Leea and Ms.Wells

"Ms.Wells?" Mom's doctor called me.

"Umm... I'm Leea Pham." I was thinking of changing my last name for a while now.

"I apologize. Can we talk about your mom real quick?"

"Yes, of course..." I tucked my hair behind my ears and crossed arm "Go ahead, Leo."

"See you inside." Leo said

"When she arrived at the hospital, the other man told us about what happened at the diner. Apparently when she collapsed, and hit her head down the floor and lost a decent amount of blood."

"Are you asking my blood type?"

"No, I was saying we examine the blood and we found out she has white blood cancer."

"How long has it been there?" Trying to be calm as possible when I asked.

"For the record, it is still new."

"Did you announce this to my mom yet?"

"No, I tried to and that man said that I should ask you first. I wasn't planning to tell you either, but he forced me too." Why would Fred want me know?

"Will the medication for the white blood cancer affective at this rate?"

"Yes. Actually, this is the best rate to start taking the medication."

"Ok, I'll tell her about this. And the cost for the medication?"

"The one that was with your mom already paid for it."

"No. I asked the cost."

"$35,202" I'll start working to pay Fred back.

"All right. Thank you."

I was walking back to mom's room and saw Fred stepping out.

"Why did you do that?"

"What are you talking about, Leea?"

"Why did you pay for mom's bill? Are we that pitiful?..." I tried to not overreact "ok, I get it. Dad is longer with us and you want to help us out but why this way? I am old enough to get a job and work my butt off to pay the bill."

"No, Leea. You got it all wrong. I wasn't pity you guys. I paid those bills for you to ask you a favor."

"me?"

"You see, I am a chairman of a big company. My wife died, and I have no one to take over the company after I passed away so I want you to study stock management to take over my company. What do you think?"

"I'm sorry but don't you have a child?"

"My child is also gone when my wife gave birth to him."

"I'm sorry. But I really wanted to become a therapist."

"Then I guess I have to find another person to take over."

"Wait. I said I wanted to become a therapist but I would give stock manager a shot."

"Thank you, Leea. I really think you should could do it."

"Even though I give stock management a shot doesn't mean that I won't repay you." I was taught not to owe anyone anything.

"You are her stubborn. And I like that. Ya know what, kiddo? Do whatever you like. You are still young, give it all you got." He started to walk toward the exit door.

"Drive safe." I waved with my casted arm.

"Be careful." He waved back without looking back.

I talked to mom about her cancer and she said she will accept the medication. I was happy and worried at the same time. She pulled the tough act all the time, so I'm not sure what to do or what to say anymore. I told her that Fred paid the bills for her and how I'm gonna repay him and how he offered he a job. Now, she genuinely smile. I told Darcy and Leo to go back and I will stay with my mom.

I watch mom fell asleep and I drew until midnight. I am a secret designer for a small clothing store. It's not a clothing store, it's actually a merch store. We drew and design the best product for each customer who wanted merch just by hearing their story. I got a decent pay from it.

I couldn't sleep at all that night so I just finish off my work and watch the sunrise off the hospital window. I'm actually a sunset fan. I like it better if the day ends than start. I waited until mom awake and called Dad to pick me up.

I was really tired and exhausted but it was worth watching mom sleep. She is so beautiful as always.

Now I have to figure out a way to say sorry to Iris.
