67 Issue #.5

Bean let out a torrent of fire from its mouth to deter the large creature but it did little more than buy a few seconds. This large beast came out of nowhere with many others similar to it and began attacking the Pet Avengers that were out on a training mission. The beast was able to quickly regenerate from the damage he was inflicting on it.

Goose picked up the large creature with several tentacles before tearing it apart and eating it whole. He then looked around and saw that there were still 3 more of those creatures remaining.

Each of these creatures looked like a grey chimera of humans, wolves, dragons, and aliens. Their large bodies easily dwarfed all of the Pet Avengers but the little guys had managed to take out over 6 of their members.

{Tsk. Throg! Where are you? We need the thunder!}

Throg had gone off to fight the Alpha of this pack of unusual animals. He purposely led it away so the aftershock and residual damage from their battle would not harm the others.

{This foe is mighty! My blows barely affect the flesh beneath the scales. More moments to slay it, I require.}

'We don't have that much time though.'

This was the Pet Avengers' first true mission and they were struggling. Lockjaw and Redwing weren't present while Jeff the shark was injured in the initial attack. Bean and Goose were also starting to tire out so they needed a miracle in order to survive.

The last of their attackers began to charge at the trio. Goose was about to unleash a wave of tentacles when he heard a loud roar from the side.

Both the Pet Avengers and their enemies stopped to see who the newcomer was. All of them were surprised to see a large, red T-Rex. Before anyone could comprehend what was happening, the dinosaur charged over and began tearing into the creatures attacking the Pet Avengers. Before Goose and Bean knew it, the battle was already over.

Goose immediately went on guard against the newcomer but it seemed that his two allies didn't. The injured Jeff and tired Bean waddled over to the dinosaur and greeted him.

{Hi! I'm Bean!}

{I'm Jeff!}

The large creature looked at the pair with an unusual trace of intelligence in his eyes.

{Hello, there. My name is Devil but I have also been called Devil Dinosaur.}

{That's so cool! You're so big!} Bean circled around one of Devil's paws(?)

{Can we ride on your back?} Jeff asked, his injuries already starting to heal

Goose wanted to reprimand the pair but before he could, he saw Devil lower his head and open his mouth. Thinking he was about to eat his comrades, Goose got ready to attack. But he was once again surprised. Instead of eating them, Devil grabbed the two by their napes before placing them on his back.

Goose felt his mind go numb at this scene. If not for the blood all over the face of Devil, the face of Devil, and the corpses all around them, Goose may have felt that this was a heartwarming scene.

A few seconds later, Throg appeared with a thunderclap. Standing next to Goose, the frog looked confused as he gazed at the scene in front of him before he smiled.

{Ah! A new comrade! We shall vanquish armies and fill Hel with the cries of our enemies with him on our side!}
