Confrontation.

It's been three days since Shaun received the letter along with the key chain. Shaun was worried in the beginning that he had been found out, but once he got time to think about it, he felt an idea form, a trap actually. Shaun was a smart guy, not only when it came to killing but he had a variety of skills, one of them were compartmentalizing his emotions. Shaun rarely felt anything, he was purely what someone would call a clinical psychopath. Shaun hadn't realized what he was until the night when he had his first kill, Sid Ohera. Shaun had improved greatly regarding the use of his abilities, among which staying calm and rational was one. Shaun smiled as he sat on his bed, he hadn't felt this kind of thrill, excitement in a long while. "This may rather prove to be interesting", thought Shaun. First he had to identify who sent this envelope, then he had to come up with a plan to get rid of the target. Let the hunting begin.

May 21st 2019, Shaun went to work as usual but he kept an eye out for something suspicious. The work was as usual, normal flooding of customers, cleaning and brewing. Throughout the day Shaun seemed to be lost in his thoughts, to the point where he even got a lecture about focusing from George. Shaun left work and walked home, thinking about what to do. Even though a plan had been forming, he wasn't getting the clarity. He needed a solid, fool proof plan to track this mysterious character, who by the way had already figured out who 'Θ' was.

Next day Shaun woke up as usual, went downstairs for breakfast. Mary was back, "Good morning dear, I've made pancakes today, help yourself". Shaun smiled weakly, he sat down at the table and as he was about to dig into the pancakes when something caught his attention. It was the newspaper with a murder report. He opened the paper to read the article. The person who was murdered this time was Jill Adams, Shaun's first "client" during his tweeter hunting. There was a message at the crime scene, "Next I'm going at someone close to you Mr. Θ". Shaun looked up at Mary, who was humming and making coffee. He had to move soon, or else its going to be too late. He decided to check out the crime scene where Jill Adams was killed. He reached there somewhere around 11:30 am. As he walked towards the scene a strong arm caught him by the shoulders from behind. Looking back it was Mason, "Hey, what are you doing here?", Shaun held up his phone, "Here to take some pictures, videos and to interview some police officers". Mason shook his head and smiled, "You have taken this Journalism thing really seriously huh...", Shaun nodded. "Fine then, follow me, I can't really allow you to visit the crime scene, but you can interview some cops outside", saying this Mason walked towards some of his colleagues. Shaun took out his notepad and pen, approached the police and started asking strategic but careful questions. "Tell me officer, do you think this is the same killer who killed Olive Peyton?", the officer nodded and confirmed that the attack pattern and the M.O. matches the previous case. "So do you think we have a serial killer in New York?", Mason stepped in here, "There's only been two killings, its too much of a leap to consider this as a serial killer. For all we know these two women might know each other and there must be some kind of link". Shaun noted this down, well he pretended to do so. "Last question Mason, what do think of the message and who is this Mr. Θ?", this was a question to see how much the police knew, but seeing Mason looking clueless, Shaun was relieved. Next was to find this guy, Shaun tried to remember if he made any enemies who might be watching him but he couldn't remember anybody. He had to think of something quick, he knew he didn't have much time left.

He went home and Mary was waiting for him, as he entered she ran to him, "Shaun!!", he noticed that she was really upset, "Hey, calm down, tell me what happened?". Mary took deep breaths to calm herself and then she said, "Today on my way back I had a feeling that someone was following me, so I circled around the block to see if that was true. I saw someone make the exact same turns I did, so I ran, caught a subway and came back by bus and I have been in the house ever since! What's going on!?", it was just as Shaun feared, they went after Mary. "Mary, can you recall anything, any description of this man who followed you?", Mary closed her eyes trying to remember and that's when it came to her, "Yes!! He had a tattoo on his hand, it was an eye, that Egypt god thing!", Shaun sat up straight, "Horus??", Mary nodded. This is it, thought Shaun, now he had some way of identifying his enemy, all he needed was a trap. Shaun later that night slipped out through the back door. He was wearing a black hoodie, his usual uniform, apparently. He went to the police station carrying some spray paint with him, he intended to write a message on the wall of the station. The message said, "BRING IT ON - MR. Θ". Now all he had to do was to wait for the guy to attack him.

Things don't usually go as planned, surprisingly even for Shaun. It had been quite a while after he wrote that message and the only thing that accomplished was that the police were now looking for some graffiti artist. Disappointed and out of ideas Shaun had been just going about the day. Around afternoon at work, he got a call on the landline of the shop, assuming it was for an order Shaun picked up, "Hello, Choco n' Mocha here, how can I help you?", there was a pause and then a voice answered, " Hello Mr. Θ, how is business going?". Shaun quickly looked around to see if the caller was inside the cafe or anywhere near it, observing him. "What should I call you? I mean you got my attention, so how shall I address you?", the caller seemed to chuckling, "I know your landlady Mary Kay, lovely woman by the way, told you about the Horus symbol. So call me Horus", Shaun - "Well Mr. Horus, what do you want?", Horus - "Nothing much, I've been bored for a while and I have been intrigued by your work, I only wish to form a friendship, that's all", Shaun - "Forgive me for not believing you, given you have been spreading challenging quotes for me with bodies", Horus - "Well friends can be rivals don't you think? Anyhow, lets meet shall we, after work come to Lincoln street, route 78 & 80. I look forward to see you". This was not good, not only did Horus not attack Shaun but the meeting was being dictated under his terms, there was no way for Shaun to be prepared for the situation. Shaun still decided to go, for this might be the only chance he may get to meet Horus. Little after work Shaun cleaned up and started heading to the address mentioned. Once he reached there, he looked around, no one was to be seen. Just when Shaun was about to leave, "Well now, don't you think its rude to leave without meeting the person who invited you?", the voice echoed from behind, Shaun turned around to look at a guy about his age standing at the corner, "Hi, I'm Horus, I called you here for a reason", Shaun thought this might end up in a fistfight so he clenched his fists, ready to strike when Horus spoke, "I want to hire you for a job", Shaun stood there, confused whether he heard right then he smiled, "You are a weird man Mr. Horus but why me?", "I've heard a rumor of a red eyed devil around the city and was wondering if it was you". Shaun smiled and looked Horus in the eye, and Horus's face became pale as he stared at Shaun's blood red eyes.

"You wanted friendship, you have it, but beware who you are befriending", said Shaun. The night was cold, the moon was full, and a dangerous alliance was formed under the moonlight.

I shall be starting an arc linked with this chapter, hence the delay. Hope you enjoy this chapter and look forward for the next one.
