organized a celebration of national depression to help bring light to the injustices of many Serbian authorities.
