CHAPTER 19

* Now I can put aside planning chakra control training for a while, I have everything I need. – Yuske wanted to start with the practice of sticking leaves to different parts of his body using chakra. Only after that was he going to slowly switch to walking on vertical surfaces, which in his case was more likely to be walking on walls.

If he does it outdoors - there is a high probability of getting on the 'scanners' of the wrong people, while at home you can avoid any attention to your person. He hoped it wouldn't raise doubts if a passing ninja, especially a chakra sensor, would sense someone practicing and using chakra in their home. They shouldn't have any second thoughts due to the fact that they wouldn't be aware of the age of the one using the chakra, assuming an adult shinobi was in the house.

Parents, on the other hand, are clearly not the most sensitive ones, even the father, being a genin in the past, so they shouldn't find out about things performed upstairs either.

Even if they somehow find out about it, which Yuske certainly didn't wish to, he could always come up with something related to childish antics.

He also doubted that there were such curious individuals in Konoha who would spare no effort to stop every time to check who was actually using chakra in their home. Should someone be that crazy, he would have to stop dozens of times on every street for inspection, because there are countless ninjas in the village, among whom there are clearly those who apply chakra in their homes.

Yuske certainly didn't rule out accidents and knew of the need to be careful, even practicing in his room. However, if he started training with chakra in their backyard, any shinobi leaping across the rooftops would be able to spot the brat who had taken the path of a shinobi. Although this kind of thing happens in ninja villages, it is rare enough that such geniuses are known even outside their own countries, and Yuske tried to avoid it as much as he could.

Chakra control training is a very complex and demanding path. If we try to explain it in simple terms, one of the closest examples is juggling objects: you can start with ten objects at once, but if you are not a motor skills genius, with perfect coordination of movements, then you are unlikely to be able to do such a thing. Another case is if you start with two and gradually go to ten objects, this kind of thing can be learned quite easily over time. And having already acquired the necessary skills you can start juggling with ten items at once.

It is the same with chakra: you should start with the easiest and then move to the most difficult techniques. A subject of debate could be finding somewhere out there special talents who are so gifted by nature that, without the need to exercise concentration with a leaf and walking on vertical surfaces, they may undertake walking on water on the first try. But Yuske wasn't with an inflated ego, from which he decided to go for the goal gradually.

Each type of chakra control exercise has specific goals, the achievement of which will bring one closer to desired future results.

Tree Climbing Practice aims to master the method of collecting chakra and directing it to one point. This in turn is also the goal of Leaf Concentration Practice, but what is distinctive is that tree walking is a more advanced form of exercise where the body mass acts as an additional weighting device, because it must be steadily attached to a vertical surface.

Leaf sticking is needed in order to take the first steps to feeling your own chakra, and the mass of leaves being super light makes it easier to master the very process of gathering chakra at one point.

The most advanced technique, namely Water Surface Walking Practice, focuses on learning to change the intensity of the directed chakra. After learning to walk on vertical surfaces, a shinobi can simply direct chakra to a desired point, but walking on water allows you to feel every bit of chakra within you, and even move it in the form of irregular pulses, increasing or decreasing the flow as needed.

The extra gifted could immediately start by walking on trees or walls, but Yuske decided to proceed gradually, plus he was afraid that learning control techniques on an intuitive level might hinder him in the future.

In his understanding, each technique is a scale that has ten segments. At the same time, each type of control technique can be performed even if a shinobi, so to speak, has completed 8/10, achieving results through intuitive understanding. Such a ninja will certainly overlook some details that may prevent him from achieving 100% control over his own chakra in the future.

Kakashi, in his training of the genin appealed specifically to the method of intuitive skill acquisition. Naruto and Sasuke didn't master the technique gradually, but rather accelerated and began to run up the tree, intuitively probing their capabilities until their bodies themselves determined the right amount and intensity of chakra.

Yuske was not satisfied with such approach, and he wished to gain absolute control over every bit of his chakra without relying on luck and random insights. For this simple reason, Yuske did not immediately begin with walking on vertical surfaces, but instead turned to the simpler method of sticking the leaves.

Without training in the technique of sticking leaves to body parts, Yuske will have to make a lot of noise in his room. He would have to accelerate before walking on the wall, and if he didn't guess the chakra intensity correctly, which probably won't happen on the first try, he can easily pierce the wall with his chakra-enhanced foot. As it may have become clear by now, this is totally unacceptable for someone trying to operate stealthily.
