Chapter 45

In a three-story industrial building with bricks as both interior and exterior walls, one man sat alone in the row of five computers. Only one computer didn't have a keyboard, while the rest had personalized keyboards to fit the people who sat there.

His character, a human with vibrant red hair, sat in the same spot that Frost had earlier and the same assassin that had sat next to Frost was now accompanying him.

[Midnight]: Why did you come back?

The man tapped on the keyboard lightly for just a moment before replying.

[Flame]: I wanted to see what he was looking at.

'What was he looking at before he said those words?'

Both men sat silently for a few moments, but Chen Qiang's mind was racing with thoughts as he stared off the edge of the island at the maps below him.

They'd discovered this together.

[Midnight]: That's not what I meant. Why did you come back here? This account, this island… Moon's announcement, the witch hunt… Why are you guys hunting him down?

[Midnight]: He disappeared because he wanted to.

Chen Qiang's brows furrowed as he read the messages. Not because they were wrong, but because this random guild leader was right.

[Flame]: We want him back.

In a dark apartment, one man with a black T-shirt on snorted. "Lies."

[Midnight]: You did all this to get him back? Do you think your fans will accept him once he's back?

In front of the man were two screens. One was showcasing the game while the other screen had two pages pulled up side by side.

A forum post with the rundown of the entire 'Team X' situation was pinned to the top of the forum and even though the situation had died down a lot since Moon's speech at Worlds, 4 of the 10 posts on the first page were about Frost.

On the other tab, Frost was trending once more due to his posts the other night. People wondering if he'd become an alcoholic, people wishing he'd get beaten, others wondering if anyone saw someone with blue eyes at a bar…

All in all, there was a hate campaign against Frost.

If these people had any level of respect for him, they wouldn't have brought the situation back into the eyes of the public.

Midnight had searched the situation after meeting Frost. After reading the rundown, he wasn't sure why no one questioned the situation.

Perhaps it was because the others were just too naive but no company would just void the contracts of five world championship players, especially not the current title holders. If the company was low enough on funds to collude with Frost and steal the player's money, then the best decision would have been to sell the contracts in a bid.

If Frost did steal, why was he asking acquaintances for a place to stay?

After a moment of no response from Chen Qiang, the man typed once more.

[Midnight]: You say that he stole from you, how much?

Chen Qiang froze.

How much? He couldn't answer. The only reason that they knew he stole from them was because Xiao Yi had told them himself.

[Flame]: I don't know.

[Midnight]: Do you want to know?

Chen Qiang frowned but typed back an affirmative.

He too, wanted to understand the situation. Why did he do it? Why did he say those words?

[Midnight]: Send your bank deposit statements and contract to [redacted].
