SECOND CHANCE MATE?

ROWAN'S POV.

" Rogues have been invading our borders for like a week now" Gray, my beta and second in command, reported to me, while looking downwards.

Despite being my best friend, and confidant, he knew when it came to matters of work, or pack, I do not tolerate nonsense nor bullshit.

And right now, he knew he had fucked up which is why he was looking downwards instead of at my face.

" Why the fuck didn't you do your job well?" I asked calmly, not showing any ounce of emotions on my face.

" It's my fault Alpha, pl pl please punish me" He stuttered, fear obvious in his tone and I just grinned.

Anyone seeing Gray right now, would be so shocked, because the Gray everyone knows is playful and talks to me anyhow when we were not discussing official matters.

And now he is trembling, despite talking to him calmly and not raging like I was supposed to.

" Run 1000 laps across the whole Palace" I told him and looked up at his face to observe his expression. His eyes widened in shock, and he looked like he wanted to refuse, but a dead glare from me made him keep quiet immediately.

" As you wish Alpha" He said with a bow, and I dismissed him away.

I signed as I heard the door close behind him, and before I knew it, I got up angrily and before I knew it, I waved everything on my desk to the ground in annoyance.

" How could Gray be so careless?" I growled. That little mistake of his, could have cost the lives of my pack members. They are one thing I do not joke with.

Recently, Rogues have been trespassing and crossing into our borders, to wreak havoc, bless the moon goddess, I was always prepared for such emergencies, but tonight, Gray failed to send guards to watch over the boarders as usual, and hungry looking rogues, or should I call them blood thirsty rogues, barged in and almost harmed the women and children, if not for Richard, my gamma who arrived just in time with some of our warriors and had them captured.

I sat down tiredly knowing I was being partial. If it were to be an ordinary guard, I would have sent him to his death straight, with torture. But Gray was my friend, and I could not do that to him.

I have a feeling, that bastard James, my rival, was behind all these rogue attacks.

' Perhaps I was being too soft and it was time to strike back ' I thought with an evil chuckle, having the perfect method in mind to pay him in his own coins.

Just then a knock on the door distracted me from my thoughts and I looked towards it with my eyebrows raised.

" Come in" I said and the door popped open, revealing Cassie, my mistress. I sighed in distress.

' What does she want this time?' I wondered.

She cat-walked towards me with a smile dressed in a very short seductive gown.

" Hi" She greeted me with a seductive smile and I returned it with a fake smile on my part trying to hide my irritation.

' She bugs me alot' I thought and started thinking of an excuse I could use to drive her out.

' I hate clingy Ladies, no matter how good they are in bed,' I thought.

She got In Front of me and bent close, giving me a view of cleavage. I gulped at the sexy sight and fought the urge to take her up on the desk.

' I have not gotten laid in months, been really busy'. I thought.

" What is it?" I asked.

" As you can see I am busy" I reminded her and she pouted obviously annoyed at my words but I did not give a damn.

" Come on Rowan" She whined, irritating me further.

" You work too much, having no time for me" She added and I facepalmed myself internally.

' I guess I have given her too much assurance' I thought.

" What do you want?" I asked and the seductive smile returned to her face as she got on my lap.

" Well, whatever my Alpha wants" She replied in a slutty tone and wiggled her hefty butt on my crotch. I groaned at that.

My cock was getting aroused and I am sure she could feel it rising under her butt for she gave me a smile of victory.

" Not now Cassie," I told her.

" I am busy,still got tons of paperworks to finish" I reminded her by making gestures to my desk but she just ignored me by planting her lips on me.

I responded and held her head to me sucking on her tongue but pulled away instantly.

" Come on, don't torture this little guy" She whispered with a seductive wink and leaned in again for a kiss. I was about to give in to her advances when I smelt the sweetest smell ever,addicting and alluring.

I instantly got Cassie off my lap and she looked at me alarmed.

" Is everything alright?" She asked but I was too lost in the scent to reply to her.

My desires were forgotten as I immersed myself into the sweet scent and wanted nothing other than the owner of such a pleasurable scent.

I decided to find out where such a pleasant scent was coming and dashed out of my study leaving Cassie hanging there and calling after me but I just ignored her.

' The scent was far more important' I thought.

Surprisingly,it led me towards our borders and I wondered why and soon got my answers.

The pleasant scent was getting nearer and nearer and suddenly, Alexander my wolf growled excitedly.

" Mate" . I was stunned.

" Mate?" I thought in wonder and barely had time to gather my thoughts when something fragile collided with my chest. I looked down and saw a very thin, fragile and beautiful looking girl.

She had the bluest eyes I have ever seen.

She looked scared and was shivering as we stared at one another. I could not really access her fully because she was covered in dirt and dried blood.

' Who was she?' I wondered. ' Was she a rogue?' I wondered meanwhile Alexander kept flipping happily in my mind as he kept chanting.

" Mate, mate".

" We had a second chance mate?" I wondered in disbelief.

She looked so weak and I felt an instant urge to protect her.

'Probably because she is my mate' I thought.

Just then, I heard loud growls, and knew right away they were rogues.

The petite lady widened her eyes in shock before collapsing into my arms.

' Who is she?' I wondered.
