Screw Up!

It had been 3 days since Shaun and Horus learnt about the safe house. Horus got the report down, got Sam's approval and with the help of Mason, Paolo was arrested. Everything had gone according to plan. Tomorrow, Shaun and Horus were gonna visit the safe house. The plan was clear, they would sneak in through an opening, scout around and depending upon the number of people, they'd kill everyone. Horus was really excited about this, while Shaun kept feeling a strange sensation in his gut. He felt that something is wrong, they must've missed something.

Shaun decided to go home for now, maybe he's just tired, also it had been a while since he saw Mary. Shaun reached home sometime around 17:15, he headed to his room to freshen up. Once he was done, Shaun called for Mary, "Mary? Are you there??", a faint sound seemed to be coming from her bedroom. Shaun went to check it out and as he entered the room, he saw that Mary was asleep, but she looked pale. Mary must have been working over time, though she didn't have to, Shaun couldn't think of a reason for her to go to so much trouble. Mary shifted around the bed, to reveal a diamond ring! James had proposed to her.

Shaun didn't want to wake Mary up, but he figured out that she must be working to buy the wedding dress. He found a wedding catalogue on the table, and there was a dress which had been circled. It cost around 45,000$. Shaun whistled, Mary had set the bar quite high for herself. He wanted to help her, as she has been there for him ever since he came to New York. Shaun had saved up some money from both his previous job and his new job, but both together amount up-to 12,783$, nowhere near the cost of the dress. He had to come up with something, but what was the question that lingered in his mind as he went upstairs to his room. He laid still on the bed, remembering all the things he had gone through. Mary was more of a family than his real one, and now she was finally getting a chance to be happy. Shaun decided that he shall get his hands on some money during his next adventure with Horus. Sun peeked through the window upon Shaun who was wide awake, probably all night, he wasn't sure. He headed downstairs, Mary was already up and preparing breakfast, she was humming again. "Morning, Mary", said Shaun as he approached her slowly, "Oh Shaun! Morning!!", Shaun sat down with some toast and coffee. "Congrats Mary, I see the ring, I'm happy for you", Mary smiled, "Thank you Shaun, I'm really excited about it", Shaun felt that she was trying to hold something back, he took a guess and said, "Oh by the way, I'll move out soon, you guys might want to live together right, that way going over the wedding plan will be easier", Mary quickly turned around, she almost teared up, "Oh Shaun! Thank you for understanding, I'll do everything I can to help you find a new place". Shaun got up, taking his place to the sink, "Don't worry about me, you have much more important stuff to do, in fact if there's anything I can do for you, just let me know". Shaun headed out, he had asked Horus to find the blueprint of the safe house from the archives, they needed to find an entry point quickly. He entered the Daily planet building, when he heard someone calling for him, he turned to see it was Sam. "Shaun, I wanted to ask you how is the research on Alamo case going? Find any clues? ", Shaun nodded, bringing out a file from his bag, "I narrowed down the areas where they abducted the girls the most, and depending upon the fact that they would abducted in areas away from where they are hiding, I might be able to pin point their hiding spot, considering they are still here", Sam nodded and asked for a copy of his research and left. Shaun headed upstairs towards his cubicle where Horus was waiting with the blueprints. Judging from the blueprint there were two easy entry points, one through the parking area and the other was a backdoor which is shown to be closed as it is in a narrow alley. Horus wanted to take the backdoor, Shaun shook his head, if this really was a safe house then he thought that the easy entry points would be guarded all the time. They needed to find an innovative way to get in, and there was one. "Okay, you see this garbage disposal chute, we are gonna climb up to get in", said Shaun. Horus chuckled while he nodded agreeing. Now the plan was set, at night fall Shaun put on black clothes, leather gloves, equipped his knives and was ready to go. He and Horus met half way and headed towards the theatre. It was around 1:30 am, they reached the south end of the theatre, this was where the parking space was. Just as Shaun had predicted, they could see men covering the parking entrance. He and Horus circled around towards the garbage bin and they could see the chute, running up to first floor. Now Shaun and Horus had been accustomed to working in dark, they could see clearly. Horus stood guard while Shaun climbed up the chute. He had amazing grip, he climbed up quite fast. Shaun climbed in to the first floor, leading into a dark passage. Horus followed, dusting off the cobweb. They could see a light down the passage, they approached cautiously, making little to no sound. "Cosa faremo? Quel bastardo Paolo è stato arrestato!", Shaun glanced towards Horus and nodded, both of them took out their knives and headed towards the voices. There were 5 people inside, and counting the two guards at each entry point, totally there were 9 people. Time to get to work, Shaun and Horus split up, Shaun headed right and Horus went left. Shaun hid behind the row of seats, and headed towards them little by little. Where as Horus circle back and found a way to approach them from behind. Shaun was now close enough to attack, he breathing became steady and calm as he waited for Horus to get in position. Horus got in position and signaled Shaun with a nod. It's going down now!

Everything happened in a flash, there wasn't any screams, in an instant, five lifeless bodies fell. Horus had whistled at the moment of attack, which got the attention of the Italians, at this moment Shaun sprung in to cleanly slash up two of them, whilst these two dead bodies fell to the ground, the other three faced Shaun in panic. Horus now attacked Two of them, piercing one's heart and splitting the other's skull with his military grade blade. Shaun and Horus struck the last one in the throat and the heart, and the only sound that ever escaped was the light *thump* of the collapsing bodies. Shaun and Horus grinned at each other, Shaun now looked around for the money, he found a stack in one of their bags, seemed to be around 50,000$. Nice.

Suddenly sirens sounded outside and then a voice was heard, "THIS IS THE POLICE.YOU ARE COMPLETELY SURROUNDED, SURRENDER NOW. I'M MASON SPENCER, SURRENDER NOW AND NO ONE GETS HURT".

This couldn't be any worse, thought Shaun. He screwed up!
